This paper is concerned with a framework which unifies direct torque control space vector modulation (DTC-SVM) and variable structure control (VSC). The result is a hybrid VSC-DTC-SVM controller design which eliminates several major limitations of the two individual controls and retains merits of both controllers. It has been shown that obtained control laws are very sensitive to variations of the stator resistance, the rotor resistance, and the mutual inductance. This paper discusses the performances of adaptive controllers of VSC-DTC-SVM monitored induction motor drive in a wide speed range and even in the presence of parameters uncertainties and mismatching disturbances. Better estimations of the stator resistance, the rotor resistance, and the mutual inductance yield improvements of induction motor performances using VSC-DTC-SVM, thereby facilitating torque ripple minimization. Simulation results verified the performances of the proposed approach

In this context, Fuzzy Fractional Order Proportional Integral Derivative (FOPID-FLC) controllers are emerged as efficient approaches due to their flexibility and ability to handle nonlinearities and uncertainties. This paper proposes the use of a FOPID-FLC controller for a two-degree-of-freedom (2-DOF) lower limb exoskeleton. Our proposal is based on an enhanced control approach that combines fuzzy logic advantages and fractional calculus benefits. Contrary to popular existing methods, that use the FLC to tune the FOPID  parameters, the FLC in this work is used to generate the system torque depending on patient morphology. Indeed, our fundamental contribution is to design and implement an enhanced FOPID-FLC that achieves an adequate optimal control based on system rules composed of optimal torques and input data. The fractional calculus is approximated using successive first order filters. Next, a multi-objective optimization is established for the tuning of each FOPID parameters. Finally, the FLC is used to adjust the torque depending on the kid's age. The effectiveness of the proposed controller in various scenarios is validated based on numerical simulations. Extensive analyses prove that the FOPID-FLC outperforms the FOPID with a 90\% of improvement in terms of error performance indices and 20\% of improvement for the control action. Moreover, the controller exhibits improved robustness against uncertainties and disturbances encountered in rehabilitation environments

Nonlinear Control and Synchronization with Time Delays of Multiagent Robotic Systems

We investigate the cooperative control and global asymptotic synchronization Lagrangian system groups, such as industrial robots. The proposed control approach works to accomplish multirobot systems synchronization under an undirected connected communication topology. The control strategy is to synchronize each robot in position and velocity to others robots in the network with respect to the common desired trajectory. The cooperative robot network only requires local neighbor-to-neighbor information exchange between manipulators and does not assume the existence of an explicit leader in the team. It is assumed that network robots have the same number of joints and equivalent joint work spaces. A combination of the lyapunov-based technique and the cross-coupling method has been used to establish the multirobot system asymptotic stability. The developed control combines trajectory tracking and coordination algorithms. To address the time-delay problem in the cooperative network communication, the suggested synchronization control law is shown to synchronize multiple robots as well as to track given trajectory, taking into account the presence of the time delay. To this end, Krasovskii functional method has been used to deal with the delay-dependent stability problem

Fuzzy Second-Order Sliding Mode Control Design for a Two-Cell DC-DC Converter

    No full text
This paper presents a fuzzy second-order sliding mode controller for a two-cell DC-DC converter. For this aim, a second-order sliding mode controller and a type-2 fuzzy system are combined to achieve an adequate control. For this reason, backgrounds on the type-2 fuzzy sets and on the second-order sliding mode control applied to discrete systems have been presented briefly. A proposed control algorithm is then presented combining these two robust approaches. The asymptotic stability of the overall controlled system has been ensured using the Lyapunov theory. The efficiency and the robustness of the proposed controller have been tested by simulations
