Ranking fuzzy numbers by volume of solid of revolution of membership function about axis of support

It is admissible that fuzzy numbers (FNs) are apt for representing imprecise or vague data in real-world problems. While using FNs in decision-making problems, selecting the best alternative among available alternatives is challenging, and therefore, ranking FNs is essential. We can find different studies in the literature, but to our knowledge, no one attempted to rank FNs using the concept of volume. This paper proposes a new method for ranking generalized fuzzy numbers (GFNs) using the volume of the solid obtained by revolving its membership function (MF) about the x-axis. We calculate the volumes of positive and negative sides along with the centroid of a generalized fuzzy number(GFN) to define the fuzzy number(FN) score. This score represents the defuzzified value of FN, is used to select the best alternative, and overcomes the limitations in some existing methods like ranking FNs having the same centroid, crisp numbers, symmetric fuzzy numbers, and FNs with the same core

Effect of EBG on Radiation Energy of Monopole antenna at different places

ABSTRACT: The EBG structures were used for surprising the surface wave propagations in the antenna as we know the EBG'S used to enhance parameters of monopole antenna in the earlier research. In this paper we analyse the effect when the distance between the EBG and antenna are altered in this first the EBG placed at the end of the ground and second the EBG placed out the ground and them the EBG placed inside the ground all this are analysed and the changes in parameter were illustrated in this paper. This paper mainly concentrated a radiation distribution of antenna. So that we can understand the effect of EBG placement on the antenna

Glass Transition Behavior of Polymer Films of Nanoscopic Dimensions

Glass transition behavior of nanoscopically thin polymer films is investigated by means of molecular dynamics simulations. A thin polymer film that is composed of bead-spring model chains and supported on an idealized, fcc lattice substrate surface is studied in this work.Comment: in review, macromolecule

Ranking Fuzzy Numbers with a Distance Method using Circumcenter of Centroids and an Index of Modality

Ranking fuzzy numbers are an important aspect of decision making in a fuzzy environment. Since their inception in 1965, many authors have proposed different methods for ranking fuzzy numbers. However, there is no method which gives a satisfactory result to all situations. Most of the methods proposed so far are nondiscriminating and counterintuitive. This paper proposes a new method for ranking fuzzy numbers based on the Circumcenter of Centroids and uses an index of optimism to reflect the decision maker's optimistic attitude and also an index of modality that represents the neutrality of the decision maker. This method ranks various types of fuzzy numbers which include normal, generalized trapezoidal, and triangular fuzzy numbers along with crisp numbers with the particularity that crisp numbers are to be considered particular cases of fuzzy numbers

A biphasic nanohydroxyapatite/calcium sulphate carrier containing Rifampicin and Isoniazid for local delivery gives sustained and effective antibiotic release and prevents biofilm formation

Long term multiple systemic antibiotics form the cornerstone in the treatment of bone and joint tuberculosis, often combined with local surgical eradication. Implanted carriers for local drug delivery have recently been introduced to overcome some of the limitations associated with conventional treatment strategies. In this study, we used a calcium sulphate hemihydrate (CSH)/nanohydroxyapatite (nHAP) based nanocement (NC) biomaterial as a void filler as well as a local delivery carrier of two standard of care tuberculosis drugs, Rifampicin (RFP) and Isoniazid (INH). We observed that the antibiotics showed different release patterns where INH showed a burst release of 67% and 100% release alone and in combination within one week, respectively whereas RFP showed sustained release of 42% and 49% release alone and in combination over a period of 12 weeks, respectively indicating different possible interactions of antibiotics with nHAP. The interactions were studied using computational methodology, which showed that the binding energy of nHAP with RFP was 148 kcal/mol and INH was 11 kcal/mol, thus varying substantially resulting in RFP being retained in the nHAP matrix. Our findings suggest that a biphasic ceramic based drug delivery system could be a promising treatment alternative to bone and joint TB

Electrostatic ion beam trap for electron collision studies

    No full text
We describe a system combining an ion beam trap and a low energy electron target in which the interaction between electrons and vibrationally cold molecular ions and clusters can be studied. The entire system uses only electrostatic fields for both trapping and focusing, thus being able to store particles without a mass limit. Preliminary results for the electron impact neutralization of C ions and aluminum clusters are presented
