Student Expectation and Perception on Service Quality: Gap Analysis Model

    Get PDF
In the competitive market, it is crucial to stand as the market leaders maintaining the current customers offering the satisfying service quality and creating impacts to attract the potential. Hence, this research identifies the gaps between the customer expectation and perception on the academic service quality of an English Department in Yangon, Myanmar through the five dimensions SERVQUAL model. Deductive approach and exploratory research design are applied in the research. The study uses proportional sampling where a definite number of populations is known and the respondents are selected randomly from every batch. Through mixed method, quantitative and qualitative data are collected from 66 respondents attending English Language Programme. The results reveal that there are significant gaps between the customer expectation and perception, and the customers’ expectation level is higher than the perceived service quality. The qualitative data analysis is not merely provided in the research; therefore, it seems weak to identify the detailed opinions of the respondents’ views on the research factors. The customers’ perception and suggestions should be prioritised for the betterment of developmental progress of the academic service quality. The research indicates the prominence of the customer loyalty to maintain the customer satisfaction in the organisation

Influencing Factors on the Selection of Language Learning Centres: Empirical Evidence from Myanmar

    Get PDF
This study aimed to analyse the factors considered by the learners in choosing a language learning centre in Myanmar as an overview of the competitive advantage in the rapidly transforming cutthroat and globalised market competition. Deductive approach was applied as the base of conducting the study with exploratory research design using survey questionnaire in which the related quantitative and qualitative questions distributed to 108 students. The qualitative and quantitative data interpreted revealed two prominent factors, TV advertising and financial factor, have no impact on the students’ selection decision. However, the other three factors, social media advertising, academic quality, and social influence, have significant impact on the students’ decision of selecting a language institute. The competitive advantages based on the user experience have been identified as well. Because the research area is limited to only five influential factors, the number of variables can merely cover the narrow scope of the research area to foreground the whole resemblance of the students’ selection behaviour and attitude. However, the results imply that competitive advantage in the highly competitive market requires strategic formulation of marketing strategies

Apoptosis: Dual role in aetiology and cure

    Get PDF
Apoptosis is a programmed cell death which occurs following a variety of stimuli. Physiologically the process is important for morphogenesis of organs and homeostasis of different types of cells. Apoptotic cell death is responsible for a variety of pathologic states such as elimination of cell death in mutated cells, infected cells, tumour cells and transplant rejection well as the pathological atrophy. In this review, there is discussion about the control of apoptosis, detection methods of apoptosis, its association with infectious and non-communicable diseases. Intracellular microorganisms survive through inhibition of host cell apoptosis as well as they destroy the parenchymal cells causing impaired functions. It plays important role in tumourigenesis. There are possible therapeutic roles of drugs that modify apoptosis in human diseases

Weight-based Word Sense Disambiguation Method for Myanmar-to-English Language Translation

    Get PDF
In many natural language processing (NLP) techniques, machine translation is a popular and useful technique. Machine translation technique is a translation process from one to another language. This technique is thus very useful for people around the world. While translating the languages, ambiguity is a big challenge because many words have several meanings. Ambiguous words have damaging effects on the precision of machine translation. To solve this problem, word sense disambiguation (WSD) method is useful for automatically identifying the correct meaning of an ambiguous word. In order to have a better precision, weight-based WSD method is proposed by taking advantage of a Minkowski distance method. As the proposed method considers the weight values of each sense of training and input vectors while observing the ambiguous words, it is more effective than the simple translation system. Experimental results show that the weight-based WSD method gives a better precision approximately 51% when compared to the simple machine translation method

Development of Better Time and Cost Plan by Integrating Information in a Construction Project

    Get PDF
Commonly, there are no compactible and integrated models among architecture, structure and mechanical and electrical engineering yet before actual construction starts. As a consequence, many problems such as time and cost overruns, quality improvement, etc occur in almost every project. This study aims to reduce problems in construction mentioned by the aid of advanced technique BIM (Building Information Modelling). As a case study, commercial building construction in Mandalay is selected. Firstly, time and resource scheduling and cost estimations are done by using collected datas based on individual drawings from different designers such as architects, structure and M&E engineers. As a result, estimated construction time is about seven years and total construction cost is 58571 lakhs. As an alternative way, firstly, clashes due to inconsistencies among architectural, structural and M&E drawings are checked by using Revit software. Then, the coordination is done by using interference check. At the end of the check, the coordinated structure (structure with elements at right positions) is obtained and depicted in accordance with phases of construction. Then, time and resource scheduling are done by using Microsoft Project software based on the construction phases. As a result of Microsoft Project software, the estimated time is five years and construction cost is 54325 lakhs. So, estimated time and cost by applying BIM technique are 30% and 10% less than usual estimation respectively. This paper concludes that time and cost control can be best done with the aid of BIM technique

Immune System in COVID-19: Is It Temporarily Defeated While Conquering?

    Get PDF
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection is spreading worldwide and becomes a major cause of mortality. In addition to major pathology in lungs such as pneumonia or respiratory failure, multiorgan failure and frequently haematological disorders such as thromboembolic manifestations are leading causes of mortality. This study reviews the interaction of the immune system with target cells, the role of cytokines and other components such as complements encountered in the pathophysiology of major disease processes and possible post-recovery complications. Although there are some clinical effects induced by strong immune reactions, long term immunity against the virus is found in the majority

Escape from Original Home: Do Metastatic Cells Stay Dormant or Destructive?

    Get PDF
Metastasis is defined as tumour implants discontinuous with the primary tumour. It is responsible for most cancer-related mortality. Many factors relating to the tumour and host factors are involved in the presence of metastasis and the long-term prognosis of the disease process. This study observed available literature and aims to emphasise tumours and their interaction with the tumour microenvironment. Epigenetic and genetic influences on pathogenesis, tumour and microenvironment interaction, role of epithelial-mesenchymal transition in metastasis are essential determinants of advanced malignant diseases. Early detection of metastatic disease is an essential part. The histopathological aggressiveness of a tumour and its biological behaviour determine the probability of metastasis and advanced disease. Understanding these factors has a benefit to improving the current therapies and diagnostic approaches to an advanced level, leading to the prevention of metastasis and more successful management of patients

The Complex Energy Method Applied to the Nd Scattering with a Model Three-Body Force

Using the complex energy method, the problem of nucleon-deuteron scattering is solved with a simple three-body force having a separable form. Our results are compared with the results of modern direct two-variable calculations and a good agreement is found. This forms a firm base for other applications of the complex energy method.Comment: 6pages, 3figure
