    An intra-vehicular wireless sensor network based on Android mobile devices and bluetooth low energy

    This chapter presents the development and test of an intra-vehicular wireless sensor network (IVWSN), based on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), designed to present to the driver, in real-time, information collected from multiple sensors distributed inside of the car, using a human-machine interface (HMI) implemented on an Android smartphone. The architecture of the implemented BLE network is composed by the smartphone, which has the role of central station, and two BLE modules (peripheral stations) based on the CC2540 system-on-chip (SoC), which collect relevant sensor information from the battery system and the traction system of a plug-in electric car. Results based on an experimental performance evaluation of the wireless network show that the network is able to satisfy the application requirements, as long as the network parameters are properly configured taking into account the peculiarities of the BLE data transfer modes and the observed limitations of the BLE platform used in the implementation of the IVWSN.This work is supported by FCT with the reference project UID/EEA/04436/2013, COMPETE 2020 with the code POCI-01-0145-FEDER-006941

    Rhabdomyoma, by definition is a benign muscle tumour.. Rhabdomyomas constitute 2% of all myogenous neoplasms. This tumour is in incongruence with other benign soft tissue tumours, in that it is rarer than its malignant counterpart. They are broadly categorised as cardiac and extra-cardiac. Three different subtypes exists as 1) the adult type, 2) the fetal type and 3) the genital type, the adult type being the most common.[1] AR (Adult Rhabdomyoma) generally occurs in the 4th and 5th decade with a male predilection.[2] There have been very few presentations of this lesion in the paediatric age group.     Diagnostic accuracy of nipple aspirate fluid cytology in asymptomatic patients: a meta-analysis and systematic review of the literature

    PURPOSE: To calculate the diagnostic accuracy of nipple aspirate fluid (NAF) cytology. BACKGROUND: Evaluation of NAF cytology in asymptomatic patients conceptually offers a non-invasive method for either screening for breast cancer or else predicting or stratifying future cancer risk. METHODS: Studies were identified by performing electronic searches up to August 2019. A meta-analysis was conducted to attain an overall pooled sensitivity and specificity of NAF for breast cancer detection. RESULTS: A search through 938 studies yielded a total of 19 studies. Overall, 9308 patients were examined, with cytology results from 10,147 breasts [age (years), mean ± SD = 49.73 ± 4.09 years]. Diagnostic accuracy meta-analysis of NAF revealed a pooled specificity of 0.97 (95% CI 0.97-0.98), and sensitivity of 0.64 (95% CI 0.62-0.66). CONCLUSIONS: The diagnostic accuracy of nipple smear cytology is limited by poor sensitivity. If nipple fluid assessment is to be used for diagnosis, then emerging technologies for fluid biomarker analysis must supersede the current diagnostic accuracy of NAF cytology
