    Radiative decay of the X(3872) as a mixed molecule-charmonium state in QCD Sum Rules

    We use QCD sum rules to calculate the width of the radiative decay of the meson X(3872), assumed to be a mixture between charmonium and exotic molecular [cqˉ][qcˉ][c\bar{q}][q\bar{c}] states with JPC=1++J^{PC}=1^{++}. We find that in a small range for the values of the mixing angle, 50≤θ≤1305^0\leq\theta\leq13^0, we get the branching ratio Γ(X→J/ψγ)/Γ(X→J/ψπ+π−)=0.19±0.13\Gamma(X\to J/\psi\gamma)/\Gamma(X\to J/\psi\pi^+\pi^-)=0.19\pm0.13, which is in agreement, with the experimental value. This result is compatible with the analysis of the mass and decay width of the mode J/ψ(nπ)J/\psi(n\pi) performed in the same approach.Comment: 7 pages, 9 figures; revised version accepted for publication in Phys.     The majorization relation has been shown to be useful in classifying which transformations of jointly held quantum states are possible using local operations and classical communication. In some cases, a direct transformation between two states is not possible, but it becomes possible in the presence of another state (known as a catalyst); this situation is described mathematically by the trumping relation, an extension of majorization. The structure of the trumping relation is not nearly as well understood as that of majorization. We give an introduction to this subject and derive some new results. Most notably, we show that the dimension of the required catalyst is in general unbounded; there is no integer kk such that it suffices to consider catalysts of dimension kk or less in determining which states can be catalyzed into a given state. We also show that almost all bipartite entangled states are potentially useful as catalysts.Comment: 7 pages, RevTe

    DsJD_{sJ}(2317) meson production at RHIC

    Production of DsJD_{sJ}(2317) mesons in relativistic heavy ion collisions at RHIC is studied. Using the quark coalescence model, we first determine the initial number of DsJD_{sJ}(2317) mesons produced during hadronization of created quark-gluon plasma. The predicted DsJD_{sJ}(2317) abundance depends sensitively on the quark structure of the DsJD_{sJ}(2317) meson. An order-of-magnitude larger yield is obtained for a conventional two-quark than for an exotic four-quark DsJD_{sJ}(2317) meson. To include the hadronic effect on the DsJD_{sJ}(2317) meson yield, we have evaluated the absorption cross sections of the DsJD_{sJ}(2317) meson by pion, rho, anti-kaon, and vector anti-kaon in a phenomenological hadronic model. Taking into consideration the absorption and production of DsJD_{sJ}(2317) mesons during the hadronic stage of heavy ion collisions via a kinetic model, we find that the final yield of DsJD_{sJ}(2317) mesons remains sensitive to its initial number produced from the quark-gluon plasma, providing thus the possibility of studying the quark structure of the DsJD_{sJ}(2317) meson and its production mechanism in relativistic heavy ion collisions.Comment: 12 pages, 6 figure

    Global Quantum Discord in Multipartite Systems

    We propose a global measure for quantum correlations in multipartite systems, which is obtained by suitably recasting the quantum discord in terms of relative entropy and local von Neumann measurements. The measure is symmetric with respect to subsystem exchange and is shown to be non-negative for an arbitrary state. As an illustration, we consider tripartite correlations in the Werner-GHZ state and multipartite correlations at quantum criticality. In particular, in contrast with the pairwise quantum discord, we show that the global quantum discord is able to characterize the infinite-order quantum phase transition in the Ashkin-Teller spin chain.Comment: v3: 7 pages, 6 figures.     Production of the Y(4260) State in B Meson Decay

    We calculate the branching ratio for the production of the meson Y(4260)Y(4260) in the decay B−→Y(4260)K−B^- \to Y(4260)K^-. We use QCD sum rules approach and we consider the Y(4260)Y(4260) to be a mixture between charmonium and exotic tetraquark, [cˉqˉ][qc][\bar{c}\bar{q}][qc], states with JPC=1−−J^{PC}=1^{--}. Using the value of the mixing angle determined previously as: θ=(53.0±0.5)∘\theta=(53.0\pm0.5)^\circ, we get the branching ratio B(B→Y(4260)K)=(1.34±0.47)×10−6\mathcal{B}(B\to Y(4260)K)=(1.34\pm0.47)\times10^{-6}, which allows us to estimate an interval on the branching fraction 3.0×10−8<BY<1.8×10−63.0 \times 10^{-8} < {\mathcal B}_{_Y} < 1.8 \times 10^{-6} in agreement with the experimental upper limit reported by Babar Collaboration.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures, 1 table. arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:1105.134

    A Melanic Pieris Rapae from Michigan (Lepidoptera: Pierdae)

    The Arthur J. Yates collection of Michigan Lepidoptera, recently donated to Michigan State University (see Fischer, 1967), contained a striking melanic male cabbage butterfly [Pieris rapae (Linnaeus)] (Figs. 1, 2) now incorporated into the MSU series. Yates collected the specimen on 29 May 1934 in Roseville, Macomb County, near the western shore of Lake St. Clair in southeastern Michigan. An examination of the androconia and genitalia, using the characters described by Chang (1963), assured proper identification of the specimen. Although we have found no record of a similar rapae taken in North America, there are some named European forms of various species of Pieris that resemble our specimen

    Temporal-mode continuous-variable cluster states using linear optics

    I present an extensible experimental design for optical continuous-variable cluster states of arbitrary size using four offline (vacuum) squeezers and six beamsplitters. This method has all the advantages of a temporal-mode encoding [Phys. Rev. Lett. 104, 250503], including finite requirements for coherence and stability even as the computation length increases indefinitely, with none of the difficulty of inline squeezing. The extensibility stems from a construction based on Gaussian projected entangled pair states (GPEPS). The potential for use of this design within a fully fault tolerant model is discussed.Comment: 9 pages, 19 color figure
