Nonabelian Gauge Theories on Noncommutative Spaces

    Get PDF
In this paper, we describe a method for obtaining the nonabelian Seiberg-Witten map for any gauge group and to any order in theta. The equations defining the Seiberg-Witten map are expressed using a coboundary operator, so that they can be solved by constructing a corresponding homotopy operator. The ambiguities, of both the gauge and covariant type, which arise in this map are manifest in our formalism.Comment: 14 pages, latex, Talk presented at 2001: A Spacetime Odyssey - Michigan Center for Theoretical Physics, some typos correcte

Bethe Ansatz solution of a new class of Hubbard-type models

    Get PDF
We define one-dimensional particles with generalized exchange statistics. The exact solution of a Hubbard-type Hamiltonian constructed with such particles is achieved using the Coordinate Bethe Ansatz. The chosen deformation of the statistics is equivalent to the presence of a magnetic field produced by the particles themselves, which is present also in a ``free gas'' of these particles.Comment: 4 pages, revtex. Unbraiding the braided tensor product

We show that the braided tensor product algebra A1⊗‾A2A_1\underline{\otimes}A_2 of two module algebras A1,A2A_1, A_2 of a quasitriangular Hopf algebra HH is equal to the ordinary tensor product algebra of A1A_1 with a subalgebra of A1⊗‾A2A_1\underline{\otimes}A_2 isomorphic to A2A_2, provided there exists a realization of HH within A1A_1. In other words, under this assumption we construct a transformation of generators which `decouples' A1,A2A_1, A_2 (i.e. makes them commuting). We apply the theorem to the braided tensor product algebras of two or more quantum group covariant quantum spaces, deformed Heisenberg algebras and q-deformed fuzzy spheres.Comment: LaTex file, 29 page

On Quantum Groups in the Hubbard Model with Phonons

The correct Hamiltonian for an extended Hubbard model with quantum group symmetry as introduced by A. Montorsi and M. Rasetti is derived for a D-dimensional lattice. It is shown that the superconducting SUq(2) holds as a true quantum symmetry only for D = 1 and that terms of higher order in the fermionic operators in addition to phonons are required for a quantum symmetric hamiltonian. The condition for quantum symmetry is "half filling" and there is no local electron-phonon coupling. A discussion of Quantum symmetries in general is given in a formalism that should be readily accessible to non Hopf-algebraists.Comment: latex, 17 page

Non-commutative Euclidean structures in compact spaces

    Get PDF
Based on results for real deformation parameter q we introduce a compact non- commutative structure covariant under the quantum group SOq(3) for q being a root of unity. To match the algebra of the q-deformed operators with necesarry conjugation properties it is helpful to define a module over the algebra genera- ted by the powers of q. In a representation where X is diagonal we show how P can be calculated. To manifest some typical properties an example of a one-di- mensional q-deformed Heisenberg algebra is also considered and compared with non-compact case.Comment: Changed conten

Non-commutative gauge theory on D-branes in Melvin Universes

Non-commutative gauge theory with a non-constant non-commutativity parameter can be formulated as a decoupling limit of open strings ending on D3-branes wrapping a Melvin universe. We construct the action explicitly and discuss various physical features of this theory. The decoupled field theory is not supersymmetric. Nonetheless, the Coulomb branch appears to remain flat at least in the large N and large 't Hooft coupling limit. We also find the analogue of Prasad-Sommerfield monopoles whose size scales with the non-commutativity parameter and is therefore position dependent.Comment: 15 pages, 1 figure, reference adde

    Electrocortical therapy for motion sickness

    Get PDF
Given a sufficiently provocative stimulus, almost everyone can be made motion sick, with approximately one-third experiencing significant symptoms on long bus trips, on ships, or in light aircraft.1–4 Current countermeasures are either behavioral or pharmacologic. Behavioral measures include habituation/desensitization treatment protocols5 as well as positioning the head in alignment with the direction of the gravito-inertial force and maintaining a stable horizontal reference frame.5 Pharmacologic measures include antimuscarinics, H1 antihistamines, and sympathomimetics, which all detrimentally impact upon cognitive function, rendering them inappropriate for occupational use.5 All current therapies are only partially effective

Z3_3-graded differential geometry of quantum plane

In this work, the Z3_3-graded differential geometry of the quantum plane is constructed. The corresponding quantum Lie algebra and its Hopf algebra structure are obtained. The dual algebra, i.e. universal enveloping algebra of the quantum plane is explicitly constructed and an isomorphism between the quantum Lie algebra and the dual algebra is given.Comment: 17 page
