Facilities which parent provide in the form of gadgets are not infrequently abused by the child. Gadgets that can be used as a supporting medium children to learn more commonly used as a medium of entertainment, such as games. In the current era, it is not rare to find that people are not too interested in reading the Bible. Not only in the adult population, but also in teenagers and children. Children tend to only know one or two salient life stories of Bible characters. As to the character of David, the children tend to recognize David as someone who beat Goliath the Philistine commander. But other than that, most children do not know the story of David\u27s life more. This application is an interactive media that can be used by children to be able to recognize the biblical figures like David and Joseph. At each stage of the application that requires a reference to the Bible, has been provided so that children can directly read the reference and can also play this application. Overall this application helps children get to know the Bible figure better. The application used to create interactive media are Android Studio and supported by AndEngine

Environmental and Lifestyle Factors Associated with Perceived Facial Age in Chinese Women

Perceived facial age has been proposed as a biomarker of ageing with ‘looking young for one’s age' linked to physical and cognitive functioning and to increased survival for Caucasians. We have investigated the environmental and lifestyle factors associated with perceived facial ageing in Chinese women. Facial photographs were collected from 250 Chinese women, aged 25–70 years in Shanghai, China. Perceived facial age was determined and related to chronological age for each participant. Lifestyle and health information was collected by questionnaire. Bivariate analyses (controlling for chronological age) identified and quantified lifestyle variables associated with perceived facial age. Independent predictors of perceived age were identified by multivariate modelling. Factors which significantly associated with looking younger for one's chronological age included greater years of education (p<0.001), fewer household members (p = 0.027), menopausal status (p = 0.020), frequency of visiting one's doctor (p = 0.013), working indoors (p<0.001), spending less time in the sun (p = 0.015), moderate levels of physical activity (p = 0.004), higher frequency of teeth cleaning (p<0.001) and more frequent use of facial care products: cleanser (p<0.001); moisturiser (p = 0.016) or night cream (p = 0.016). Overall, 36.5% of the variation in the difference between perceived and chronological age could be explained by a combination of chronological age and 6 independent lifestyle variables. We have thus identified and quantified a number of factors associated with younger appearance in Chinese women. Presentation of these factors in the context of facial appearance could provide significant motivation for the adoption of a range of healthy behaviours at the level of both individuals and populations

Does the oxytocin receptor polymorphism (rs2254298) confer 'vulnerability' for psychopathology or 'differential susceptibility'? insights from evolution

    Get PDF
The diathesis-stress model of psychiatric conditions has recently been challenged by the view that it might be more accurate to speak of 'differential susceptibility' or 'plasticity' genes, rather than one-sidedly focusing on individual vulnerability. That is, the same allelic variation that predisposes to a psychiatric disorder if associated with (developmentally early) environmental adversity may lead to a better-than-average functional outcome in the same domain under thriving (or favourable) environmental conditions. Studies of polymorphic variations of the serotonin transporter gene, the monoamino-oxidase-inhibitor A coding gene or the dopamine D4 receptor gene indicate that the early environment plays a crucial role in the development of favourable versus unfavourable outcomes. Current evidence is limited, however, to establishing a link between genetic variation and behavioural phenotypes. In contrast, little is known about how plasticity may be expressed at the neuroanatomical level as a 'hard-wired' correlate of observable behaviour. The present review article seeks to further strengthen the argument in favour of the differential susceptibility theory by incorporating findings from behavioural and neuroanatomical studies in relation to genetic variation of the oxytocin receptor gene. It is suggested that polymorphic variation at the oxytocin receptor gene (rs2254298) is associated with sociability, amygdala volume and differential risk for psychiatric conditions including autism, depression and anxiety disorder, depending on the quality of early environmental experiences. Seeing genetic variation at the core of developmental plasticity can explain, in contrast to the diathesis-stress perspective, why evolution by natural selection has maintained such 'risk' alleles in the gene pool of a population

Nudibranchia are mollusks without a shell. They are simultaneous hermaphrodites and are carnivores while some of them are cannibals. Nudibranchia are frequent occupants and foraging on coral reefs. The study was conducted at two locations, namely Waleo Village Waters representing the waters of Mollucas and Sulawesi Sea was represented by Kalasey Village. The difference in the location of the two waters is expected to affect the existence of community structures. The present study includes diversity, richness, evenness, dominance and similarity. A line transect was used to collect data. We found 84 individuals from both study sites representing 8 species of Nudibranchia, which fall into 4 genera and 3 families namely, Pteraeolididae, Phyllidiidae, and Chromodorididae. The most common family was the Phyllidiidae. The similarity value at both locations was 54.5%© Penelitian tentang struktur komunitas gastropoda nudibranchia telah dilakukan di dua lokasi yaitu Desa Waleo (Laut Maluku) dan Desa Kalasey (Laut Sulawesi).

Skin aging caused by oxidative stress that leads to the formation of wrinkles, pigmentation, and asteatosis. On the other hand, the elastase enzyme also can influence the elasticity of the skin that leads to sagging. Moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera Lamk) has been reported contain some active compounds like flavonoid that has antioxidant and anti-aging potential. This study was presented to determine the potential of moringa leaves extract (MLE) in scavenging DPPH radicals and inhibiting the elastase enzyme. MLE was obtained by using maceration methods. The potential of MLE in scavenging DPPH radicals and inhibiting elastase enzyme was determined using spectrophotometric methods. MLE has IC50 value of DPPH scavenging activity also elastase inhibitory activity at 109.67 + 0.83 µg/mL and 159.67 + 7.95 µg/mL. MLE has antioxidant and anti-aging potential as indicated by DPPH scavenging activity and elastase inhibitory. However, MLE has moderate DPPH scavenging activity and low elastase inhibitory activity
