    peer-reviewedLand plants exist in close association with bacterial and fungal microbes, where some associations can be pathogenic and others can be mutualistic/beneficial. One such relation exists between host plant, Cuminum cyminum L. (Cumin) and Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cumini (Foc), the causal pathogen of cumin wilt and Pseudomonas fluorescens (Pf), where Pf acts as a bio-agent for inhibiting Foc and promoting plant growth of cumin. In this study, antagonism by 10 different Pf isolates against Foc was studied under laboratory conditions through percent growth inhibition and biochemical mechanisms. Among these Pf isolates, Pf-5 exhibited the highest in vitro growth inhibition (82.51%). A positive correlation was observed between percent growth inhibition and specific activities of hydrolytic enzymes, chitinase, β-1, 3 glucanase, and protease, where a negative correlation was observed with cell wall degrading enzymes, cellulase and polygalacturonase. To conclude, isolate Pf-5 could be a potential biocontrol agent for Fusarium wilt disease of cumin

    Multi-terminal HVDC networks are emerging as the most promising technologies to develop such a concept. Moreover, multi-terminal HVDC grids are based on highly controllable devices, which may allow not only transmitting power, but also supporting the AC grids to ensure a secure and stable operation. This paper aims to present an overview of different control schemes for multi-terminal HVDC grids, including the control of the power converters. This paper studies the recent control strategies that have been used in wind farm based HVDC systems. A theoretical analysis of each control strategy has been provided followed by a comparison between their individual characteristic indices as well as their pros and cons.     Wind power is growing rapidly around the world and the offshore wind farm is currently seen as a promising solution to meet the growing demand for renewable energy sources. In addition to increasing the capacity of offshore wind farms and the distance between offshore wind farms and land, high voltage direct current (HVDC) is attractive. In addition, the DC grid may also be interested in connecting wind turbines at the collection level. It is possible to establish a DC grid for the offshore wind farm where the wind energy collection system and the power transmission system use DC technology. Existing grid codes for wind turbines mainly focus on air conditioning systems. Therefore, fault analysis in the DC network and the corresponding fault protection is required for the DC network

    This paper examines the role of art and culture in supporting rural development in the context of critical water challenges. It focuses on an interdisciplinary network and research programme conducted in 2018 with the village of Jhakhoda, in Rajasthan, India. The village has experienced years of declining water quality and has recently turned to rainwater harvesting and other conservation measures as a means to address water challenges. The research team sought to support local NGO and village efforts through creative, regionally specific forms of cultural activity. Through our project, we found that arts approaches can contribute to changes in the way people understand water and environmental challenges and can play a significant role in working towards sustainable water futures

    Streaming Video Analytics On The Edge With Asynchronous Cloud Support

    Emerging Internet of Things (IoT) and mobile computing applications are expected to support latency-sensitive deep neural network (DNN) workloads. To realize this vision, the Internet is evolving towards an edge-computing architecture, where computing infrastructure is located closer to the end device to help achieve low latency. However, edge computing may have limited resources compared to cloud environments and thus, cannot run large DNN models that often have high accuracy. In this work, we develop REACT, a framework that leverages cloud resources to execute large DNN models with higher accuracy to improve the accuracy of models running on edge devices. To do so, we propose a novel edge-cloud fusion algorithm that fuses edge and cloud predictions, achieving low latency and high accuracy. We extensively evaluate our approach and show that our approach can significantly improve the accuracy compared to baseline approaches. We focus specifically on object detection in videos (applicable in many video analytics scenarios) and show that the fused edge-cloud predictions can outperform the accuracy of edge-only and cloud-only scenarios by as much as 50%. We also show that REACT can achieve good performance across tradeoff points by choosing a wide range of system parameters to satisfy use-case specific constraints, such as limited network bandwidth or GPU cycles.Comment: 12 page

Two non-classical C—H⋯O and one C—H⋯N intra­molecular hydrogen bonds are also found in the crystal structure. The piperidin-4-one ring adopts a sofa conforamtion with the 1-benzyl group in the equatorial position, and the equiplanar fluoro­phenyl substituents in the 3- and 5-positions stretched out on either side. The 1-benzyl group is disposed towards the substituent in the 6th position of the piperidin-4-one ring. The 3,5-diene units possess E configurations
