    Get PDF
Heterocyclic compounds are the largest and most versatile class of organic compounds. Plants produce valuable heterocyclic substances called phytohormones to carry out the growth process. They control the growth or other physiological functions. Both hormones and vitamins are generally referred as plant growth regulators. Aromatic compounds having lactone ring are called coumarin. Coumarin is one of the most important natural substances in plants and is referred to as anti‐auxins, as these compounds are considered to play an essential role in plants growth as well as defense

Conserving the natural resources results in improved agricultural productivity which is a key driver for poverty reduction in rural areas. To empower the women and to enhance their socio-economic status for better livelihoods, Self-Help Groups (SHG) were formed by both the Government Organizations (GO) and Non-Government Organizations (NGO). They facilitated the participation of women through various means in Natural Resource Management (NRM) activities. To find out the distribution of the women groups in different stages of NRM activities and to analyze the influence of profile, supportive, structural and functional characteristics on participatory management in NRM activities, an ex-post facto study was conducted in Telangana, Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions among 240 SHGs. The study revealed that majority of the women respondents had medium level of ‘total participatory management’ followed by high level and low level

The global economy is suffering as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Because of the health and psychosocial issues, both private and public sector organizations are impacted. Leaders and employees must be committed, engaged, and supportive during this crucial process. To ensure that the overall process runs smoothly, leaders should act and energize on the same page and same attitudes, i.e., transformational leadership styles. Hence, this study attempted to examine the effect of transformational leadership on employee satisfaction during Covid-19, along with the mediating role of employee empowerment between the transformational leadership and employee satisfaction of employees working in public sector organizations. The results of this study revealed the positive association between characteristics of transformational leadership such as coping with uncertainty and ambiguity, guidance and support, risk management, and supporting teamwork, with job satisfaction. Moreover, the mediating results of this study show that employee empowerment significantly mediates the relationship between coping with uncertainty and ambiguity, guidance and support, risk management, and job satisfaction. The current study validates that the characteristics of transformational leadership have a strong effect on job satisfaction among public sector employees. Therefore, the role of transformational leaders during increased healthcare and psychosocial challenges is highly influential. The limitations and future recommendations are also conveyed in this study

Objective: To assess the impact of admission delay on the outcome of critical patients. Methods: The retrospective chart review was done at Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, and comprised adult patients visiting the Emergency Department during 2010. Outcome measures assessed were total hospital length of stay, total cost of the visit and in-hospital mortality. Patients admitted within 6 hours of presentation at Emergency Department were defined as non-delayed. Data was analysed using SPSS 19.Results: Of the 49,532 patients reporting at the Emergency Department during the study period, 17,968 (36.3%) were admitted. Of them 2356(13%) were admitted to special or intensive care units, 1595(67.7%) of this sub-group stayed in the Emergency Department for \u3e6 hours before being shifted to intensive care. The study focussed on 325(0.65%) of the total patients; 164(50.5%) in the non-delayed group and 161(49.5%) in the delayed group. The admitting diagnosis of myocardial infarction (p=0.00) and acute coronary syndrome (p=0.01) was significantly more common in the non-delayed group compared to other diagnoses like cerebrovascular attacks (p=0.03) which was significantly more common in the delayed group. There was no significant difference in the hospital length of stay between the two groups (p\u3e0.05). The Emergency Department cost was significantly increased in the delayed group (p0.05).CONCLUSIONS: There was no significant difference in the delayed and non-delayed groups, but long Emergency Department stays are distressing for both physicians and patients

Due to its high energy generation potential, coal is widely used in power generation in different countries. Although, the presence of carbon, hydrogen and sulfur in coal facilitates the energy generation in coal combustion, some pollutants including COx, SOx, NOx, particulate matter (PM) and heavy metals are accumulated in air and water and lead to severe environmental and health impacts as a result of leaching, volatilization, melting, decomposition, oxidation, hydration and other chemical reactions. In addition, fly ash, in both wet and dry forms, is mobilized and induces severe impacts including bone deformities and kidney dysfunction, particularly with exposure of radionuclides. This review will cover the impact of these major pollutants (including COx, SOx, NOx, PM, and heavy metals (traces)) on human health and the environment. Given the lack of adequate data about the cumulative health based impacts of these pollutants from coal combustion, this review can be used as a significant tool to further explore disease-association risks and design standard management protocols to overcome coal associated health and environmental assaults.
