115 pages illustrated with maps and photographsA print copy of this title is available through the UO Libraries under the call number: DOC-LC GB5010 .P532 2002Natural hazard mitigation plans assist communities in reducing risk and preventing loss from natural hazards by documenting mitigation goals, recommending activities to minimize losses, and offering technical information and resources to implement activities. This document describes an evaluation process which provides guidance on evaluating hazard mitigation plans and a synthesis of standards and approaches developed by state and federal agencies and organizations to assist communities in achieving risk reduction.Oregon Emergency Management, Oregon Dept. of Land Conservation and Developmen
Planning for Earthquakes and Other Geologic Events: Oregon Workshop Summary Report
The Planning for Earthquakes and Other Geologic Events workshop brought together planners, geologists and engineers from throughout Oregon to discuss earthquake risk in the state. The purpose of the workshop was to identify the resources, opportunities, and obstacles to implementing loss reduction measures in local communities. The event took place on February 26, 2004 at the University of Oregon.
The Institute for Hazard Mitigation Planning and Research at the University of Washington replicated the workshop using the same methods on March 15, 2004 in Seattle.Cascadia Regional Earthquake Workgroup(CREW); Oregon Natural Hazards Workgroup – Community Service Center, University of Oregon;

City of Beaverton natural hazards mitigation plan
364 pp. Includes maps, charts and figures in single file. Published November, 2003. Captured June 1, 2006.The Mitigation Plan contains background on the purpose of the plan, the methodology used to develop the plan, a profile of Beaverton, chapters on six natural hazards that have the potential to impact the City, and several appendices. The Plan also includes resources and information to assist city residents, public and private sector organizations, and others to participate in activities which mitigate against the effects of natural

that will assist the City in reducing risk and preventing loss from future natural hazard events. The action items address multi-hazard issues, as well as activities for the hazards of flood, severe weather,
landslides, wildfire, earthquake, and volcano-related events. [From the Plan]The City received one third of the funds to develop the plan from the Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) Program, a Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA) grant program. The remainder of the plan was funded through the City of Beaverton
Oregon Pre-Disaster Mitigation: Training Manual
This manual and training provides a process for developing as well as evaluating natural hazard mitigation plans. Additionally, this document and training synthesize the standards and approaches developed by state and federal agencies and organizations to assist communities in achieving risk reduction goals.
The training manual is based on the State of Oregon’s Local Natural Hazard Mitigation Plans: An Evaluation Process and the Planning for Natural Hazards: Oregon Technical Resource Guide (a technical resource for land use planning approaches relating to natural hazards affecting Oregon communities).Natural hazard mitigation plans assist communities in reducing risk and preventing loss from natural hazards by documenting mitigation goals, recommending activities to minimize losses, and offering technical information and resources to implement activities.Public Entity Risk Institute;

Douglas County : Natural hazards mitigation plan
150 pp. Bookmarks supplied by UO. Referenced maps not included. Published 2003. Captured July 25, 2006.This mitigation plan seeks to provide resources, information and strategies for
risk reduction, while helping to guide and coordinate mitigation activities
throughout unincorporated areas of Douglas County. The Natural Hazard
Mitigation Plan provides a set of action items to reduce risk from natural hazards
through education, outreach activities, and the enhancement of partnerships,
which then can decide how to implement measures that would lessen a
disaster’s impact in Douglas County.
The resources and information within the mitigation plan establish a foundation
for the following:
Coordination and collaboration among agencies and the public in Douglas
County;
Identification of specific vulnerabilities and possible future mitigation
actions;
Assistance to communities seeking to qualify for federal disaster
