Fisheries Refugia Site Management Committee Meeting: Masinloc Site
This report is under the SEAFDEC/UNEP/GEF Project on “Establishment and Operation of a Regional System of Fisheries Refugia in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand”The meeting was attended by the Municipality of Masinloc, Ms. Olive Gregorio, the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer, the LGU Focal Person of the Refugia Project, and NFRDI lead staff held on 8 November 2021. The meeting confirmed the priority species and boundary delineation for Masinloc Refugia. National Guidelines for the Establishment of Fisheries Refugia were addressed, while the initial draft was commented on and endorsed by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA). The action plan will be drafted and include the suggested policies with appropriate fines and penalties and strategies and activitiesUNEP/GE

The activity was held in Puerto Princeasa on 9 January 2020. The workshop aimed to find opportunities to collaborate with various national agencies and other key Institutions to attain synergy of results. However, the workshop did not go as a plan due to the long discussions and time limit.UNEP/GE

This report is under the SEAFDEC/UNEP/GEF Project on “Establishment and Operation of a Regional System of Fisheries Refugia in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand”Fisheries Refugia Stakeholders Consultation Workshop at Masinloc Site was conducted by The National Fisheries Research and Development Institute, at Zambales, on 13-15 November 2018. The meeting aimed to present the importance of establishing a fisheries refugia in the area, goals and objectives, the highlights of the activities conducted in Masinloc, Zambales for year 2017 and 1st quarter of 2018, the initial results of Fisheries Data Collection in Masinloc, the Ichthyoplankton Survey conducted in Masinloc and identification of target species and threats for the establishments of fisheries refugia.
