Identification of Low Coronal Sources of "Stealth" Coronal Mass Ejections Using New Image Processing Techniques

Coronal mass ejections (CMEs) are generally associated with low coronal signatures (LCSs), such as flares, filament eruptions, extreme ultraviolet (EUV) waves, or jets. A number of recent studies have reported the existence of stealth CMEs as events without LCSs, possibly due to observational limitations. Our study focuses on a set of 40 stealth CMEs identified from a study by D?Huys et al. New image processing techniques are applied to high-cadence, multi-instrument sets of images spanning the onset and propagation time of each of these CMEs to search for possible LCSs. Twenty-three of these events are identified as small, low-mass, unstructured blobs or puffs, often occurring in the aftermath of a large CME, but associated with LCSs such as small flares, jets, or filament eruptions. Of the larger CMEs, seven are associated with jets and eight with filament eruptions. Several of these filament eruptions are different from the standard model of an erupting filament/flux tube in that they are eruptions of large, faint flux tubes that seem to exist at large heights for a long time prior to their slow eruption. For two of these events, we see an eruption in Large Angle Spectrometric Coronagraph C2 images and the consequent changes at the bottom edge of the eruption in EUV images. All 40 events in our study are associated with some form of LCS. We conclude that stealth CMEs arise from observational and processing limitations.publishersversionPeer reviewe

Direccionamiento estratégico para la microempresa Creaciones y Confecciones Mery

Revisión sistemática de las variaciones inmunológicas celulares en respuesta a la anestesia en perros sanos

The aim of this review was to systematically explore the scientific evidence of the immunological changes associated with anesthesia in clinically healthy canines, whether or not they underwent surgical procedures, in order to provide information of interest about tools, protocols and processes that allow patients to veterinary anesthesiologists take an additional point of view in patient care. From the PRISMA methodology, an initial search process was carried out on the OVID®, SciELO Citation Index® and Redalyc® search platforms. Based on a research question, a search for relevant titles was carried out, considering only original articles and case reports published in indexed journals and under peer review processes. Subsequently, the reference lists of the definitive articles were searched for additional information (snowballing). Four articles were considered for the presentation of final results and discussion, all published in English, between 2002 and 2015. From the information collected from the four studies, it can be inferred that there are immunological variations in patients undergoing general anesthesia, finding differences in immune responses between total intravenous and inhaled anesthesia. Additionally, it is noteworthy the absence of experimental research that allows not only to analyze the differences between the types of anesthesia, but also between the different anesthetic protocols and patients with concomitant diseases.La presente revisión tuvo como objetivo explorar sistemáticamente la evidencia científica de los cambios inmunológicos asociados a la anestesia en caninos clínicamente sanos, sometidos o no a procedimientos quirúrgicos, con el fin de proporcionar información de interés acerca de herramientas, protocolos y procesos que permitan a los anestesiólogos veterinarios tener un punto de vista adicional en el cuidado del paciente. Desde la metodología PRISMA, se realizó un proceso inicial de búsqueda en las plataformas de búsqueda OVID®, SciELO Citation Index® y Redalyc®. A partir de una pregunta de investigación, se realizó la búsqueda de títulos relevantes, considerando únicamente artículos originales y reportes de casos publicados en revistas indexadas y bajo procesos de revisión por pares. Posteriormente, se realizaron búsquedas en las listas de referencias de los artículos definitivos buscando información adicional (snowballing). Cuatro artículos fueron considerados para la presentación de resultados y discusión final, todos publicados en inglés, entre 2002 y 2015. A partir de la información colectada de los cuatro estudios se puede inferir que existen variaciones inmunológicas en los pacientes sometidos a anestesia general, encontrándose diferencias importantes en las respuestas inmunológicas entre la anestesia total intravenosa y la inhalada. Adicionalmente, es de resaltar la ausencia de investigación de tipo experimental que permita no solo analizar las diferencias entre los tipos de anestesia, sino también entre los diferentes protocolos anestésicos y pacientes con enfermedades concomitantes

Redefining flux ropes in heliophysics

Magnetic flux ropes manifest as twisted bundles of magnetic field lines. They carry significant amounts of solar mass in the heliosphere. This paper underlines the need to advance our understanding of the fundamental physics of heliospheric flux ropes and provides the motivation to significantly improve the status quo of flux rope research through novel and requisite approaches. It briefly discusses the current understanding of flux rope formation and evolution, and summarizes the strategies that have been undertaken to understand the dynamics of heliospheric structures.
