MOODLE AS A POTENTIAL ONLINE PLATFORM USED IN THE FLIPPED CLASSROOMS IN THE VIETNAMESE EFL TEACHING CONTEXT

    Get PDF
Flipped classrooms started to be adopted in the Vietnamese EFL teaching context a few years ago. Educational technology plays a crucial role in the implementation of this teaching model. Hence, choosing a suitable online platform for these classes is a critical decision for English teachers. The current study attempted to investigate Vietnamese students’ perceptions of MOODLE as the online platform used in two flipped English grammar classes. Sixty-two students from a state university in Vietnam were recruited for this research. The study employed a mixed-methods research design to address the research question. Both quantitative and qualitative data were collected through a questionnaire designed based on Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and semi-structured interviews. The data analysis revealed that the students had positive perceptions of MOODLE in terms of system characteristics, material characteristics, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, attitude toward use, and behavioural intention. Accordingly, this learning management system (LMS) could be seen as a potential online platform in flipped classrooms for Vietnamese students.  Article visualizations

A STUDY ON POWER OUTPUT OF HORIZONTAL-AXIS WIND TURBINES UNDER RAIN

    Get PDF
The power of the wind turbine are significantly affected by the air conditions of the operating environment. Rain is a widespread phenomenon in many parts of the world especially in Vietnam, so exploring its effect on the power of wind turbines will provide valuable insights into the design of a new wind tower. In this paper, a method and a model is developed to estimate the effect of precipitation by simulating the actual physical processes of the rain drops forming on the surface of the blades of horizontal-axis wind turbines (HAWT), thereby determining optimal wetness, then power and performance respectively. Consequently, it makes a contribution to operation and control strategies for horizontal-axis wind turbines

Topological Lifshitz phase transition in effective model of QCD with chiral symmetry non-restoration

    Get PDF
The topological Lifshitz phase transition is studied systematically within an effective model of QCD, in which the chiral symmetry, broken at zero temperature, is not restored at high temperature and/or baryon chemical potential. It is found that during phase transition the quark system undergoes a first-order transition from low density fully-gapped state to high density state with Fermi sphere which is protected by momentum-space topology. The Lifshitz phase diagram in the plane of temperature and baryon chemical potential is established. The critical behaviors of various equations of state are determined.Comment: 8 pages, 10 figure

An Alternative Approach to Classify Illegal Logging: The Case in Vietnam

    Get PDF
This article examines the different kinds of illegal logging that takes place in Vietnam, challenging the typical approaches to understanding and classifying the various criminal activities involved. We argue that either overlooking the classification of illegal logging or relying solely on illegal timber volumes and legal descriptions to categorise the crime is not sufficient to comprehend its diverse nature. This leads to inappropriate measures to tackle the crime. Instead, this study suggests that illegal logging should be categorised into three types, which are fundamentally distinctive, not only with regard to the volumes of illicit timber and the legislative definitions of the crime, but also (and more importantly) with reference to the attributes of harvesters, the degree of their involvement and their motivations, and the level of organisation involved in criminal commissions

Abstract: This study assessetailers’ satisfaction with Procter and Gamble (P&G) brands distribution policy at Tuan Viet Co.,Ltd., Hue Branch concerning the supply of goods, sales policy, information forcustomers, facilities and equipment support, personal relationships, and sales staffs. On the basis ofthe factor analysis method and the ENTER method for regression analysis, the study shows that the factor "Sales policy" ha the greatest impact on retailers’ satisfaction. The study also provides possible solutions to improve retailers’ satisfaction with Tuan Viet company's P&G brands distribution policy. Especially, the study emphasizesseveral issues that Tuan Viet should address, including promoting market surveys to have appropriate distribution policies and basis for appropriate proposals to the producers, and recruiting and training sales staff carefully. In addition to professional skills, it is necessary to pay more attention toestablishingrelationships with clients and navigating sales staffs to work for the company. The company needs to improve its warehousing system, while goods need to be better stocked. Furthermore, the lack of propercoordination between the salesmen and the delivery staffs should be tackled thoroughly.
