    DIGITAL STORYTELLING AS A TEACHING METHOD IN ADULT EDUCATION - THE CORRELATION BETWEEN ITS EFFECTIVENESS AND WORKING MEMORY

    In recent years, technology has been growing rapidly. The impact that Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and associated teaching tools have on the learning process is already significant, and this is expected to grow further in the future. Digital Storytelling (DST) is a combination of interaction and learning at the same time and it could prove to be an excellent teaching method at the disposal of the educator. The present study is an attempt to examine the impact of the method in adult education, providing that the learners are the creators of digital stories. In addition, the current research is an attempt to examine the relationship between learners’ Working Memory and the impact of DST on their learning performance. The research has been conducted in a public vocational training institute. The findings revealed that DST is an effective learning tool in adult education that can improve learners’ performance. In addition, the findings suggest that the method is more effective in learners which have higher working memory rates than others.  Article visualizations

    Measuring Industrial Customer Satisfaction: The Case of the Natural Gas Market in Greece

    This aim of this paper is to measure industrial consumer satisfaction in the natural gas sector in Greece. By using the Multicriteria Satisfaction Analysis (MUSA) method, the paper measures industrial customer satisfaction based on criteria concerning the provided products and services, communication and collaboration with providers’ staff, customer service, pricing policy and website. The research results that are based on the analysis of 95 questionnaires collected during the period between June 2017 and October 2017 show that the index of the global customer has a good performance as its value is about 74.99%. Furthermore, the satisfaction criterion with the highest performance is the one concerning communication and collaboration with natural gas providers’ staff. It should be noted that the criterion concerning the provided products and services criterion is the only one with high performance and importance—meaning that it should be in the spotlight of the natural gas providers. The paper concludes that there is considerable space for improvements to be made. Customer satisfaction is of great importance for every company, as it can be highly connected with its performance. Using the results of this study, natural gas providers will have the chance to frame their future actions in order to keep their industrial customers satisfied. Taking into account both the fact that industrial customers’ share in the Greek natural gas market is about 25% and that this market has been recently liberalized, it is of vital importance for natural gas providers to have sufficient information about their industrial customers’ satisfaction

    Abstract A Smart Campus is a miniature of a Smart City with a more demanding framework that enables learning, social interaction and creativity. To ensure a Smart Campus uninterruptible secure operation, a key requirement is that daily routines and activities are performed protected in an environment monitored unobtrusively by a robust surveillance system. The various components that compose such an environment, buildings, labs, public spaces, smart lighting, smart parking, or even smart traffic lights, require us to focus on surveillance systems, and recognize which detection activities to establish. In this paper, we perform a comparative assessment in the area of surveillance systems for Smart Campuses. A proposed taxonomy for IoT-enabled Smart Campus unfold five research dimensions: (1) physical infrastructure; (2) enabling technologies; (3) software analytics; (4) system security; and (5) research methodology. By applying this taxonomy and by adopting a weighted scoring model on the surveyed systems, we first present the state-of-the-art, and then we make a comparative assessment and classify the systems. We extract valuable conclusions and inferences from this classification, providing insights and directions towards required services offered by surveillance systems for Smart Campus
