    EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL SYSTEM BASED ON RANKING AND REVIEWS

    Objective: In many organizations, employee data have to be maintained and utilized for many purposes. Here, in this paper, we are going to use such data to calculate an employee's performance.Methods: This employee data may be converted into useful information using data mining techniques such as K-means and decisions tree. K-means is used to find the rank of the employee means that the employee may come under in his criteria. Decision tree is used to find the review of an employee means that the employee needs improvement or he/she meets expectation.Results: This algorithm when utilized can identify the top employee who can be considered for appraisal or the eligible candidates for promotion. Hence, these algorithms such as K-mean and decision tree that help to find best employees for any association and help us to take a good decision in less time.Conclusion: There are various factors which should be considered and are limited to this algorithm, so human intervention is required to consider those factors. However, ranking and appraisal are seen in many companies, and this algorithm will definitely identify the potential candidates

    Sexual Selection and Sex Ratios in Anolis Lizards

    Biased sex ratios, or unequal numbers of males and females in a population, can alter the intensity of sexual selection by enhancing competition for mates, and thus may affect the evolution of reproductive strategies. Studies of sex ratio variation across a clade provide an opportunity to examine the morphological or behavioral consequences of different levels of sexual selection. We examined sex ratio variation, using phylogenetic comparative methods, across a diverse clade of terrestrial vertebrates, the Anolis lizards. Across a sample of 14 species in 21 localities, we found remarkable bidirectional variation in sex ratios across the Anolis clade: males are more common in some populations and females in others. However, we find no evidence that sex ratio bias is associated with sexual size dimorphism, a proxy for sexual selection. Nor do we find an association of sex ratio bias with ecological niches (i.e. ecomorphs), which vary in sexual selection pressures and mating systems. The observed inter-specific variation in sex ratio suggests that a balance of different, possibly opposing, factors, including sex-specific dispersal and mortality rates, may play a role in determining population sex ratio

    On the presence of sulphate in pituitary lutropin

    The presence of sulphate in the carbohydrate of pituitary lutropin from different species has been investigated using a biosynthetic approach. Pituitaries from rats, rabbits, goats, and buffaloes were incubated in the presence of 35SO4- and the 35SO4--labelled proteins in the tissue immunoprecipitated with a well characterized anti-sheep lutropin serum. The incorporation into immunoreactive lutropin was low in the case of rat, rabbit and goat pituitaries while, it was considerable in the case of buffalo pituitaries. Hence further characterization studies were carried out on 35SO4--labelled proteins of buffaloes. The physico-chemical, immunological and biological properties of radio-labelled buffalo pituitary material were shown to be similar to those of standard lutropin. Inin vitro conditions of incubations, most of the incorporation of 35SO4- was observed into tissue lutropin while under similar conditions of incubation, [14C]-amino acids were found to get incorporated mostly into medium lutropin. The physiologically specific releasing hormone, lutropin-releasing hormone was found to stimulate the release of 35SO4--labelled lutropin from the rabbit pituitaries into the medium. These results give indirect evidence that sulphate could be present in pituitary lutropin

    CLINICAL EFFICACY OF VALUKA SWEDA WITH AMLAKANJI IN VATAKANTAKA: A CASE STUDY

    Vatakantaka is a disease explained by Sushruta in the context of Vatavyadhi as a painful condition of heel caused by its improper placement of foot on the ground. Pain beneath the heel is seen in infra calcaneum bursitis and plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is a common cause for pain in the heel region, which occurs in about 10% of the general population and represents 10 to15% of foot problems requiring professional care. Women are twice as likely as men to get plantar fasciitis. Vatakantaka is very common condition that affects normal routine work. A case with chronic Vatakantaka managed successfully by Valukasweda with Amlakanji is reported here. A 57 year old female complaining of pain in the right heel and other associated symptoms, with the X-ray of the right ankle joint report showing heel spurs was treated with Sthanikaabhyanga using Pindataila followed by Valukasweda with Amlakanji for eight days showed significant results in the subjective parameters and also marked reduction was noted in the size of the heel spur in X-rays taken before and after treatment. It is the need of hour to focus such practises which yields good results and are not much expensive

    Hairpins in the conformations of a confined polymer

    If a semiflexible polymer confined to a narrow channel bends around by 180 degrees, the polymer is said to exhibit a hairpin. The equilibrium extension statistics of the confined polymer are well understood when hairpins are vanishingly rare or when they are plentiful. Here we analyze the extension statistics in the intermediate situation via experiments with DNA coated by the protein RecA, which enhances the stiffness of the DNA molecule by approximately one order of magnitude. We find that the extension distribution is highly non-Gaussian, in good agreement with Monte Carlo simulations of confined discrete wormlike chains. We develop a simple model that qualitatively explains the form of the extension distribution.     Comparative Study of Ram Air Turbines based on Wind Tunnel Study for Specific Air Borne Energy Extraction

    Ram Air Turbines (RAT) are used for emergency on-board power generation on aircraft and associated systems. Many studies on usage of RATs have shown promising results in terms of using RATs as a source of emergency on-board power generation. Many external podded systems on aircraft utilise RATs for self-sufficient adaptation. These pods generate their own power using RATs for their power requirements instead of depending on the mother aircraft power. Commercial cargo planes use RATs for generating emergency hydraulic power. A RAT was suggested to be used for emergency power, during failure of main alternator on a prototype aircraft. A specific requirement of the RAT was also to produce high drag for aerodynamic braking when deployed and concurrently generate electrical energy. Three models with different solidity were studied in wind tunnel at different wind speeds for suitability of this drag-energy combination. This paper presents the results of the study. Based on the results, a suitable RAT was selected for further analysis and ground trials

    Outcome of distal femoral fractures treated with locking compression plates

    Background: Fixation of distal femoral fractures with a lateral plate alone is associated with nonunion and/or malunion with varus collapse. Locking compression plates may reduce the tendency of varus collapse. Hence, we evaluated the union rates and functional and anatomical outcome in patients of distal femoral fractures who were treated with locking compression plates.Methods: This prospective study was conducted at a tertiary health care center at Bangalore between July 2010 and June 2012. Patients with distal femoral fractures were treated with locking compression plates and were followed up for at least 6 months. Outcomes were evaluated using Neer’s score to assess outcomes in adult distal femoral fractures.Results: The study included 22 patients (10 males and 11 females) among whom one patient was lost to follow up within 6 months after the procedure. All the fractures were post-traumatic. Nineteen (91%) patients had closed fractures whereas two (9%) had open fractures. Muller’s A1 type was the most common (n=7) type of fracture followed by C2, C1, A2 (n=4 each) and B1, A3 (n= 1 each). Median duration of follow-up was 8 months (range: 6-18 months). The mean NEER’s functional score was 80 points. Overall results were excellent in 5 (24%) out of 21 cases and were satisfactory in 15 (71%) cases and only one had an unsatisfactory result.Conclusions: Locking compression plates offer excellent-satisfactory outcome in patients with distal femoral fractures.

    Evolution of the fishtail-effect in pure and Ag-doped MG-YBCO

    We report on magnetic measurements carried out in a textured YBa2_2Cu3_3O7δ_{7-\delta} and YBa2_2(Cu1x_{1-x}Agx_x)3_3O7δ_{7-\delta} (at xx \approx 0.02) crystals. The so-called fishtail-effect (FE) or second magnetization peak has been observed in a wide temperature range 0.4~<T/Tc<<T/T_c<~0.8 for Hc\textbf{H}\parallel c. The origin of the FE arises for the competition between surface barrier and bulk pinning. This is confirmed in a non-monotonically behavior of the relaxation rate RR. The value HmaxH_{max} for Ag-doped crystals is larger than for the pure one due to the presence of additional pinning centers, above all on silver atoms.Comment: 6 pages, 6 figure
