    ALEXITHYMIA DIFFERENCES AND THE THEORY OF MIND AMONG CHILDREN WITH NURSING CAREERS PARENTS

    Different studies have presented various results on Alexithymia and Theory of Mind in both women and men. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to determine differences of alexithymia and theory of mind among Children survivors in the Kurdistan's among children with nursing careers parents. Therefore, 284 nurses (123 boys and 161 girls) were chosen among children with nursing careers parents located in hospital sanandaj in 2016. Then the respondents completed the Toronto Alexithymia and Mind Reading through Eyes questionnaires. Descriptive Statistical Method and Multi-Variate Variance Analysis were used to analyze the data. Results of the research showed that the rates of theory of mind and externally orientated thinking were different in both genders. In other words, survival boys showed higher levels of externally orientated thinking and lower levels of theory of mind compared to survival girls

    The level of professional socialization of nursing students of Ilam University of Medical Sciences in 2016

    Socialization is a basic and fundamental concept in nursing. There is a great need to evaluate professional socialization of nursing students. The aim of study was determining the factors affecting on the level of professional socialization of nursing students in Ilam University of Medical Sciences in Iran. The design was cross-sectional and 130 nursing students of Ilam University of Medical Sciences in Iran were selected by convenience sampling. Data were gathered by socialization questionnaire of professional socialization and analyzed by t-test in SPSS17. Significance level was considered to be 0.05. The most of the students were male (63.1), single (96.9) with mean age of 21.11 +/- 2.61 ranged 18-31 years. Mean score of socialization was 37.71 +/- 8.48 with a minimum of 23 and a maximum of 51. Score of socialization were at novice (11.5), advanced beginner (45.4), competent (43.1). None of them were not in proficient and expert levels. A statistically significant relationship was observed between mean score of socialization competence of the nursing students with age, education level and gender (p< 0.05) and between the mean score of socialization level of nursing students in all dimensions of the questionnaire except group participation (p< 0.05). The level of professional socialization in the most students was advanced beginner. Therefore it is necessary to promote professional socialization by proper intervention. The results can obtain the necessary data for studentsand educational planners for promoting the socialization level of students and identify the strengths and weaknesses of their educational planning and administration

    Urinary infections from the hospital are the most commonly reported nosocomial infections that increase mortality and high costs to the patient. In this regard, a nurse is a member of the health care team who plays a unique role in controlling hospital infections. The knowledge, attitude and performance of nurses in the field of sanitary plays an important role in providing the health of the individual and ultimately the community. The present study first examines the incidence of urinary tract infections in hospitalized patients and then, the effect of standard bladder catheterization training on knowledge and attitude of nursing staff working in ICUs of Shahid Mostafa Khomeini Hospital in Ilam city in 2017 was investigated. The present study was semi-experimental. The statistical society of this study consisted of hospitalized patients and nursing staff working in the intensive care units of Shahid Mostafa Khomeini Hospital in Ilam city in 2017 in the 4-month period. They were selected randomly. Data collection was done in laboratory and field. In order to analyze the findings, the Chi-square test was used at 95 confidence level and all statistical analyzes were performed using SPSS software version 23. The findings of this study showed of the 60 patients under study in Shahid Mostafa Khomeini Hospital in Ilam in 2017 and only four months in the period of four months, only 11.66 of patients had positive urine culture. In this study, the effect of different factors such as gender, age, hospitalization and diabetes on urinary tract infections also was investigated. The results showed that none of these factors correlated with urinary tract infections. Moreover, it was found that the mean scores of nurses 'attitude before intervention were 23.066 +/- 3/058 after intervention and 30.353 +/- 3/159 and mean scores of nurses' knowledge before intervention was 6.933 +/- 2/631 after intervention, 186.06 +/- 1/279. Urgent diagnosis of urinary tract infections and urine catheter placement with a standard method is a valuable measure for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Skills in proper placement methods and knowing the risks and benefits of this action are obligatory for all nursing staff and it is clear in this study that the quality of this practice improves through standard quality education

    Patients' bill of rights and effective factors of workplace violence against female nurses on duty at Ilam teaching hospitals

    BACKGROUND: Workplace violence against female nurses is an increasing problem. In addition, recognition the rights of patients can reduce such violence against female nurses. Therefore, the aim of the current study was to investigate workplace violence against female nurses in respect with patients' bill of rights at two public hospitals of Ilam in 2012. METHODS: In a descriptive cross-sectional research, workplace violence against female nurses was studied. Data were gathered employing a researcher made questionnaire filled out by 106 female nurses. The questionnaire was on workplace, physical and verbal violence of patients and their attendants, and also the patient's rights as respected by nursing staff. Permission of university ethics committee was obtained. Data analyses were done by T-test and ANOVA in SPSS software. RESULTS: Totally, 90.6 and 15.1 of the participants were subjected to verbal and physical assaults by patients, respectively during last year of the study. Further, 92.5 and 11.3 of nurses experienced verbal and physical assaults by the patients' attendants, respectively. Most of the nursing staff believed that reporting aggressive attacks to the concerned officials would not be useful. A negative significant correlation was found between the aggressions of patients with age as well as marital status of nurses, (P= 0.04). Furthermore, a significant association was seen between physical violence of patients and the nurses' recognition of the patients' bill of rights (P= 0.03). CONCLUSIONS: Due to high rate of violence against female nurses, some proper and effective actions such as employing a trained security force along with legal punitive charges against violators through responsible officials are highly suggested
