ABSTRACT -The influence of different levels of expanded perlite on the performance and egg quality traits was studied in laying hens. Forty Lohmann Brown females at 30 weeks of age were randomly assigned to four groups consisting of five replicates with two hens in each. Four diet groups were supplemented with 0% (control group), 1%, 2%, and 3% perlite, respectively. Feed and water were provided ad libitum. There were no significant differences in final body weight, feed intake, egg yield, and egg weight. Feed conversion ratio and egg weight decreased with addition of 2% perlite. Dietary perlite supplementation has no significant effects on shape, yolk, and albumen index. Haugh unit was affected significantly by addition of 2% perlite. Fecal pH, dry matter, and NH 3 -N did not significantly differ among treatments. Dietary perlite has no negative effect on performance and egg quality traits except 2% perlite group. Dietary expanded perlite can be added at 1% level in laying hen rations without changing the animal performance. Key Words: egg, performance, perlite, poultry Revista Brasileira de Zootecni

Sonuç: Enfeksiyon gelişiminde risk faktörleri uzerine çalışmaların her hastanede enfeksiyon etkenleri ve antibiyotik duyarlılık paternlerini araştıran çalışmalarla birlikte yapılması uygun, hastaneye özgü enfeksiyon kontrol önlemlerinin alınmasını sağlayacaktır

WOS: 000385271000026Bullet injuries to the thorax are observed frequently. When the radiographic location of the bullet does not correlate with the expected trajectory, a possible bullet embolism should be considered. In this article, we present a 39-year-old male patient who suffered a gunshot to his back. Patient's hemopneumothorax was treated with tube thoracostomy; however, the bullet was found to have migrated to the retroperitoneum without an overt mediastinal, diaphragmatic, or abdominal visceral organ injury. Angiography demonstrated no vascular embolism. The exact mechanism for the bullet to reach to the retroperitoneum was unknown, but a possible presence of a Bochdalek's triangle was suspected

Purpose: Cardiovascular disease is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with renal failure. Patients with chronic renal failure are significantly susceptible to atherosclerosis. Our aim is to investigate the effect of isoflavone upon atherosclerosis and inflammation in continuos ambulatory peritoneal dialysis patients. Material and Methods: Fifty eight patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis were enrolled in the study. The Patients have been separated into two groups. The first group with a plasebo, the second group with 40 mg soy isoflavones (Isoflavin and reg;, Mikro-Gen) 2 times per day was given to patients during 12 weeks. Two of them because of gastrointestinal side effects leaved the study and the study was completed with 56 patients. Before and after the treatment of isoflavone total cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, hs-CRP, homocysteine, intima-media thickness, arterial stiffness values were measured and statistical analyses was made. Results: The levels of intima-media thickness, arterial stiffness and one of the inflammation marker hs-CRP was statistically lower after the treatment with isoflavones than the beginning of treatment. Conclusion: Finally; it can be supplied useful effects on inflammatory and atherosclerotic process by using of isoflavones which has antilipogenic, antihypertensive and improving vascular health properties in end stage renal disease. Introduction: Chronic post-traumatic arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is a late complication of vascular injury and can be presented with symptoms of congestive heart failure, venous hypertension and distal ischaemia. We present an unusual case of chronic leg swelling in adult caused by post-traumatic AVF. Case presentation: A 52 year old white-male patient complained of palpitation, pain and swollen right leg. Arterial pulses distally from the groin were present. His medical history revealed him to have sustained gunshot injury of the left thigh 5 years before. Angiography showed a large AVF between superficial femoral artery and femoral vein. The patient underwent surgical repair of AVF with ligation of AVF between superficial femoral artery under spinal anaesthesia. Completion angiography confirmed AVF exclusion. Leg swelling healed within a month. Conclusion: Post-traumatic fistula should be obliterated as soon as possible. Untreated fistula results in complications including renin-mediated hypertension and high-output heart failure, venous and/or arterial insufficiency. WOS: 000462046300006Introduction: Preoperative anxiety is a common problem before anesthesia. Pharmacologic agents or non-pharmacologic methods are widely used to reduce preoperative anxiety. The aim of our study was to investigate the effect of aromatherapy with rose oil on preoperative anxiety. Methods: This study was a prospective, randomized, controlled trial. The patients (n = 99) were randomized as the control group (group C), the sham group (group S) and the rose oil group (group R). The State-Trait Anxiety Inventory-State Questionnaire of Spielberger (STAI-S) was used to determine anxiety levels. The first STAI-S (Q_1) was administered in the otorhinolaryngology clinic in the morning on the day of the operation. Group C received no intervention. In group S, a mixture (distilled water/ethyl alcohol) and in group R, a mixture (distilled water/ethyl alcohol/0.2 mL rose oil (Rosa damascena Mill.)) was used with the ultrasonic aroma diffuser. Aromatherapy was applied by an ultrasonic nebulizer for 15 min before patients went to the operating room for surgery in group S and group R.In the operating room, the second STAI-S (Q_2) were recorded. Results: There was no statistical significant difference between the groups at baseline in terms of Q_1 scores, but when the second STAI-S was administered after the intervention, there was a significant difference in Q_2 scores (43.15 +/- 7.55, 36.03 +/- 9.60, respectively, 95% CI, 38.39-43.12, P = .004) between group C and R. Conclusions: The application of rose oil aromatherapy by inhalation reduced the scores of preoperative anxiety of patients undergoing septorhinoplasty/rhinoplasty

This research examines the knowledge of managers about technology leadership, metaverse and artificial intelligence and will determine to what extent managers can adapt to the new age. This study evaluates the digital skills, awareness of digital transformation and effective use of digital tools by school administrators with the increasing use of digital technologies in the education of teachers and students. In order to obtain all these data, open-ended questions were asked to the school administrators. The study group of this research, which was conducted with a qualitative study, consists of school principals and assistant principals working in primary schools in Northern Cyprus in the 2022-2023 academic year. The working group consists of 18 participants. The results of the research show that school administrators play an important role in developing their digital skills and successfully managing digital transformation. When the ideas are examined in general, it is argued that the main goal of adapting to the modern age is to bring all the necessary technological tools to the school, to inform the teachers about artificial intelligence and metaverse before students, and to develop their skills in using technological devices. School administrators also stated that if they have their own inadequacies before teachers, it is necessary to improve themselves in these areas, which will benefit the school and students in digital transformation. Artificial intelligence and metaverse technologies would cost schools very high and that the schools would not be able to cover the costs of these technologies.
