The Weyl bundle as a differentiable manifold

Construction of an infinite dimensional differentiable manifold R{\mathbb R}^{\infty} not modelled on any Banach space is proposed. Definition, metric and differential structures of a Weyl algebra and a Weyl algebra bundle are presented. Continuity of the \circ-product in the Tichonov topology is proved. Construction of the *-product of the Fedosov type in terms of theory of connection in a fibre bundle is explained.Comment: 31 pages; revised version - some typoes have been eliminated, notation has been simplifie

    Non-abelian D=11 Supermembrane

We obtain a U(M) action for supermembranes with central charges in the Light Cone Gauge (LCG). The theory realizes all of the symmetries and constraints of the supermembrane together with the invariance under a U(M) gauge group with M arbitrary. The worldvolume action has (LCG) N=8 supersymmetry and it corresponds to M parallel supermembranes minimally immersed on the target M9xT2 (MIM2). In order to ensure the invariance under the symmetries and to close the corresponding algebra, a star-product determined by the central charge condition is introduced. It is constructed with a nonconstant symplectic two-form where curvature terms are also present. The theory is in the strongly coupled gauge-gravity regime. At low energies, the theory enters in a decoupling limit and it is described by an ordinary N=8 SYM in the IR phase for any number of M2-branes.Comment: Contribution to the Proceedings of the Dubna International SQS'09 Workshop ("Supersymmetries and Quantum Symmetries-2009", July 29 - August 3, 2009. 12pg, Late

\ast-SDYM Fields and Heavenly Spaces. I. \ast-SDYM equations as an integrable system

It is shown that the self-dual Yang-Mills (SDYM) equations for the \ast-bracket Lie algebra on a heavenly space can be reduced to one equation (the \it master equation\rm). Two hierarchies of conservation laws for this equation are constructed. Then the twistor transform and a solution to the Riemann-Hilbert problem are given.Comment: 25 page

Deformation Quantization of Geometric Quantum Mechanics

    Get PDF
Second quantization of a classical nonrelativistic one-particle system as a deformation quantization of the Schrodinger spinless field is considered. Under the assumption that the phase space of the Schrodinger field is CC^{\infty}, both, the Weyl-Wigner-Moyal and Berezin deformation quantizations are discussed and compared. Then the geometric quantum mechanics is also quantized using the Berezin method under the assumption that the phase space is CPCP^{\infty} endowed with the Fubini-Study Kahlerian metric. Finally, the Wigner function for an arbitrary particle state and its evolution equation are obtained. As is shown this new "second quantization" leads to essentially different results than the former one. For instance, each state is an eigenstate of the total number particle operator and the corresponding eigenvalue is always 1{1 \over \hbar}.Comment: 27+1 pages, harvmac file, no figure

    Deformation Quantization of Bosonic Strings

Deformation quantization of bosonic strings is considered. We show that the light-cone gauge is the most convenient classical description to perform the quantization of bosonic strings in the deformation quantization formalism. Similar to the field theory case, the oscillator variables greatly facilitates the analysis. The mass spectrum, propagators and the Virasoro algebra are finally described within this deformation quantization scheme.Comment: 33+1 pages, harvmac file, no figure

Deformation quantization of linear dissipative systems

A simple pseudo-Hamiltonian formulation is proposed for the linear inhomogeneous systems of ODEs. In contrast to the usual Hamiltonian mechanics, our approach is based on the use of non-stationary Poisson brackets, i.e. corresponding Poisson tensor is allowed to explicitly depend on time. Starting from this pseudo-Hamiltonian formulation we develop a consistent deformation quantization procedure involving a non-stationary star-product t*_t and an ``extended'' operator of time derivative Dt=t+...D_t=\partial_t+..., differentiating the t\ast_t-product. As in the usual case, the t\ast_t-algebra of physical observables is shown to admit an essentially unique (time dependent) trace functional Trt\mathrm{Tr}_t. Using these ingredients we construct a complete and fully consistent quantum-mechanical description for any linear dynamical system with or without dissipation. The general quantization method is exemplified by the models of damped oscillator and radiating point charge.Comment: 14 pages, typos correcte

    Uncertainty Relations in Deformation Quantization

Robertson and Hadamard-Robertson theorems on non-negative definite hermitian forms are generalized to an arbitrary ordered field. These results are then applied to the case of formal power series fields, and the Heisenberg-Robertson, Robertson-Schr\"odinger and trace uncertainty relations in deformation quantization are found. Some conditions under which the uncertainty relations are minimized are also given.Comment: 28+1 pages, harvmac file, no figures, typos correcte

First order parent formulation for generic gauge field theories

We show how a generic gauge field theory described by a BRST differential can systematically be reformulated as a first order parent system whose spacetime part is determined by the de Rham differential. In the spirit of Vasiliev's unfolded approach, this is done by extending the original space of fields so as to include their derivatives as new independent fields together with associated form fields. Through the inclusion of the antifield dependent part of the BRST differential, the parent formulation can be used both for on and off-shell formulations. For diffeomorphism invariant models, the parent formulation can be reformulated as an AKSZ-type sigma model. Several examples, such as the relativistic particle, parametrized theories, Yang-Mills theory, general relativity and the two dimensional sigma model are worked out in details.Comment: 36 pages, additional sections and minor correction
