    A Proposed Decision Support System/Expert System for Guiding Fresh Students in Selecting a Faculty in Gomal University, Pakistan

    This paper presents the design and development of a proposed rule based Decision Support System that will help students in selecting the best suitable faculty/major decision while taking admission in Gomal University, Dera Ismail Khan, Pakistan. The basic idea of our approach is to design a model for testing and measuring the student capabilities like intelligence, understanding, comprehension, mathematical concepts plus his/her past academic record plus his/her intelligence level , and applying the module results to a rule-based decision support system to determine the compatibility of those capabilities with the available faculties/majors in Gomal University. The result is shown as a list of suggested faculties/majors with the student capabilities and abilities.     Artificial neural network based adaptive control of single phase Dual Active Bridge with finite time disturbance compensation

    Single phase Dual Active Bridge (DAB) has found numerous applications in modern energy architectures such as direct current (DC) microgrid, electrical vehicle charging and high voltage direct current (HVDC) system. Due to the model complexities of DAB, this work proposes a model free adaptive control method based on artificial neural network (AANN) which is capable of adjusting the weights online in finite time. The finite time learning property of the proposed controller makes it perfectly robust for the compensation of the disturbances due to source and load side variations. A proportional integral (PI) controller is used to stabilize the nominal dynamics of the system along with the AANN controller. The structure of the proposed controller is as simple as PID controller and as robust as any nonlinear control method. The AANN-PI controller is implemented on TI Launchpad (TMS320F28379D) with a 50 Watts laboratory scale DAB test bench. Finally, the performance of the AANN-PI method is compared experimentally with classical PI and sliding mode controllers

    This article presents a tutorial on adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control for position control of DC servo motor which is subjected to nonlinear friction and external disturbance torque. Friction phenomenon is simulated using Lugre dynamic model. Adaptive fuzzy system is used to approximate nonlinear friction and external disturbance. Assuming that system state matrixes are known, model based robust controller is formulated using sliding mode control method. Adaptive fuzzy system formulated using Lyapunov function. The proposed controller is derived for DC motor position control system and numerical simulations are presented to verify its effectiveness

    Development of HPLC Protocol and Simultaneous Quantification of Four Free Flavonoids from Dracocephalum heterophyllum Benth.

    Quantification of the four flavonoids, namely, luteolin, kaempferol, diosmetin, and chrysosplenetin, has been performed for the first time in 80% ethanolic extract of Dracocephalum heterophyllum B. through HPLC coupled to UV detector after optimization of extracting solvent and chromatographic conditions. Total flavonoids quantified were 0.324 mg/mL of the extract. HPLC analysis delivered contents of the luteolin, kaempferol, diosmetin, and chrysosplenetin as 0.08%, 0.14%, 0.28%, and 0.79% of the dried extract, respectively. LOD (%) values calculated were 0.04, 0.03, 0.03, and 0.08 and LOQ (%) values were 0.08, 0.12, 0.11, and 0.28 for luteolin, kaempferol, diosmetin, and chrysosplenetin, respectively. The recovery percentages for these flavonoids were within the acceptable range of 95% to 105%. Standard deviation and %RSD were calculated for each target analytes individually in extract for determining the reproducibility and accuracy of the method. In no case the %RSD was higher than 1 taking retention time as a factor while in the case of area under the curve maximum %RSD was noted in the case of diosmetin as 2.85. From our literature review regarding the plant species under study, it appears that these flavonoids have not been quantified before and are reported for the first time in this paper
