PET ANIMALS' BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS: A REVIEW

    Get PDF
Nowadays, socializing of humans with pet animals has increased. The pet animals are treated as a part of the family and the physical interaction hasalso improved owing to the fact that the infected animals are not easily identifiable at an early stage and children are more prone to get infected. Thisleads to the necessity for monitoring and analyzing the behavior of the pet animals. The current trend is moving toward smart homes as the camerasare getting cheaper and easily available. The vision-based approach is one of the solutions to identify the behavioral changes of the pet animals. In thispaper, the study on behavioral analysis of dogs and cats as pet animals is reviewed.Â

Does prophylactic tranexamic acid reduce blood loss in Indian women following vaginal delivery?

Background: Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) accounts for 25% to 33% of obstetric deaths every year. Anemia is a cause and consequence of PPH. Despite intense efforts to prevent anemia, many Indian women labour with low hemoglobin levels. Tranexamic acid (TXA), an antifibrinolytic, have been demonstrated to reduce blood loss and transfusion requirements in various surgeries including cesarean section. Objectives were to study the efficacy of TXA in effectively reducing blood loss in Indian women following vaginal delivery. Methods: This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study was conducted on 200 patients scheduled for vaginal delivery. In addition to oxytocin 10 units, group T received TXA 15 mg/kg and group P received normal saline administered over 5 minutes. Estimated blood loss, Hemoglobin deficit, need for additional uterotonics, need for blood transfusion, incidence of PPH and adverse events were noted. Results: The fall in hemoglobin was significantly higher in group P (p<0.00001). Estimated 24 hour blood loss was significantly higher by a mean blood volume of 86.99 ml in group P compared to group T (p<0.00001). The incidence of PPH was lower in group T (2.8% versus 11.3%). There were no significant difference in the need for supplementary uterotonics (9.9% versus 15.5%) and the incidence of blood transfusion (2.8% versus 8.5%). No adverse maternal and fetal outcomes were noted. Conclusions: To reduce blood loss following vaginal delivery, TXA may be safely recommended as standard adjunct to Oxytocin for regular management of third stage of labour, especially in developing countries like India

A rare case of caesarean scar ectopic pregnancy: a case report

    Get PDF
Scar ectopic pregnancy is a condition where the gestational sac implants into the previous caesarean scar site. Although it is a rare entity, its incidence is increasing due to rising rates of caesarean deliveries. Here authors report a case of caesarean scar ectopic pregnancy managed by laparotomy with caesarean scar ectopic excision following failed medical management. The patient recovered without any intraoperative or postoperative complications. An early diagnosis and management are vital in preventing maternal morbidity and mortality

Passagierdampfer als Hilfskreuzer: kurze Geschichte der Entwicklung einer Schiffsgattung

To date there is no cohesive historical account of the international development of the auxiliary cruiser, and the scattered investigations of various single aspects of this ship category do not add up to a comprehensive survey. These were the circumstances discovered by the author as, upon request of the editor of this publication, he undertook to provide an introduction to the report by Captain Meyer of the only voyage of the "Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse" as an auxiliary cruiser (see the following article). The first task was thus to gain an overall impression of this history. "Auxiliary cruisers", as defined here, were passenger steamships kept ready for battle by large shipping companies in countries with significant naval power. These ships were technically equipped for the installation of weapons, and their conversion could be carried out within a few days. The auxiliary cruiser was first to put into service by the Russians, who felt threatened by the British Royal Navy after the Russian-Turkish Balkan War. At that time a newly established shipping company, later called the "Russian Voluntary Fleet", bought three steamships from the Hamburg-America Line and had them converted for combat purposes. By the turn of the century, this originally Russian idea had been adopted by all of the world's Iarge navies . This brief study also touches on the various attempt worldwide to incorporate the legal status of the ship type "auxiliary cruiser" into international public and military law. Because of geopolitically based conflicts of interest between the naval powers, these endeavours were only partially successful. ln conclusion the author examines the auxiliary cruiser concept of the Imperial German Navy, whose goal it was to interfere with and impair the enemy's overseas commerce. The express Iiners originally designated for this purpose, however, were for various reasons inconceivably ill-suited to it. As early as 1915 the German Navy proceeded to commission cargo vessels as auxiliary cruisers, as they were inconspicuous and easier to supply. This was then the mode of operation employed by the navy during World War II

On finite-time stability of nonlinear fractional-order systems with impulses and multi-state time delays

    No full text
This work concentrates on the finite-time stability (FTS) analysis of fractional-order systems (FOS) with impulsive effects and multi-state time delays. The condition which give assurance for FTS of nonlinear FOS having impulsive behavior and multi-state time delay are derived by utilizing the generalization of Gronwall’s inequality (GI). At last, two numerical examples are given which provide the accuracy of the given result

The Siddha system of medicine is an ancient medical system, which provides ‘Holistic Health’. The word ‘Siddha’ originated from the  word ‘Siddhi’ meaning achievement of perfection, eternal bliss and accomplishment. The Siddha system evolved based on ninety-six tools (96 Thattuvam) which include physical, physiological, psychological and intellectual aspects of every human being. Among the 96 tools, the five elements i.e. Pancha bootham namely Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space are the fundamental units of everything in the human body and the cosmos. There are three vital life factors (Vaatham, Pittam, Kabham) responsible for good health. There is a relationship between these to maintain the body’s healthy. Any increase or decrease in humour causes diseases. Thirthoda sama porutkal (TSP) maintains these humour when we are using our regular diet. This article details the TSP to maintain the body healthy.&nbsp
