Some features of the fabrication of multilayer fiber composites by explosive welding
The fabrication of multilayer fiber composites by explosive welding is characterized by intense plastic deformation of the matrix material as it fills the spaces between fibers and by high velocity of the collision between matrix layers due to acceleration in the channels between fibers. The plastic deformation of the matrix layers and fiber-matrix friction provide mechanical and thermal activation of the contact surfaces, which contributes to the formation of a bond. An important feature of the process is that the fiber-matrix adhesion strength can be varied over a wide range by varying the parameters of impulsive loading
Study of shear viscosity of SU (2)-gluodynamics within lattice simulation
This paper is devoted to the study of two-point correlation function of the
energy-momentum tensor T_{12}T_{12} for SU(2)-gluodynamics within lattice
simulation of QCD. Using multilevel algorithm we carried out the measurement of
the correlation function at the temperature T/T_c = 1.2. It is shown that
lattice data can be described by spectral functions which interpolate between
hydrodynamics at low frequencies and asymptotic freedom at high frequencies.
The results of the study of spectral functions allowed us to estimate the ratio
of shear viscosity to the entropy density {\eta}/s = 0.134 +- 0.057.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figure
Theory of Anisotropic Hopping Transport due to Spiral Correlations in the Spin-Glass Phase of Underdoped Cuprates
We study the in-plane resistivity anisotropy in the spin-glass phase of the
high- cuprates, on the basis of holes moving in a spiral spin
background. This picture follows from analysis of the extended model with
Coulomb impurities. In the variable-range hopping regime the resistivity
anisotropy is found to have a maximum value of around 90%, and it decreases
with temperature, in excellent agreement with experiments in
LaSrCuO. In our approach the transport anisotropy is due to the
non-collinearity of the spiral spin state, rather than an intrinsic tendency of
the charges to self-organize.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures; expanded versio
Reply to Comment on "Quantum phase transition in the four-spin exchange antiferromagnet"
We argue that our analysis of the J-Q model, presented in Phys. Rev. B 80,
174403 (2009), and based on a field-theory description of coupled dimers,
captures properly the strong quantum fluctuations tendencies, and the
objections outlined by L. Isaev, G. Ortiz, and J. Dukelsky, arXiv:1003.5205,
are misplaced
Low-energy singlet and triplet excitations in the spin-liquid phase of the two-dimensional J1-J2 model
We analyze the stability of the spontaneously dimerized spin-liquid phase of
the frustrated Heisenberg antiferromagnet - the J1-J2 model. The lowest triplet
excitation, corresponding to breaking of a singlet bond, is found to be stable
in the region 0.38 < J2/J1 < 0.62. In addition we find a stable low-energy
collective singlet mode, which is closely related to the spontaneous violation
of the discrete symmetry. Both modes are gapped in the quantum disordered phase
and become gapless at the transition point to the Neel ordered phase
(J2/J1=0.38). The spontaneous dimerization vanishes at the transition and we
argue that the disappearance of dimer order is related to the vanishing of the
singlet gap. We also present exact diagonalization data on a small (4x4)
cluster which indeed show a structure of the spectrum, consistent with that of
a system with a four-fold degenerate (spontaneously dimerized) ground state.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures, small changes, published versio
Spin 1/2 Magnetic Impurity in a 2D Magnetic System Close to Quantum Critical Point
We consider a magnetic impurity in a spin liquid state of a magnetic system
which is close to the quantum phase transition to the magnetically ordered
state. There is similarity between this problem and the Kondo problem. We
derive the impurity Green's function, consider renormalizations of the magnetic
moments of the impurity, calculate critical indexes for the magnetic
susceptibilities and finally consider specific heat and magnetic interaction of
two impurities.Comment: 9 pages, 9 figure
