Spectroscopy and stimulated emission of Nd3+ in an acentric CsY2F7 host

    Get PDF
The results of preliminary spectroscopic studies of new fluoride single-crystal CsY2F7 that is activated by Nd3+ ions are given. Direct evidence for the possibility of application of this ordered material as a laser host is given for the first time to our knowledge. Stimulated emission of Nd3+ ions on the main intermultiplet transition is obtained under both nonselective flash-lamp pumping conditions and continuous Ar ion laser pumping conditions. © 1992 Optical Society of America

Polymeric laser-active media: The possibility of lasing and exploitable properties advance

    Get PDF
Laser-spectroscopic studies of polymeric laser-active media based on Rhodamaine 6G dye incorporated into modified Methylmethacrylate with Methacrylic Acid copolymer samples had been carried out. Absorption and luminescence spectra together with luminescence quantum yield were studied. The basic parameters of the laser oscillation and their stability were obtained. The new potential photostabilizator azotes- and sulphurs-containing organic compounds - Thiourea and Thiazol aromatic derivatives was specially synthesized and their role to dye and polymeric host photochemical stability were studied. In this paper it was shown that these synthesized compounds indeed are high effective photostabilizators. Also it was demonstrated that using of these additives leads to significant increasing of laser action efficiency, from one hand and to rising the working characteristics (operational lifetime) of solid-state laser-active media based on the new synthesized polymer composition materials, from other hand

Measurements of thermal properties of crystals CaF2: Ce3+ activated Yb3+ and Lu3+ ions

© Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd. Aim of this work was to investigate parameters of thermal expansion, thermal conductivity, and the temperature coefficient of the refractive index. These data are very important in the development of optical systems of lasers. Measurements of thermal conductivity were carried out using absolute stationary method of longitudinal heat flux. Parameters of thermal expansion and temperature coefficient of the refractive index were obtained by Jamin and Michelson interferometers

The effect of chromophores concentration on the nonlinear optical activity of methacrylic copolymers with azochromophores in the side chain

    Get PDF
© Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd. Quadratic nonlinear-optical characteristics of thin films based on methacrylic copolymers with of chromophore-containing monomers incorporated at various concentrations are measured by Second Harmonic Generation technique. Optimal chromophores content is obtained to be about 17 mol%, rather high values of nonlinear-optical coefficient, d33, up to 60 pm/V, are determined

Spectroscopy and laser performance of in-band pumped Er:LLF and Er:YLF crystals

© 2016 IEEE.Spectroscopic properties and continuous-wave laser performance of in-band pumped Er:LiLuF4 and Er:LiYF4 crystals were investigated. For Er:LiLuF4 crystal maximum slope efficiency of 44 % was obtained at 1609 nm wavelength. Er:LiYF4 crystal laser operation was demonstrated for the first time under in-band pumping. Output power of 58 mW and slope efficiency of 21 % at 1606 nm were achieved

Spectral-kinetic and lasing characteristics of new Nd3+-activated laser hosts of the KF–YF3 system

    Get PDF
The results of the investigation of two new laser hosts are reported. Stimulated emission from Nd3+ ions has been observed for the first time in the two ordered fluoride crystals of the KF–YF3 system: KYF4 (FYK) and K2YF5 (PYFK). The major luminescent and lasing characteristics of the crystals are presented. The stimulated emission spectrum features and application prospects of the new laser hosts are discussed. © 1990 Taylor & Francis Ltd

Spectral kinetic properties of Yb3+:Na4Y 6F22 and Yb3+:LiLuF4 crystals

Yb3+ (2.7 at.%):Na4Y6F22 and Yb3+(1 at.%):LiLuF4 crystals were grown by the Bridgman-Stockbarger method. We measured the temperature dependences of the thermal conductivity of the crystals and the absorption spectra. We determined the radiative lifetime of the Yb3+ ion in these crystals (1.94 msec and 2.13 msec) and calculated the stimulated emission cross section spectra. © 2007 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc

Direct and passive subnanosecond pulse-train generation from a self-injection-seeded ultraviolet solid-state laser

    Get PDF
We propose a passive self-injection-seeding scheme for the generation of short-pulse trains from various pulsed lasers. In this scheme a single subnanosecond pulse is generated from a short-cavity seeding laser. The pulse is then returned to the same gain medium and amplified regeneratively until the gain is quenched completely. Cw operation capability or an external short-pulse seeding laser is not required for generation of short-pulse trains. Based on this simple scheme an ultraviolet subnanosecond pulse train is directly and passively generated from a solid-state laser medium (Ce3+:LuLiF 4) pumped by a standard 10-ns laser. © 1995 Optical Society of America
