A discrepancy among technology design, the context of use, and user needs and values is identified as the main reason for this failure. Value-sensitive design (VSD) is a design method enabling to align design with user values by embedding values in technology, yet the method is lacking clear heuristics for practical application. To improve the successful design and implementation of digital health, we propose and evaluate a stepwise approach to VSD. METHODS: The approach consists of the phases: experiment, demonstrate, and validate. Experiment takes place in an office to create makeshift solutions. Demonstrate takes place in a mock-up environment and aims to optimize design requirements through user feedback. The validate phase takes place in an authentic care situation and studies how the novel technology affects current workflows. RESULTS: We applied the stepwise VSD approach to the design of a hospital-based ambient intelligence solution for remotely and continuously monitoring quality and safety of patient care. We particularly focused on embodiment of the values of safety, privacy, and inclusiveness in the design. Design activities of the experiment and demonstrate phase are discussed. CONCLUSIONS: A stepwise approach to VSD enables a design to optimally meet the values of all users involved, while aligning the design process with the practical limitations of healthcare institutions. We discuss some benefits and challenges related to VSD and the potential for transfer of this approach to other digital health solutions

The aim of our study was to examine the digital game addiction levels of the students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences in terms of some variables. The research group of our study consists of 397 randomly selected undergraduate students studying at Firat University Faculty of Sports Sciences and Inonu University Faculty of Sports Sciences in 2019. Frequency of variables (f) and percentage (%) distributions were calculated and two-way variance analysis (ANOVA) was used in multiple group variables and t-test was used for the significance of the difference between the two independent groups. Tukey test was used to determine which groups it was among in the analysis in which significant differences were detected. According to the findings of our study, undergraduate students studying in the departments of Firat University Faculty of Sports Sciences and Inonu University Faculty of Sports Sciences; It was determined that there was no statistically significant difference in the level of digital game dependency of the undergraduate students depending on the department, class, gender and age variables in which they studied. There was a statistically significant difference between digital game dependency levels based on the state of playing the digital game and the daily playing time variables. In line with the study findings, digital game addiction with an average of 2.29 on the digital game addiction scores of undergraduate students studying at Firat University Faculty of Sports Sciences and Inonu University Faculty of Sports Sciences levels were below average

The families of individuals with down-syndrome, autism, and mental problem who need for special requirements experience physical problems, tiredness, and antisocial life, which bring additional cost to family budget, from time to time due to difficulties of their children The aim of this study is to identify family burdens charged by kids with special education needs, and in terms of which variables it becomes different. While the study was designed by the part literature”, obtained from scientific resources, personal information form, in which the demographic information of the families of kids with special needs take place, and the results of family burden assessment score, developed by Sarı and Basbakkal (2008) toward the aim of the study and consisted of 43 questions and 6 sub dimensions, were taken into consideration. In identifying family burdens, with moving from the assumption that mothers have dominant effect, the study was administered to the mothersMajority of the families participating in the study are housewife. Total mean score obtained from family burden scale were 127 in the range of 45 to 215 points. In the study carried out, it was revealed that economic burden resulted from not employed housewives; and among the factors affecting perceived inabilities of mothers with disabled child, the concerns mothers experience toward the future of their children were very difficult case for the mothers. However, families experience a concern in the form of “After my death, who will look after my child? .In the study carried out, it revealed that this case led the burdens of perceived inability to increase; and that the families tried to cope with this case, which causes concern for their kids with special needs. In the world, the sincere of the mothers facing with this kind of difficulties in the face of these cases is a great chance for kids with special needs
