    Russian-Polish Relations at the Turn of the “Long XII Century”: from the “Pereyaslavl Crisis” to the Death of Roman Galitsky

    This article is a continuation of the work “The Polish Vector in the Politics of Vladimir Monomakh and His  Successors: from the Lyubech Congress to the “Pereyaslavl Crisis”, published in the previous issue. The question of the system of Russian-Polish relations during the period of the onset of political fragmentation of Russia (since 1132) and a radical change in the balance of power relative to the Kiev principality is considered in the article. It is proved that the thesis of the religious factor as decisive in Russian-Polish relations does not correspond to the realities of the 30—90s of the 12th century. It is shown that the internal and external political circumstances of the 30—40s of the XII century forced Kiev and Krakow to come closer. It is emphasized that the trend towards rapprochement continues throughout the second half of the 12th century. Particular attention is paid to the nature  of Russian-Polish relations at the turn of the XII-XIII centuries. The authors note that the situation in Russian-Polish relations begins to change dramatically in the first decade of the 13th century. Evidence is given that the reasons for the cardinal changes were associated with the political course of the Galician-Volyn prince Roman Mstislavich and the results of the IV Crusade, which marked the beginning of the civilizational split in Europe

    The question of the system of Russian-Polish interaction during the period of temporary stabilization of political relations in Russia - from the Lyubech Congress (1097) to the end of the Kiev reign of Mstislav the Great (1125-1132) is considered in the article. The authors show that the 12th century is presented in historiography as a time of gradual growth of contradictions between two Christian civilizations, as a transitional period between the Great Schism of 1054 and the IV Crusade (1202- 1204). An attempt is made to consider the relationship between Russia and Poland of the indicated period outside the teleological approach. The authors provide evidence that the thesis of the religious factor as decisive in Russian-Polish relations does not correspond to the political realities of the 10- 30s of the XII century. It is shown that it was the ideological orientation of Vladimir Monomakh towards the crusading movement and the Holy Roman Empire that made it impossible for allied relations between Kiev and Krakow in the first quarter of the 12th century. It has been proved that there was no single policy of Rus towards Poland; the actions of the two sides were situational. The authors come to the conclusion that in Russia and Poland, competing political groups sought to implement their own strategies in relation to the neighboring state

    Interchangeability of Essential Phospholipid Products

    A significant share of the hepatoprotectors pharmaceutical market is represented by innovator and generic products containing essential phospholipids. One of the main issues in pharmacotherapy is confirmation of similarity between reference and generic products, which helps to assess their interchangeability. Therefore, it seems relevant to conduct comparative studies examining the products’ formulations (content of active pharmaceutical ingredients and excipients), dosage forms and routes of administration to identify characteristics that can affect interchangeability of essential phospholipid products. The objective of the study was to analyse interchangeability of generic and reference hepatoprotectors containing essential phospholipids. The nomenclature of essential phospholipids (oral (capsules), parenteral (solution for intravenous infusion and lyophilisate for solution for intravenous infusion), and topical (gel for cutaneous use) dosage forms) is given in accordance with the State Register of Medicinal Products, information storage and retrieval systems, and library databases (eLibrary, PubMed, CyberLeninka, ResearchGate).There was a significant difference in the content of phosphatidylcholine (29—93 %) in phospholipid substances produced by different manufacturers; minor differences were found in the quantitative composition of excipients in solutions, and significant differences were observed in the composition and quantities of excipients in capsules, which is most likely attributed to different production methods. The obtained data may be used to optimise pharmaceutical development and assess interchangeability of essential phospholipid products

    Pseudomembranous colitis complicated by toxic megacolon in oncological patients

    In recent years, information on the increase in the incidence of  infection associated with Clostridioides difficile (CDI) has appeared in the literature. It is known that C. difficile which causes pseudomembranous colitis (PMC) most often affects debilitated patients who receive treatment for the main pathology for a long time. That is why PMC is most common in cancer patients receiving long-term and aggressive anticancer treatment, which is often accompanied by the use of several courses of antibiotics. The result of the irrational use of antibiotics, incorrect PMC therapy may be the  formation of toxic megacolon, intestinal perforation, sepsis, which in turn is fraught with a fatal outcome. It is this state of affairs that aroused our interest in the study of this topic. The steady increase in the incidence of Clostridioides difficile infection makes it particularly relevant to study CDI problem in relation to cancer patients, since they most often have a wide range of risk factors for developing clostridial infection. The article presents an overview of domestic and foreign sources describing this pathology, discusses epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical picture and current understanding of the CDI treatment. At the end of the review, we present a case of successful treatment of pseudomembranous colitis after stoma closure, which was complicated by the development of toxic megacolon. Colproctectomy was performed as part of the complex treatment of this pathology. The patient received respiratory, renal replacement, hepatoprotective, antibiotic and antifungal therapy and other treatments

    Liposomes as Drug Carriers: Classification, Preparation Methods, and Medicinal Use

    Liposomes are one of the most well-known and promising nanoscale drug delivery systems. Liposomal medicinal products are successfully used in clinical practice for cardiovascular, oncological, dermatological, and other indications. The development of liposomes and their widespread implementation in clinical practice are relevant tasks.The aim of the study was to summarise and analyse scientific data regarding the structure, composition, and classification of liposomes, as well as specific aspects of liposome production methods.This review covers up-to-date information on marketed liposomal medicinal products. The authors illustrate how production methods affect the composition and structure of liposomes. The size and lamellarity are important characteristics of liposomes that determine the encapsulation efficiency and biodistribution of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). The choice of excipients depends on the intended use of liposomal medicinal products. The article summarises the main liposome production methods, highlighting specific usage aspects, advantages and disadvantages. Conventional liposome production methods are easy to apply and do not require complex equipment, and their principal disadvantages include the low efficiency of API encapsulation within liposomes and the high complexity of scaling up technological processes. The authors pay special attention to microfluidic techniques for liposome preparation, which are characterised by a highly controlled technological process (in terms of size distribution and lamellarity), high reproducibility, and scalability to the level of industrial production and are applicable to encapsulating different APIs

    Quantum interference of surface states in bismuth nanowires probed by the Aharonov-Bohm oscillatory behavior of the magnetoresistance

    We report the observation of a dependence of the low temperature resistance of individual single-crystal bismuth nanowires on the Aharonov-Bohm phase of the magnetic flux threading the wire. 55 and 75-nm wires were investigated in magnetic fields of up to 14 T. For 55 nm nanowires, longitudinal magnetoresistance periods of 0.8 and 1.6 T that were observed at magnetic fields over 4 T are assigned to h/2e to h/e magnetic flux modulation. The same modes of oscillation were observed in 75-nm wires. The observed effects are consistent with models of the Bi surface where surface states give rise to a significant population of charge carriers of high effective mass that form a highly conducting tube around the nanowire. In the 55-nm nanowires, the Fermi energy of the surface band is estimated to be 15 meV. An interpretation of the magnetoresistance oscillations in terms of a subband structure in the surface states band due to quantum interference in the tube is presented.Comment: 30 pages, 9 figure
