Long-term effects of aripiprazole exposure on monoaminergic and glutamatergic receptor subtypes: comparison with cariprazine
OBJECTIVE: This study examined the chronic effects of aripiprazole and cariprazine on serotonin (5-HT1A and 5-HT2A) and glutamate (NMDA and AMPA) receptor subtypes. In addition, the effects of aripiprazole on D2 and D3 receptors were tested and compared with previously reported cariprazine data. METHODS: Rats received vehicle, aripiprazole (2, 5, or 15 mg/kg), or cariprazine (0.06, 0.2, or 0.6 mg/kg) for 28 days. Receptor levels were quantified using autoradiographic assays on brain sections from the medial prefrontal cortex (MPC), dorsolateral frontal cortex (DFC), nucleus accumbens (NAc), caudate-putamen medial (CPu-M), caudate-putamen lateral (CPu-L), hippocampal CA1 (HIPP-CA1) and CA3 (HIPP-CA3) regions, and the entorhinal cortex (EC). RESULTS: Similar to previous findings with cariprazine, aripiprazole upregulated D2 receptor levels in various regions; D3 receptor changes were less than those reported with cariprazine. All aripiprazole doses and higher cariprazine doses increased 5-HT1A receptors in the MPC and DFC. Higher aripiprazole and all cariprazine doses increased 5-HT1A receptors in HIPP-CA1 and HIPP-CA3. Aripiprazole decreased 5-HT2A receptors in the MPC, DFC, HIPP-CA1, and HIPP-CA3 regions. Both compounds decreased NMDA receptors and increased AMPA receptors in select brain regions. CONCLUSIONS: Long-term administration of aripiprazole and cariprazine had similar effects on 5-HT1A, NMDA, and AMPA receptors. However, cariprazine more profoundly increased D3 receptors while aripiprazole selectively reduced 5-HT2A receptors. These results suggest that the unique actions of cariprazine on dopamine D3 receptors, combined with its effects on serotonin and glutamate receptor subtypes, may confer the clinical benefits, safety, and tolerability of this novel compound in schizophrenia and bipolar mania
Neo-LVOT and Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement: Expert Recommendations
With the advent of transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR), the concept of the neo-left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) was introduced and remains an essential component of treatment planning. This paper describes the LVOT anatomy and provides a step-by-step computed tomography methodology to segment and measure the neo-LVOT while discussing the current evidence and outstanding challenges. It also discusses the technical and hemodynamic factors that play a major role in assessing the neo-LVOT. A summary of expert-based recommendations about the overall risk of LVOT obstruction in different scenarios is presented along with the currently available methods to reduce the risk of LVOT obstruction and other post-procedural complications
Probing BFKL Dynamics in the Dijet Cross Section at Large Rapidity Intervals in ppbar Collisions at sqrt{s}=1800 and 630 GeV
Inclusive dijet production at large pseudorapidity intervals (delta_eta)
between the two jets has been suggested as a regime for observing BFKL
dynamics. We have measured the dijet cross section for large delta_eta in ppbar
collisions at sqrt{s}=1800 and 630 GeV using the DO detector. The partonic
cross section increases strongly with the size of delta_eta. The observed
growth is even stronger than expected on the basis of BFKL resummation in the
leading logarithmic approximation. The growth of the partonic cross section can
be accommodated with an effective BFKL intercept of
a_{BFKL}(20GeV)=1.65+/-0.07.Comment: Published in Physical Review Letter
Search for bottom squarks in pbarp collisions at sqrt(s)=1.8 TeV
We report on a search for bottom squarks produced in pbarp collisions at
sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV using the D0 detector at Fermilab. Bottom squarks are assumed
to be produced in pairs and to decay to the lightest supersymmetric particle
(LSP) and a b quark with branching fraction of 100%. The LSP is assumed to be
the lightest neutralino and stable. We set limits on the production cross
section as a function of bottom squark mass and LSP mass.Comment: 5 pages, Latex. submitted 3-12-1999 to PRD - Rapid Communicatio
Spin Correlation in tt-bar Production from pp-bar Collisions at sqrt(s)=1.8 TeV
The D0 collaboration has performed a study of spin correlation in tt-bar
production for the process tt-bar to bb-bar W^+W^-, where the W bosons decay to
e-nu or mu-nu. A sample of six events was collected during an exposure of the
D0 detector to an integrated luminosity of approximately 125 pb^-1 of
sqrt{s}=1.8 TeV pp-bar collisions. The standard model (SM) predicts that the
short lifetime of the top quark ensures the transmission of any spin
information at production to the tt-bar decay products.
The degree of spin correlation is characterized by a correlation coefficient
k. We find that k>-0.25 at the 68% confidence level, in agreement with the SM
prediction of k=0.88.Comment: Submitted to PRL, Added references, minor changes to tex
Search for Charged Higgs Bosons in Decays of Top Quark Pairs
We present a search for charged Higgs bosons in decays of pair-produced top
quarks using 109.2 +- 5.8 pb^-1 of data recorded from ppbar collisions at
sqrt{s} = 1.8 TeV by the D0 detector during 1992-96 at the Fermilab Tevatron.
No evidence is found for charged Higgs production, and most parts of the
[m(H+),tan(beta)] parameter space where the decay t -> bH+ has a branching
fraction close to or larger than that for t -> bW+ are excluded at 95%
confidence level. Assuming m(t) = 175 GeV and sigma(ppbar -> ttbar) = 5.5 pb,
for m(H+) = 60 GeV, we exclude tan(beta) 40.9.Comment: 11 pages, 3 figures, submitted to PR
Search for Squarks and Gluinos in Events Containing Jets and a Large Imbalance in Transverse Energy
Using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 79 pb-1, D0 has
searched for events containing multiple jets and large missing transverse
energy in pbar-p collisions at sqrt(s)=1.8 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron
collider. Observing no significant excess beyond what is expected from the
standard model, we set limits on the masses of squarks and gluinos and on the
model parameters m_0 and m_1/2, in the framework of the minimal low-energy
supergravity models of supersymmetry. For tan(beta) = 2 and A_0 = 0, with mu <
0, we exclude all models with m_squark < 250 GeV/c^2. For models with equal
squark and gluino masses, we exclude m < 260 GeV/c^2.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figures, Submitted to PRL, Fixed typo on page bottom of

Measurement of the Boson Mass
A measurement of the mass of the boson is presented based on a sample of
5982 decays observed in collisions at
= 1.8~TeV with the D\O\ detector during the 1992--1993 run. From a
fit to the transverse mass spectrum, combined with measurements of the
boson mass, the boson mass is measured to be .Comment: 12 pages, LaTex, style Revtex, including 3 postscript figures

Search for Top Squark Pair Production in the Dielectron Channel
This report describes the first search for top squark pair production in the
channel stop_1 stopbar_1 -> b bbar chargino_1 chargino_1 -> ee+jets+MEt using
74.9 +- 8.9 pb^-1 of data collected using the D0 detector. A 95% confidence
level upper limit on sigma*B is presented. The limit is above the theoretical
expectation for sigma*B for this process, but does show the sensitivity of the
current D0 data set to a particular topology for new physics.Comment: Five pages, including three figures, submitted to PRD Brief Report
Search for a Fourth Generation Charge -1/3 Quark via Flavor Changing Neutral Current Decay
We report on a search for pair production of a fourth generation charge -1/3
quark (b') in pbar p collisions at sqrt(s) = 1.8 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron
using an integrated luminosity of 93 pb^-1. Both quarks are assumed to decay
via flavor changing neutral currents (FCNC). The search uses the signatures
gamma + 3 jets + mu-tag and 2 gamma + 2 jets. We see no significant excess of
events over the expected background. We place an upper limit on the production
cross section times branching fraction that is well below theoretical
expectations for a b' quark decaying exclusively via FCNC for b' quark masses
up to m(Z) + m(b).Comment: Eleven pages, two postscript figures, submitted to Physical Review
