In the above mentioned examination on dogs who received small doses of (1(11, by inhalation over a period of two months, simultaneous administration of lipotropic substances (met hionin. cholin, inositol) prevented fat infiltration of the liver as well as glycogen deposit. Comparison of the histological preparations with determination of the total liver fats showed that lipophanerosis is prevented because the total fat content in both series was increased to the same extent but with no fat infiltration in the seric which did not receive lipotropic substances. This observation leads to the idea that lipotropic substances contribute considerably to the maintenance or even formation id lipoprotein complexes of the liver cell and supports the view that lipophanerosis participates in fat infiltration of the liver. © 1958 S.
