    Get PDF
A simple, accurate, precise, sensitive, and highly selective ultra violet spectrometer method has been developed for the simultaneous estimation of simvastatin and labetalol in bulk and solid dosage form. The estimation of simvastatin was carried out at 239 nm while labetalol was estimated at 222.4 nm. The developed method was validated for linearity range, precision, recovery studies and interference study for mixture, all these parameter showed the adaptability of the method for the method quality analysis of the drug in bulk and combination formulation. Oguchi disease, first described in 1907, is a rare autosomal recessive disorder characterized by congenital stationary night blindness with a unique morphological and functional abnormality of the retina. The cause, though largely unknown, is associated with ARRESTIN and RHODOPSIN KINASE gene defects. This is a case report of a 20 yr old male patient of Oguchi disease who presented with classical symptoms and morphological features in the form of Mizuo phenomenon

Formulation Development and Evaluation of Sustained Release Ranolazine Microbeads using Natural Polymer

    No full text
The goal of this study was to develop sustained-release microbeads containing Ranolazine. The Ranolazine was selected on the basis of its short half-life i.e., 1.5 h and used in treatment of Angina pectoris. The fundamental goal of this research is to increase duration of drug release. Ranolazine was encapsulated with natural polymers such as Hygrophila auriculata seed mucilage by an ionotropic gelation technique. The formulation batches were optimized with a 32 factorial design and physicochemical characteristics were also evaluated. The particle size of microbeads, entrapment efficiency of drug, surface morphology, In-vitro release of drug was investigated. The in-vitro studies of optimized microbeads formulation batch (B2) containing 100:600 ratio of Hygrophila auriculata seed mucilage and sodium alginate exhibited as a sustained release of Ranolazine up to 12 h and. The mucoadhesion potential was found to be 97± 1% up 12 h. In our perspective, the current ER pellet formulation might be the most feasible alternative to traditional pain management formulas. All the trial’s batches were shown to be suitable in extended release of a short elimination half-life medication with enhanced bioavailability, implying that it is useful for oral drug delivery. Search for a third-generation leptoquark coupled to a τ\tau lepton and a b quark through single, pair, and nonresonant production in proton-proton collisions at s\sqrt{s} = 13 TeV

    No full text
International audienceA search is presented for a third-generation leptoquark (LQ) coupled exclusively to a τ\tau lepton and a b quark. The search is based on proton-proton collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV recorded with the CMS detector, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb1^{-1}. Events with τ\tau leptons and a varying number of jets originating from b quarks are considered, targeting the single and pair production of LQs, as well as nonresonant tt-channel LQ exchange. An excess is observed in the data with respect to the background expectation in the combined analysis of all search regions. For a benchmark LQ mass of 2 TeV and an LQ-b-τ\tau coupling strength of 2.5, the excess reaches a local significance of up to 2.8 standard deviations. Upper limits at the 95% confidence level are placed on the LQ production cross section in the LQ mass range 0.5-2.3 TeV, and up to 3 TeV for tt-channel LQ exchange. Leptoquarks are excluded below masses of 1.22-1.88 TeV for different LQ models and varying coupling strengths up to 2.5. The study of nonresonant ττ\tau\tau production through tt-channel LQ exchange allows lower limits on the LQ mass of up to 2.3 TeV to be obtained

Search for the Z boson decay to ττμμ\tau\tau\mu\mu in proton-proton collisions at s\sqrt{s} = 13 TeV

    No full text
International audienceThe first search for the Z boson decay to ττμμ\tau\tau\mu\mu at the CERN LHC is presented, based on data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 fb1^{-1}. The data are compatible with the predicted background. For the first time, an upper limit at the 95% confidence level of 6.9 times the standard model expectation is placed on the ratio of the Z \to ττμμ\tau\tau\mu\mu to Z \to 4μ\mu branching fractions. Limits are also placed on the six flavor-conserving four-lepton effective-field-theory operators involving two muons and two tau leptons, for the first time testing all such operators

Search for soft unclustered energy patterns in proton-proton collisions at 13 TeV

    No full text
International audienceThe first search for soft unclustered energy patterns (SUEPs) is performed using an integrated luminosity of 138 fb1^{-1} of proton-proton collision data at s\sqrt{s} = 13 TeV collected in 2016-2018 by the CMS detector at the LHC. Such SUEPs are predicted by Hidden Valley models with a new, confining force with a large 't Hooft coupling. In events with boosted topologies, selected by high-threshold hadronic triggers, the multiplicity and sphericity of clustered tracks are used to reject the background from standard model quantum chromodynamics. With no observed excess of events over the standard model expectation, limits are set on the cross section for production via gluon fusion of a scalar mediator with SUEP-like decays

Performance of CMS muon reconstruction from proton-proton to heavy ion collisions

    No full text
International audienceThe performance of muon tracking, identification, triggering, momentum resolution, and momentum scale has been studied with the CMS detector at the LHC using data collected at sNN\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}} = 5.02 TeV in proton-proton (pp) and lead-lead (PbPb) collisions in 2017 and 2018, respectively, and at sNN\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}} = 8.16 TeV in proton-lead (pPb) collisions in 2016. Muon efficiencies, momentum resolutions, and momentum scales are compared by focusing on how the muon reconstruction performance varies from relatively small occupancy pp collisions to the larger occupancies of pPb collisions and, finally, to the highest track multiplicity PbPb collisions. We find the efficiencies of muon tracking, identification, and triggering to be above 90% throughout most of the track multiplicity range. The momentum resolution and scale are unaffected by the detector occupancy. The excellent muon reconstruction of the CMS detector enables precision studies across all available collision systems
