Assessing the Genotypic Differences for Seed Set and Seed Abortion in Tomato Genotypes

    Get PDF
Tomato (_Lycopersicon esculentum_ Mill.) is one of the most popular fruit vegetable around the world. Seed abortion where in only a small proportion of ovules in an ovary develops into matured seeds, is a wide spread phenomenon in multi-ovulated species. In agriculturally important crops such as chickpea, groundnut, Brassica, pigeon pea and field bean seed abortion substantially reduces their productivity. Tomato genotypes exhibited seed abortion where in only some proportion of ovules developed into matured seeds. Seed abortion in tomato cultivars would increase the cost of hybrid seed production. In this study, we have analyzed 19 genotypes for number of ovules, seed set and seed abortion. Tomato genotypes differed significantly for number of ovules per ovary, seed set per fruit and per cent seed abortion. The ovules, matured seeds and seed abortion ranged from 52 to 412 per ovary; 50.90 to 240.76 per fruit and 6.06 to 24.44 per cent respectively. Strong positive correlation was observed in genotypes with higher number of ovules showed higher percentage of seed abortion

The use of tetrafluoroethylene (teflon) in farm equipment for reducing friction

The purpose of this study is to investigate the possibility of the use of Tetrafluoroethylene in farm equipment to reduce friction. The study is confined to the determination of the coefficient of friction of the following agricultural materials with Teflon and to observe their friction characteristics to decide whether there will be reduction in friction in using Teflon in farm equipment: 1. Hay. 2. Grass ensilage. 3. Long alfalfa. 4. Chopped alfalfa

MQTT-Based Distributed Brokers Internet of Things Platform

    Get PDF
Several different types of services for the Internet of Things across large geographic areas have been set up. Most IoT services need the transmission of a large number of very small data packets across long distance networks. This calls for a simplification of the transfer processes. MQ Telemetry Transport is a viable contender for usage as a transfer mechanism (MQTT). In this work, we suggest a virtual ring design for a distributed MQTT broker. ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 41 describes an IoT Data Exchange Platform, and this design follows those specifications. This paper describes the functionality of a distributed broker architecture that use a virtual ring network for realtime communication, and it demonstrates the architecture's superiority via a performance study using queuing models. High speed script execution for GUI automation using computer vision

    Get PDF
Software testing by using open source tool like Selenium windows applications cannot be automated, citrix based applications, flash websites and games. Computer vision based automation tools can be used to automate these kinds of applications.  These automation tools works based on screenshots of GUI objects like button, radio button, text box, images, dropdowns etc. In this paper a prototype of automation tool has been developed which can execute the automation scripts much faster than existing tools like Sikuli, which takes much time to run the Automation scripts. The execution time can be reduced by using this proposed tool

TRENDS IN FOOD CROPS AND NON-FOOD CROPS IN INDIA

Abstract Indian agriculture has been undergoing spectacular changes in recent period. These changes are manifestations of large scale commercialization and diversification taking place in the agricultural sector. The latest changes are basically responses of our agriculture to new economic environment ushered in by the process of liberalization. The present study takes the following as its objectives: To study the development of agriculture sector and its contribution to Indian economy. To examine the production trends of food and non-food crops in India. Before the advent of the British rule, crops such as cotton, tobacco and sugarcane were grown fairly extensively since land revenue had to be paid mostly in cash and the prices of these crops, relative to those of food grains, were much higher at that time. Even during the British rule, the situation did not change much. Indian agriculture recorded a significant acceleration in growth and productivity after independence as compared with the pre-independence period. The major findings of the study are as follows. The contribution of the agriculture and allied sectors to total GDP at current prices in 2000-2001 is 23.35 percent and it gradually reduced and stood at 17.1 percent by the year 2009-10

Investigation of Phishing Attacks and Means to Utilize Anti Phishing Techniques

Advancement of technology have both positive and negative impacts. Some of the negative impacts are cyber crimes. Cyber crimes have become more dangerous. Phishing is one of the cyber crime which results in exploitation of data. There are many phishing attacks which are identified every day. There are different techniques in phishing attacks. We have to reduce those attacks by employing suitable anti-phishing techniques. Some of the anti-phishing techniques and algorithms are discussed in this paper. History of phishing and the lifecycle are also discussed in this paper. People should be aware of all such phishing and the anti-phishing techniques. They have to be careful while checking their mails and should not click on any links or downloadable malware files

Cost variation analysis of various brands of anti-epileptic drugs currently available in Indian pharmaceutical market

Background: Epilepsy is a common neurological disorder affecting about 10 million persons in India. The compliance to a particular antiepileptic drug is highly dependent on the cost of the drug which directly translates into success or failure of therapy. Hence there is a need for all clinicians to keep themselves updated with the latest prices and price variation of the commonly prescribed drugs. This study aims to analyze cost variation of various brands of anti-epileptic drugs currently available in Indian pharmaceutical market. Methods: Current Index of Medical Specialities July-October 2016 edition was referred to know the maximum and minimum price in INR of various brands of anti- epileptic drugs in India. Further analysis was done by using Percentage Cost Variation. Results: There is wide variation in the prices of different brands of same antiepileptic agents in Indian market. The highest % cost variation was found for diazepam 5mg tablet (374.42), followed by lorazepam 2mg tablet (213.63), carbamazepine 100mg syrup/5ml-100ml (172.58), levetiracetam 1000mg FC-tablet (168.57), lamotrigine 25mg DIS- tablet (150), clobazam 10mg tablet (147.37), clonazepam 0.5mg tablet (145.90), oxcarbazepine 150mg tablet (89.46), gabapentin 300mg capsule (71.67), valproic acid 200mg FC-tablet (58.62), divalproex sodium 500mg ER-tablet (47.82), topiramate 50mg tablet (41.66) and lowest % cost variation was of phenytoin sodium 300mg tablet (0.23).Conclusions: The average percentage price variation of different brands of same oral anti-epileptic drug in Indian market is very wide. To counter act such cost variation, physicians should be encouraged to prescribe a medication brand with low cost. This in turn reduces the unnecessary economic burden to the patients
