New Zealand national action plan for the implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions, including 1325, on women, peace & security 2015-2019
The New Zealand Government, led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, New Zealand Defence Force, New Zealand Police and Ministry for Women, has developed a National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security for the period 2015 to 2019. The plan outlines how New Zealand implements United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security and other related resolutions, as well as setting out areas for future development.
New Zealand’s National Action Plan focuses on the participation and leadership of women, including improving international deployment rates of senior staff within the New Zealand Defence Force and New Zealand Police to increase the numbers of women at decision making levels in peacekeeping and assistance missions overseas.
A further focus of the Plan is to provide support in relevant development assistance with the aim of targeting leadership among women in the Pacific. The Plan also includes initiatives to protect against sexual violence, intimate partner violence and violence against women and girls in conflict affected countries
