    Nurses' Roles towards Patient undergoing Cardiac Catheterization at Al- Najaf Governorate: Patient Perspective

    The study objectives to evaluate nurses’ roles toward patient undergoing cardiac catheterization and to find out the relationship between the patient perspective and demographic data (age, gender, level of education, social status, occupation, economic status, and residence). a descriptive cross-sectional design (patient perspective) was carried out through the present study in order to achieve the early stated objectives for period January 4th 2017 to August  6th 2017. The study conducted at AL-Najaf cardiac center, A convenient sample of (100) patients undergoing to cardiac catheterization patients that admitted to cardiac catheterization unites. The data were collected through the use of questionnaire, which consists of two parts, socio-demographic data, and question related to nurses' roles toward patient undergoing cardiac catheterization. The data were described statistically and analyzed though use of the descriptive and inferential statistical analysis procedures. The results of present study indicate that the nurses' roles toward patient undergoing cardiac catheterization was good more than 89% of patient agree with this role. The study confirms that the nurses have a good practice toward patient undergoing cardiac catheterization according to patient perspective. Nurses, who working in cardiac center, should be hired with certain qualification, which are related to the performance of such high quality practices. Special training programs should be designed and constructed for nurses in this area to reinforce their skills and promote their experience. The standards for such practices bill should be created and presented to all ties in which such practices are performed

    Behaviour of single-crystal nickel alloy in the conditions of high-temperature hydrogen corrosion

    This study presents the results of the investigation of the behaviour of ZhS32-VI single-crystal nickel alloy in hydrogen environment or argon atmosphere at 850°C. The microstructure and chemical composition of corrosion deposits were studied by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray energy-dispersive analysis. It has been established that in argon containing an admixture of oxygen a dense scale rich in cobalt and nickel oxides is formed. At atmosphere containing 65% hydrogen and 35% argon an increased content of aluminum in the surface composition was noted. The influence of 100% hydrogen leads to segregation of tungsten and rhenium with the formation of convex growths. The data of simultaneous thermal analysis revealed that the amount of desorbed hydrogen can be from 0.08 to 0.14%

    A Novel Control Scheme for Multi-Terminal Low-Frequency AC Electrical Energy Transmission Systems Using Modular Multilevel Matrix Converters and Virtual Synchronous Generator Concept

    This paper proposes a new control scheme for the low frequency AC transmission (LFAC) system aiming at extending the point-to-point configuration to form a multi-terminal electrical energy network. The multi-terminal low frequency ac (MT-LFAC) system configuration is based on the use of modular multilevel matrix converters (M3Cs) and virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control. The M3C is the next ac/ac converter generation, which is used as an interface with the conventional AC network and the LFAC electrical energy system. Application of VSG control is proposed to enable proper power sharing, to provide synchronization of each terminal, and frequency stabilization, thus, to offer multiterminal forming capability. Two different operation modes are applied in the system to damp the frequency deviation after a dynamic perturbation, which provides additional stabilization feature to the VSG. Frequency restoration mode and commanded mode of power sharing are applied as dynamic states to validate the robustness of the VSG control system. Besides, to solve the negative impact of low X/R ratio in the LFAC electrical energy system, we enhance the VSG control by proposing a virtual-impedance-based solution, which increases the output total impedance on the low frequency side and prevents the coupling between P and Q. The operation of the proposed system is examined by simulation results with a precise model of M3Cs in the PSCAD/ EMTDC software environment (version 4.2.1, Winnipeg, MB, Canada)

    Molecular and immunohistochemical study of APC exon 16 and its possible role in colorectal carcinoma development

    Background: Colorectal cancer ranks second as a cause of cancer deaths. Mutations in the adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) gene, especially in exon 16, could contribute to colorectal carcinoma development. This study explored the correlations between APC gene exon 16 variations/expression and colorectal carcinoma progression. Methods: In a case-control study, blood samples from 150 colorectal carcinoma patients and 50 healthy volunteers were analyzed by PCR and sequencing for APC exon 16 variations. The APC protein expression on tissue samples was evaluated by immunohistochemistry and statistical analyses were used to examine clinicopathological correlations. Results: The sequencing analysis revealed a mutation in exon 16 of the APC gene (rs459552) in 36 % of colorectal cancer cases while absent in all non-cancer controls. Subgroup analysis by tumor grade showed higher prevalence of mutant allele in Grade II and Grade III cases, with frequencies reaching 60.0 % and 69.2 %, respectively, compared to a substantially lower prevalence of 29.4 % in Grade I patients. Immunohistochemistry showed no significant correlation between this mutation and APC expression. APC positivity proportions were 25.5 % in Grade I tumors (n = 26/102) versus 17.1 % in Grade II (n = 6/35) and 46.2 % in Grade III (n = 6/13), showing a non-significant trend of reduced positivity in higher grade tumors (p>0.05). Conclusions: The frequency of APC exon 16 mutation (rs459552) rose significantly with increasing tumor grade. Similarly, although not statistically significant, the percentage of APC positive staining increased with poorer tumor differentiation, rather than declining. Therefore, the APC exon 16 mutation and expression analysis provides insights into colorectal cancer progression, with the rs459552 mutation correlating with grade and may promoting aggression

Rechargeable batteries have widely been served and developed continuously in electronic devices as a means of storing electrical energy. Therefore, increasing the capacity and life of batteries has become a target for researchers working in this field. Enlargement of application and performance windows of batteries have become possible by the era of nanotechnology, such that new generations of rechargeable batteries enjoy from much higher efficiency and performance with respect to first-generation ones. In this article, after examining the electrochemical preparations, batteries and their types are discussed.
