Anomalous Transport Processes in Anisotropically Expanding Quark-Gluon Plasmas
We derive an expression for the anomalous viscosity in an anisotropically
expanding quark-gluon-plasma, which arises from interactions of thermal partons
with dynamically generated color fields. The anomalous viscosity dominates over
the collisional viscosity for large velocity gradients or weak coupling. This
effect may provide an explanation for the apparent ``nearly perfect'' liquidity
of the matter produced in nuclear collisions at RHIC without the assumption

Nuclear Medium Modifications of Hadrons from Generalized Parton Distributions
We study the structure of generalized parton distributions in spin 0 nuclei
within a microscopic approach for nuclear dynamics. GPDs can be used on one
side as tools to unravel the deep inelastic transverse structure of nuclei in
terms of both transverse spatial and transverse momentum degrees of freedom. On
the other, one can obtain information on GPDs themselves by observing how they
become modified in the nuclear environment. We derive the structure of the
nuclear deeply virtual Compton scattering tensor and generalized parton
distributions at leading order in in a field-theoretical framework. The
nuclear generalized parton distributions are calculated using a two step
process -- the convolution approach -- where the scattering process happens
from a quark inside a nucleon, itself inside a nucleus, disregarding final
state interactions with both the nuclear and nucleon debris. We point out that
details of the nuclear long range interactions such as two-body currents, can
be disregarded compared to the deep inelastic induced modifications of the
bound GPDs. We show how the pattern of nuclear modifications predicted, and in
particular the deviations of off-shell effects from the longitudinal
convolution provide clear signals to be sought in experimental measurements.
Finally, we find interesting relationships by studying Mellin moments in
nuclei: in particular we predict the -dependence for the -term of GPDs
within a microscopic approach, and the behavior with of the total momentum
carried by quarks in a nucleus. The latter provides an important element for
the evaluation of nuclear hadronization phenomena which are vital for
interpreting current and future data at RHIC, HERMES and Jefferson Lab.Comment: 29 pages, 10 figure
Heterogeneity, Communication, Coordination and Voluntary Provision of a Public Good
The results of twenty-four laboratory sessions are evaluated with respect to the role of alternative definitions of equity when communication is introduced into an environment in which voluntary contributions determine the level of public good provision to small groups of individuals. Individuals experience both non-communication and communication treatments. Additional treatments include the extent to which subjects have information about othersâ payoffs from (preferences for) the consumption of public goods and about othersâ incomes and payoff functions (preferences). With communication, participants in incomplete information environments are less able to coordinate their contributions while those in complete information environments succeed more often. Under complex heterogeneity payoff distributions widen with the introduction of communication. The data do not support the emergence of a particular pattern of coordination across all treatments.
GLUMIP 2.0: SAS/IML Software for Planning Internal Pilots
Internal pilot designs involve conducting interim power analysis (without interim data analysis) to modify the final sample size. Recently developed techniques have been described to avoid the type~I error rate inflation inherent to unadjusted hypothesis tests, while still providing the advantages of an internal pilot design. We present GLUMIP 2.0, the latest version of our free SAS/IML software for planning internal pilot studies in the general linear univariate model (GLUM) framework. The new analytic forms incorporated into the updated software solve many problems inherent to current internal pilot techniques for linear models with Gaussian errors. Hence, the GLUMIP 2.0 software makes it easy to perform exact power analysis for internal pilots under the GLUM framework with independent Gaussian errors and fixed predictors.
Radio continuum and X-ray emission from the most extreme FIR-excess galaxy NGC 1377: An extremely obscured AGN revealed
Galaxies which strongly deviate from the radio-far IR correlation are of
great importance for studies of galaxy evolution as they may be tracing early,
short-lived stages of starbursts and active galactic nuclei (AGNs). The most
extreme FIR-excess galaxy NGC1377 has long been interpreted as a young dusty
starburst, but millimeter observations of CO lines revealed a powerful
collimated molecular outflow which cannot be explained by star formation alone.
We present new radio observations at 1.5 and 10 GHz obtained with the Jansky
Very Large Array (JVLA) and Chandra X-ray observations towards NGC1377. The
observations are compared to synthetic starburst models to constrain the
properties of the central energy source. We obtained the first detection of the
cm radio continuum and X-ray emission in NGC1377. We find that the radio
emission is distributed in two components, one on the nucleus and another
offset by 4.5 to the South-West. We confirm the extreme FIR-excess of the
galaxy, with a 4.2, which deviates by more than
7- from the radio-FIR correlation. Soft X-ray emission is detected on
the off-nucleus component. From the radio emission we estimate for a young
( Myr) starburst a star formation rate SFR0.1 M yr. Such
a SFR is not sufficient to power the observed IR luminosity and to drive the CO
outflow. We find that a young starburst cannot reproduce all the observed
properties of the nucleus of NGC1377. We suggest that the galaxy may be
harboring a radio-quiet, obscured AGN of 10M, accreting at
near-Eddington rates. We speculate that the off-nucleus component may be

Exact Results for Evaporating Black Holes in Curvature-Squared Lovelock Gravity: Gauss-Bonnet Greybody Factors
Lovelock gravity is an important extension of General Relativity that
provides a promising framework to study curvature corrections to the Einstein
action, while avoiding ghosts and keeping second order field equations. This
paper derives the greybody factors for D-dimensional black holes arising in a
theory with a Gauss-Bonnet curvature-squared term. These factors describe the
non-trivial coupling between black holes and quantum fields during the
evaporation process: they can be used both from a theoretical viewpoint to
investigate the intricate spacetime structure around such a black hole, and for
phenomenological purposes in the framework of braneworld models with a low
Planck scale. We derive exact spectra for the emission of scalar, fermion and
gauge fields emitted on the brane, and for scalar fields emitted in the bulk,
and demonstrate how the Gauss-Bonnet term can change the bulk-to-brane emission
rates ratio in favour of the bulk channel in particular frequency regimes.Comment: 29 pages, Latex file, 11 figures, Data files (greybody factors)

KLOE results at the Frascati -factory DANE
The KLOE experiment at the Frascati -factory DANE has collected
about 0.5 fb of data till the end of the year 2002. These data allow to
perform a wide physics program, ranging from the physics of charged and neutral
kaons to radiative -decays. Results are presented for the lifetime
and the semileptonic processes . From the light meson
