Kaon and production vs Participants in Nuclear Collisions
Data on kaon and production in nuclear collisions as a function of
centrality are analysed both at AGS and SPS energy range. We compare the
results of several experiments, looking for common trend in `participant
scaling' of production yields. We find a smooth description of scaled kaon and
yields as a function of participant density. We also show a participant
density dependence of kaons and produced in the forward hemisphere for

Ab-initio calculation of all-optical time-resolved calorimetry of nanosized systems: Evidence of nanosecond-decoupling of electron and phonon temperatures
The thermal dynamics induced by ultrashort laser pulses in nanoscale systems,
i.e. all-optical time-resolved nanocalorimetry is theoretically investigated
from 300 to 1.5 K. We report ab-initio calculations describing the temperature
dependence of the electron-phonon interactions for Cu nanodisks supported on
Si. The electrons and phonons temperatures are found to decouple on the ns time
scale at 10 K, which is two orders of magnitude in excess with respect to that
found for standard low-temperature transport experiments. By accounting for the
physics behind our results we suggest an alternative route for overhauling the
present knowledge of the electron-phonon decoupling mechanism in nanoscale
systems by replacing the mK temperature requirements of conventional

The onset of classical QCD dynamics in relativistic heavy ion collisions
The experimental results on hadron production obtained recently at RHIC offer
a new prospective on the energy dependence of the nuclear collision dynamics.
In particular, it is possible that parton saturation -- the phenomenon likely
providing initial conditions for the multi--particle production at RHIC
energies -- may have started to set in central heavy ion collisions already
around the highest SPS energy. We examine this scenario, and make predictions
based on high density QCD for the forthcoming 22 GeV run at RHIC.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures, revte
Searching for Strongly Interacting Massive Particles (SIMPs)
We consider laboratory experiments that can detect stable, neutral strongly
interacting massive particles (SIMPs). We explore the SIMP annihilation cross
section from its minimum value (restricted by cosmological bounds) to the barn
range, and vary the mass values from a GeV to a TeV. We calculate, as a
function of the SIMP-nucleon cross section, the minimum nucleon number A for
which there should be binding in a nucleus. We consider accelerator mass
spectrometry with a gold (A=200) target, and compute the likely abundance of
anomalous gold nuclei if stable neutral SIMPs exist. We also consider the
prospects and problems of detecting such particles at the Tevatron. We estimate
optimistically that such detection might be possible for SIMPs with
SIMP-nucleon cross sections larger than 0.1 millibarn and masses between 25 and

Computed Tomography Predictors of Mortality or Disease Progression in Systemic Sclerosis–Interstitial Lung Disease: A Systematic Review
Objective: Although interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in systemic sclerosis (SSc), its prognostication remains challenging. Given that CT represents the gold standard imaging technique in ILD assessment, a systematic review on chest CT findings as predictors of mortality or ILD progression in SSc-ILD was performed. Materials and Methods: Three databases (Medline, Embase, and Web of Science) were searched to identify all studies analyzing CT mortality or ILD progression predictors in SSc-ILD, from inception to December 2020. ILD progression was defined by worsening of forced vital capacity and/or CT ILD findings. Manuscripts not written in English, with not available full-text, not focusing on SSc-ILD or with SSc-ILD not extrapolated, otherwise with overlap syndromes, pediatric patients, <10 cases or predictors other than CT features were excluded. Results: Out of 3,513 citations, 15 full-texts (2,332 patients with SSc-ILD) met the inclusion criteria. ILD extent and extensive ILD, ILD densitometric analysis parameters, fibrotic extent and reticulation extent resulted as independent mortality predictors. Extensive ILD is also an independent predictor of death, need for supplemental oxygen or lung transplantation. Honeycombing extent is an independent risk factor for respiratory mortality. Independent predictors of ILD progression were not identified. Conclusions: ILD extent and extensive ILD independently predict mortality in SSc-ILD on CT, as well as ILD densitometric analysis, fibrotic extent and reticulation extent. Extensive ILD is also a predictor of death, need for supplemental oxygen, or lung transplantation. Honeycombing extent predicts respiratory mortality. Phenomenology of neutral heavy leptons
We continue our previous work on the flavour-conserving leptonic decays of
the Z boson with neutral heavy leptons (NHL's) in the loops by considering box,
vertex, and self-energy diagrams for the muon decay. By inclusion of these
loops (they contribute to the input parameter M_W) we can probe the full
parameter space spanned by the so-called flavour-conserving mixing parameters
ee_(mix), \mu\mu_(mix), \tau\tau_(mix) in a superstring-inspired model of
neutrino mass. We compare the results of our analysis with the existing work in
this field and conclude that flavour-conserving decays have certain advantages

Developing a questionnaire evaluating knowledge, attitudes and behaviors on audit & feedback among general practitioners. A mixed methods study
Background: Audit and Feedback (A&F) is one of the most common strategies used to improve quality in healthcare. However, there is still lack of awareness regarding the enabling factors and barriers that could influence its effectiveness. The aim of this study was to develop a questionnaire to measure the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of general practitioners (GPs) regarding A&F. The study was performed in the context of the EASY-NET program (project code NET-2016-02364191). Methods: The survey was developed according to two steps. Firstly, a scoping review was performed in order to map the literature on the existing similar instruments with the aim of identifying the sub-domains and possible items to include in a preliminary version of the questionnaire. In the second phase, the questionnaire was reviewed by a multidisciplinary group of experts and administrated to a convenience sample in a pilot survey. Results: Ten papers were included in the scoping review. The survey target and development methodology were heterogenous among the studies. The knowledge, attitudes and behaviors domains were assessed in six, nine and seven studies, respectively. In the first step, 126 pertinent items were extracted and categorized as follows: 8 investigated knowledge, 93 investigated attitudes, and 25 investigated behaviors. Then, 2 sub-domains were identified for knowledge, 14 for attitudes and 7 for behavior. Based on these results, a first version of the survey was developed via consensus among two authors and then revised by the multidisciplinary group of experts in the field of A&F. The final version of the survey included 36 items: 8 in the knowledge domain, 19 in the attitudes domain and 9 in the behaviors domain. The results of the pilot study among 15 GPs suggested a good acceptability and item relevance and accuracy, with positive answers totaling 100% and 93.3% in the proposed questions. Conclusions: The methodology used has shown to be a good strategy for the development of the survey. The survey will be administrated before and after the implementation of an A&F intervention to assess both baseline characteristics and changes after the intervention
Percolation of strings and the first RHIC data on multiplicity and tranverse momentum distributions
The dependence of the multiplicity on the number of collisions and the
transverse momentum distribution for central and peripheral Au-Au collisions
are studied in the model of percolation of strings relative to the experimental
conditions at RHIC. The comparison with the first RHIC data shows a good
