No abstractThere has been comparatively less work done on how to effectively engage with and reform unethical and corrupt behaviors in business world; behaviors that can be both legal and illegal. According to the author, however, the research that has been done is very encouraging. Effective business ethics methods can be very profitable and sustainable. Effective business ethics methods can be learned and taught. Further, effective business ethics methods can help cause and stimulate better and greater socioeconomic development. In this paper, the author first considers nine types of effective business ethics engagement and corruption reform methods. Second, he examines in some detail six win-win methods with real case examples. Third, theoretical foundations for win-win methods and why win-win ethical business practices and relationships are profitable and sustainable are considered. Fourth, he discusses strengths and limitations of win-win methods. For the author, win-win methods can help facilitate ethical and mutually prosperous association

    Products of Random Matrices

We derive analytic expressions for infinite products of random 2x2 matrices. The determinant of the target matrix is log-normally distributed, whereas the remainder is a surprisingly complicated function of a parameter characterizing the norm of the matrix and a parameter characterizing its skewness. The distribution may have importance as an uncommitted prior in statistical image analysis.Comment: 9 pages, 1 figur

Social situational business ethics framing for engaging with ethics issues

    Get PDF
This article considers the problem of how employees and observers of business ethics behaviors often do not know how to safely and effectively engage with business ethics issues and cases. The ameliorative method of social situational business ethics framing was analyzed. Key parts of the related literature from philosophy, sociology, organizational studies, and business ethics are reviewed. A literature gap between general framing theory and business ethics was identified with respect to the need for social situational framing in business ethics at the micro individual, meso organizational, and macro institutional levels. Theoretical propositions for bridging the literature gap and a wide variety of business ethics engagement case examples are developed as illustrations of and support for the propositions. Practical social situational business ethics framing implications for safe and effective business ethics engagement are considered.</p

    Decoherence suppression via environment preparation

To protect a quantum system from decoherence due to interaction with its environment, we investigate the existence of initial states of the environment allowing for decoherence-free evolution of the system. For models in which a two-state system interacts with a dynamical environment, we prove that such states exist if and only if the interaction and self-evolution Hamiltonians share an eigenstate. If decoherence by state preparation is not possible, we show that initial states minimizing decoherence result from a delicate compromise between the environment and interaction dynamics.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figure

Configuration interaction calculations of the controlled phase gate in double quantum dot qubits

We consider qubit coupling resulting from the capacitive coupling between two double quantum dot (DQD) single-triplet qubits. Calculations of the coupling when the two DQDs are detuned symmetrically or asymmetrically are performed using a full configuration interaction (CI). The full CI reveals behavior that is not observed by more commonly used approximations such as Heitler London or Hund Mulliken, particularly related to the operation of both DQDs in the (0,2) charge sector. We find that there are multiple points in detuning-space where a two-qubit entangling gate can be realized, and that trade-offs between coupling magnitude and sensitivity to fluctuations in detuning make a case for operating the gate in the (0,2) regime not commonly considered.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figure
