Lower Bound on the Propagation Speed of Gravity from Gravitational Cherenkov Radiation
Recently, interesting 4-D Lorentz violating models have been proposed, in
which all particles have a common maximum velocity , but gravity propagates
(in the preferred frame) with a different maximum velocity . We
show that the case is very tightly constrained by the observation of
the highest energy cosmic rays. Assuming a galactic origin for the cosmic rays
gives a conservative bound of ; if the cosmic rays
have an extragalactic origin the bound is orders of magnitude tighter, of order

The generalized Fenyes-Nelson model for free scalar field theory
The generalized Fenyes--Nelson model of quantum mechanics is applied to the
free scalar field. The resulting Markov field is equivalent to the Euclidean
Markov field with the times scaled by a common factor which depends on the
diffusion parameter. This result is consistent between Guerra's earlier work on
stochastic quantization of scalar fields. It suggests a deep connection between
Euclidean field theory and the stochastic interpretation of quantum mechanics.
The question of Lorentz covariance is also discussed.Comment: 6 page

Improving the J/psi Production Baseline at RHIC and the LHC
We assess the theoretical uncertainties on the inclusive J/psi production
cross section in the Color Evaporation Model (CEM) using values for the charm
quark mass, renormalization and factorization scales obtained from a fit to the
charm production data. We use our new results to provide improved baseline
comparison calculations at RHIC and the LHC. We also study cold matter effects
on J/psi production at leading relative to next-to-leading order in the CEM
within this approach.Comment: Proceedings for Hard Probes 2012, Cagliari, Ital
