    Adsorption And Structure Of Mcl2 (m = Co2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Cd2+, And Hg2+) Complex Species On A Chemically Modified Silica Gel Surface With 1,4-diazabicyclo(2.2.2)octane

    The adsorption isotherms of MCl2 (M = Co2+, CU2+, Zn2+, Cd2+, and Hg2+) by silica gel chemically modified with 1,4-diazabicyclo(2.2.2)octane, Si(CH2)3N+ (CH2CH2)3N+Cl-, were studied in ethanol solution at 298 K. In every case, the adsorbed complex was the Si(CH2)3N+ (CH2CH2)3N+MCl3 - species. The electronic spectra of the d-d transitions, obtained for Co2+ and Cu2+, showed that the structure of the adsorbed complex species was consistent with that of a nonionic mononuclear entity, similar to that described for R-N+(CH2CH2)NMCl3 - (R = alkyl radical) complexes in which the metal ions were in a C3v ligand field. The electron spin resonance obtained for Cu2+ complex yielded an average g-value, gav = 2.133, and A∄ = 80 ± 5 G, which are consistent with a pseudo-tetrahedrally coordinated metal ion. © 1992.1501115120Kudryavtsev, Miltchenko, Yagov, Lopatkin, (1990) J.
