Lack of correlation between metastasis of human rectal carcinoma and the absence of stromal fibronectin.
In a retrospective study we have used an immunoperoxidase procedure to localize the glycoprotein fibronectin in human rectal carcinomas, concentrating on tumour invading thick-walled extramural veins. Fibronectin was present in 29 out of 38 cases, in connective tissue stroma, and was not in direct association with the tumour cells, except in areas of necrosis. We found no correlation between the presence or absence of stromal fibronectin and (1) the degree of cellular differentiation within the tumour, (2) tumour progression (Dukes' classification) (3) the subsequent development of metastases and (4) patient longevity. OUr results do not support the conclusions from in vitro studies (Smith et al., 1979) that the metastatic potential of carcinomas may be partly determined by the ability of tumour cells to synthesize pericellular fibronectin
Ocenka terapevticheskikh osobennostejj preparata Fumidil B, primenjaemogo odnovremenno s podkarmlivaniem zimojj pchel bol'nykh nozemozojj (Nosemosis apis)
On the basis of investigations conducted by the author the following conclusions were reached:
1. The treatment of nosemosis by the use of the medicine "Fumidil B" used with sugar syrup 1 : 1 in the proportion 0,5 g. per one liter in 500 ml. Quantity combined with additional feeding of the bees before winter offers positive results.
2. Higher doses of the therapeutical syrup of the described composition, used in quantities 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 liters per a beehive do not influence the result of the treatment.
3. The medicine "Fumudil B" administred in the above described way protects also the beehives against the development of nosemosis.
4. The use "Fumidil B" does not cause any predisposition to mycosis of the alimentary tract of bees.
5. The medicine "Fumidil B" administered in the described proportion influences favourably the number of the swarms
