    Classification of N=2 supersymmetric CFT_{4}s: Indefinite Series

    Using geometric engineering method of 4D N=2\mathcal{N}=2 quiver gauge theories and results on the classification of Kac-Moody (KM) algebras, we show on explicit examples that there exist three sectors of N=2\mathcal{N}=2 infrared CFT4_{4}s. Since the geometric engineering of these CFT4_{4}s involve type II strings on K3 fibered CY3 singularities, we conjecture the existence of three kinds of singular complex surfaces containing, in addition to the two standard classes, a third indefinite set. To illustrate this hypothesis, we give explicit examples of K3 surfaces with H34_{3}^{4} and E10_{10} hyperbolic singularities. We also derive a hierarchy of indefinite complex algebraic geometries based on affine ArA_{r} and T%_{(p,q,r)} algebras going beyond the hyperbolic subset. Such hierarchical surfaces have a remarkable signature that is manifested by the presence of poles.Comment: 12 pages, 2 figure

    Phlebotomus sergenti in a Cutaneous Leishmaniasis Focus in Azilal Province (High Atlas, Morocco): Molecular Detection and Genotyping of Leishmania tropica, and Feeding Behavior

    International audienceBackground Phlebotomus (Paraphlebotomus) sergenti is at least one of the confirmed vectors for the transmission of cutaneous leishmaniasis caused by Leishmania tropica and distributed widely in Morocco. This form of leishmaniasis is considered largely as anthroponotic, although dogs were found infected with Leishmania tropica, suggestive of zoonosis in some rural areas. Methodology and Findings This survey aimed at (i) studying the presence of Leishmania in field caught Phlebotomus sergenti, (ii) investigating genetic diversity within Leishmania tropica and (iii) identifying the host-blood feeding preferences of Phlebotomus sergenti. A total of 4,407 sand flies were collected in three rural areas of Azilal province, using CDC miniature light traps. Samples collected were found to consist of 13 species: Phlebotomus spp. and 3 Sergentomyia spp. The most abundant species was Phlebotomus sergenti, accounting for 45.75% of the total. 965 female Phlebotomus sergenti were screened for the presence of Leishmania by ITS1-PCR-RFLP, giving a positive rate of 5.7%(55/965), all being identified as Leishmania tropica. Nucleotide heterogeneity of PCR-amplified ITS1-5.8S rRNA gene-ITS2 was noted. Analyses of 31 sequences obtained segregated them into 16 haplotypes, of which 7 contain superimposed peaks at certain nucleotide positions, suggestive of heterozygosity. Phlebotomus sergenti collected were found to feed on a large variety of vertebrate hosts, as determined by Cytochrome b sequencing of the DNA from the blood meals of 64 engorged females. Conclusion Our findings supported the notion that Phlebotomus sergenti is the primary vector of Leishmania tropica in this focus, and that the latter is genetically very heterogeneous. Furthermore, our results might be suggestive of a certain level of heterozygosity in Leishmania tropica population. This finding, as well as the feeding of the vectors on different animals are of interest for further investigation

    Mutation Symmetries in BPS Quiver Theories: Building the BPS Spectra

    We study the basic features of BPS quiver mutations in 4D N=2\mathcal{N}=2 supersymmetric quantum field theory with G=ADEG=ADE gauge symmetries.\ We show, for these gauge symmetries, that there is an isotropy group GMutG\mathcal{G}_{Mut}^{G} associated to a set of quiver mutations capturing information about the BPS spectra. In the strong coupling limit, it is shown that BPS chambers correspond to finite and closed groupoid orbits with an isotropy symmetry group GstrongG\mathcal{G}_{strong}^{G} isomorphic to the discrete dihedral groups Dih2hGDih_{2h_{G}} contained in Coxeter(G)(G) with % h_{G} the Coxeter number of G. These isotropy symmetries allow to determine the BPS spectrum of the strong coupling chamber; and give another way to count the total number of BPS and anti-BPS states of N=2\mathcal{N}=2 gauge theories. We also build the matrix realization of these mutation groups GstrongG% \mathcal{G}_{strong}^{G} from which we read directly the electric-magnetic charges of the BPS and anti-BPS states of N=2\mathcal{N}=2 QFT4_{4} as well as their matrix intersections. We study as well the quiver mutation symmetries in the weak coupling limit and give their links with infinite Coxeter groups. We show amongst others that Gweaksu2\mathcal{G}_{weak}^{su_{2}} is contained in GL(2,Z){GL}({2,}\mathbb{Z}) ; and isomorphic to the infinite Coxeter I2{I_{2}^{\infty}}.     On Local Calabi-Yau Supermanifolds and Their Mirrors

    We use local mirror symmetry to study a class of local Calabi-Yau super-manifolds with bosonic sub-variety V_b having a vanishing first Chern class. Solving the usual super- CY condition, requiring the equality of the total U(1) gauge charges of bosons \Phi_{b} and the ghost like fields \Psi_{f} one \sum_{b}q_{b}=\sum_{f}Q_{f}, as \sum_{b}q_{b}=0 and \sum_{f}Q_{f}=0, several examples are studied and explicit results are given for local A_{r} super-geometries. A comment on purely fermionic super-CY manifolds corresponding to the special case where q_{b}=0, \forall b and \sum_{f}Q_{f}=0 is also made.\bigskipComment: 17 page

    Removal of Tannic Acid From Aqueous Solution by Cloud Point Extraction and Investigation of Surfactant Regeneration by Microemulsion Extraction

    The aim of this work is the extraction of tannic acid (TA) with two commercial nonionic surfactants, separately: Lutensol ON 30 and Triton X-114 (TX-114).The experimental cloud point extraction results are expressed by four responses to surfactant concentration and temperature variations: extent of TA extraction (E), remaining solute (X s,w) and surfactant (X t,w) concentrations in dilute phase and volume fraction of coacervate (Φc) at equilibrium. An empirical smoothing method was used and the results are represented on three dimensional plots. In optimal conditions, the extraction extent of TA reaches 95 and 87 % using TX-114 and Lutensol ON 30, respectively. Sodium sulfate, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) addition and pH effect are also studied. Finally, the possibility of recycling of the surfactant is proved

    Coulometric sizing of nanoparticles: Cathodic and anodic impact experiments open two independent routes to electrochemical sizing of Fe3O4 nanoparticles

    Anodic particle coulometry (APC) is a recently established method of sizing individual metal nanoparticles by oxidising them during their impact on a micro electrode. Here it is demonstrated that the application of APC can be extended to sizing of metal oxide nanoparticles, such as FeO magnetite nanoparticles. Additionally, a new route to electrochemical nanoparticle sizing is introduced-cathodic particle coulometry (CPC). This method uses the reduction of impacting nanoparticles, e.g., metal oxide nanoparticles, and is demonstrated to yield correct size information for FeO nanoparticles. The combination of these two independent electrochemical methods of nanoparticle sizing, allows for purely electrochemical sizing of single nanoparticles and simultaneous verification of the obtained results.
