Financial market is growing at faster speed in Saudi Arabia with a policy of economic diversification. This may require the more Electricity Consumption (EC) in turn. This paper has investigated the electricity consumption and Financial Market Development (FMD) nexus incorporating economic growth and urbanization in analyses by using a period 1970-2015 for Saudi Arabia. We have found positive effects of economic growth, urbanization and FMD on the EC in long and short run analyses. Based on results, we recommend the Saudi economy to increase the electricity production capacity through several energy resources especially renewable and clean sources to meet the demand from rising economic growth, urbanization and FMD. The value chain and the target cost play significant role in achieving competitive advantage in many areas where both concepts are complement to each other. The two concepts also aim to reduce cost and maintain product quality. The current research aims to establish a framework of complementary association between value chain analysis and target costing system to achieve competitive advantage in manufacturing companies of Saudi Arabia. The study uses exploratory research to study the problem with the help of a structured questionnaire. The reported results show that target costing aids the manufacturing firms of Saudi Arabia in achieving the competitive advantage, and similar type of result holds with the value chain analysis. However, the target costing method is having an insignificant relationship with competitive advantage when combined with value chain analysis method, even after controlling for difficulties

An examination of a few antecedents of green creativity using structural equation modeling

    No full text
Green creativity is developing original and practical ideas that could result in green products and services. Moreover, as stakeholders favour environmentally responsible policies and practices, organizations are shifting towards green business models and initiatives. Though there is extensive literature on various green behaviours, there is a lack of a clear understanding of what motivates green creativity. The present study bridges this research gap by identifying employee green behaviour, green shared vision, and green value as antecedents of green creativity. The study used structural equation modeling, based on data from 384 respondents, to analyze the relationship between the variables. The findings revealed significant positive relationships between the variables, supporting the model developed for the study. The study’s findings can help organizational leaders to enhance green creativity and consequent innovations by encouraging and facilitating employee green behaviour, green shared vision, and green value

This study aims to examine the influence of corporate social responsibility (CSR) disclosure determinants on profitability of Yemeni Islamic financial institutions. The empirical study was based on a balanced panel for twelve years from 2005 to 2016. Banks’ profitability is measured by four indicators such as return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE), profit after tax (PAT), and earnings per share (EPS), while corporate social responsibility, financial leverage, inflation rate, asset size, and age of Islamic banks are considered as independent variables. The results of this study with regard to ROA indicated that corporate social responsibility, asset size, inflation rate, and age of Islamic banks have a significant influence on profitability (ROA). With respect to ROE, the result indicated that financial leverage, asset size, and inflation rate are the most important variables affecting bank profitability (ROE). Concerning PAT, the outcome revealed that financial leverage and age of Islamic banks have a significant effect on profitability (PAT). Finally, the result with respect to EPS indicated that financial leverage, asset size, inflation rate, and age of Islamic banks have a significant impact on bank profitability (EPS). The result will be beneficial to scholars, investors, stakeholders, managers, and policymakers in the Islamic financial sector

The purpose of this study is to review the field of internal audit (IA) in the Chinese context and provide insights into how the literature of IA has evolved by clarifying criticism of the research published until 2020. Following the structured literature review (SLR) technique, forty-seven (47) studies were identified from two databases. The results show that the IA literature did not contribute significantly to the knowledge of IA functions in the form specified by the Institute of Internal Auditors. The study also revealed that there is more to be explored so as to fully understand the IA aspects and their impact on Chinese institutions. Descriptive research was prevalent, depending on the review of the traditional literature and the historical analysis. On the other hand, the results show that the interpretative research that relied on the case study, questionnaire, and interviews were scarce. The private sector has been little studied compared to that of the public sector. This study highlighted the real IA's practice and identified literature gaps related to the Chinese context. This study is the first comprehensive review that analyse IA research in China. It also contributes to the literature by providing a road map for future studies by interested researchers and academicians, including the Institute of Internal Auditors
