    Shape Invariant Potential and Semi-Unitary Transformations (SUT) for Supersymmetric Harmonic Oscillator in T4-Space

    Constructing the Semi - Unitary Transformation (SUT) to obtain the supersymmetric partner Hamiltonians for a one dimensional harmonic oscillator, it has been shown that under this transformation the supersymmetric partner loses its ground state in T^{4}- space while its eigen functions constitute a complete orthonormal basis in a subspace of full Hilbert space.     Cyto-histological correlation of salivary gland lesions- a prospective study in a tertiary care institute

    Background: Fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) has an essential proven role in diagnosing most of the common and benign salivary gland lesions. However, limited cellularity and morphological heterogeneity of the lesion can pose diagnostic challenges. The present study was conducted in a tertiary care centre over a period of one year with an objective to study the cyto-morphological features of salivary gland lesions and correlate cytological findings with histopathology.Methods: The study was carried out over a period of one year from January 2014 to December 2014. FNA specimens obtained from 78 patients were analyzed. Of these, only 51 patients underwent biopsy or surgery and their specimens were subjected to histopathological examination. Validation of cytological diagnosis was done on the basis of histopathological diagnosis.Results: A total 78 patients with salivary gland lesions were subjected to FNAC. Non neoplastic lesions constituted 19 cases (25%) and benign lesions constituted 46 cases (80.70%).  Malignant lesions constituted 11 cases (19.30%). Two cases were inconclusive due to inadequate aspirated material. Overall sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic accuracy were 95.98%, 99.20% and 98.09% respectively.Conclusions: FNAC continues to be an accurate diagnostic technique in the hands of an experienced cytopathologist. It is a highly sensitive and specific technique for rapid diagnosis of most of the salivary gland swellings

    Ferromagnetism and ferroelectricity in highly resistive Pb(0.7)Sr(0.3)(Fe(0.012)Ti(0.988))O(3) nanoparticles and its conduction by variable-range-hopping mechanism

    The enhancement in ferromagnetism and ferroelectricity at room temperature for Pb0.7Sr0.3�Fe0.012Ti0.988�O3 �PSFT� nanoparticles is proved by magnetization and polarization hysteresis loop. The x-ray diffraction and micrograph show that the PSFT nanoparticles have distorted tetragonal single phase, and their average particle’s size is 8 nm. The effect of Sr content reduces the particle size, and hence the multiferroic system becomes more resistive, which dominates the superparamagnetic/paraelectric relaxation. The variable-range-hopping conduction mechanism explained the high resistivity of PSFT nanoparticles, which suggests that the room temperature movement of electrons involves short-range order through defect states

    Prevalence and genotype distribution of human papilloma virus in cervical samples of young married women: a hospital based prospective cross-sectional study

    Background: The aim of the study was to determine the prevalence and genotypes of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in the cervical samples of young married women at a tertiary care hospital in Chhattisgarh. A prospective cross-sectional observational study was performed in married women, aged 18 to 30 years.Methods: Relevant history was noted and cervical samples were collected and tested for HPV deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Data was compiled to calculate the prevalence of HPV and the genotypic distribution.Results: The overall prevalence of HPV in this study was 22.73% and that of type 16 and 18 either alone or in combination with other subtypes was 17.26%. They were the commonest subtypes. HPV positivity was inversely related to education levels (Chi square, p=0.05). There was a significant difference in parity of women testing positive for HPV versus those negative for HPV (one tailed Pr (t<t)=0.03, 95% CI=1.445 to 1,865 at 108 degrees of freedom). No difference was observed between education and socio economic levels of positive versus negative women. Type 16 and 18 accounted for 76% of all HPV subtypes detected.Conclusions: The prevalence of HPV infection is high in Indian women. The high risk oncogenic types are the commonest subtypes. There is an urgent need to screen for the presence of high risk HPV infections in younger women so that they may be followed up more closely to prevent cervical cancers

    IFN alfacon-1 (Infergen) is a synthetic form of Interferon (IFN)-&#945;2b. Infergen has immunomodulatory activity and is effective against hepatitis C virus. However, the effect of Infergen (IFG) on Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) has not yet been reported. Therefore, for the first time, we have studied the influence of IFG in constraining the survival of Mtb in human macrophages. We observed that IFG significantly enhanced the maturation and activation of macrophages. Further, it substantially augmented the secretion of IL-6, Nitric Oxide (NO) and antigen uptake. Moreover, macrophages exhibited remarkably higher bactericidal activity, as evidenced by reduction in the Mtb growth. Infergen-mediated mechanism was different from the type-1 interferons; since it worked through the activation of NF-&#954;B, phosphorylation of STAT-3 and Akt-PI3K that improved the bactericidal activity through autophagy and NO release. In future, IFG immunotherapy can be a novel strategy for treating patients and controlling TB

    Impact of exogenous application of Indole Acetic Acid on accumulation of heavy metal and antioxidants in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) under sewage water irrigation

    A field experiment was conducted to study the activities of antioxidative enzymes SOD, CAT &amp; GR, non-enzymatic antioxidants i.e. carotenoid &amp; proline and uptake of heavy metals (Pb, Cr, Zn, Cu and Fe) in winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) variety PBW-343 grown under sewage water (SW) collected from Quilla channel of Bareilly city (U.P), India. Wheat was irrigated with two concentrations (50% and 100%) of sewage water along with exogenous application of 10 and 20 ppm Indole-3 Acetic Acid (IAA). Enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidant was significantly higher in 100% SW as compared to 50% SW. There was a significant (p&lt;0.001) increase in carotenoid and proline content whereas decrease in uptake of toxic heavy metals was observed in wheat&nbsp; irrigated with SW+10 and 20 ppm IAA as compared to SW and control. Further, significant (p&lt;0.001) decline in carotenoid and proline content was evident in 20 ppm IAA as compared to 10 ppm IAA in both the concentrations of SW. In contrast, under both the concentrations of SW, heavy metals especially Cr found to decrease (p&lt;0.05) whereas significant decrease was also noticed in Zn, Cu and Fe uptake on application of 20 ppm IAA as compared to 10 ppm IAA and SW alone.&nbsp
