This study addresses the concerns regarding the performance of Handwritten Character Recognition (HCR) systems, focusing on the classification stage. It is widely acknowledged that the development of the classification model significantly impacts the overall performance of HCR. The problems identified specifically pertain to the classification model, particularly in the context of the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) learning problem, leading to low accuracy in recognizing handwritten characters. The objective of this study is to improve and refine the ANN classification model to achieve better HCR. To achieve this goal, this study proposed a hybrid Flower Pollination Algorithm with Artificial Neural Network (FPA-ANN) classification model for HCR. The FPA is one of the metaheuristic approaches is utilized as an optimization technique to enhance the performance of ANN, particularly by optimizing the network training process of ANN. The experimentation phase involves using the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) handwritten character database. Finally, the proposed FPA-ANN classification model is analysed based on generated confusion matrix and evaluated performance of the classification model in terms of precision, sensitivity, specificity, F-score and accuracy

Framework Of Strategic Alignment Through Enterprise Architecture For Organization Performance

One of the topics in strategic planning of information systems is Business-IT alignment (BITA). BITA is manifested in strategic alignment, which is generally seen as an important factor as a driver for optimizing business performance. Strategy conformity is related to the suitability of internal resource capabilities and external opportunities towards superior performance. To realize the suitability of Business and IT strategies, a framework is needed, namely Enterprise Architecture (EA). Many studies have focused on business and IT customization using EA, but none have addressed how to relate it to organizational performance. Meanwhile, the goal of IT investment is to improve organizational performance by aligning IT with the business. For this reason, the solution is to develop a framework for conformity with Business and IT strategies through EA by mapping organizational performance. The resulting output is a framework used to align IT with business strategy through EA and its relationship to organizational performance

Evaluation usability measurement index for higher education institute

The Usability Measurement Index (UMI) for Higher Education websites is an instrument to measure the usability of higher education websites using the weightedpoint based system. It has been proposed to overcome the shortcomings of Webometrics, which merely rank HEI websites based on certain criteria that are not related to usability. Testing of UMI has shown that it can be used to measure the usability of HEI websites. However, this is based on a small-scale study comprising of two HEI websites and 40 respondents. Thus, the aim of this research is to validate the instrument. In order to successfully validate it, ratings were given to each category and factors that had been previously proposed. Then total score were given based on both weights and ratings. Besides that, the Think-Aloud method had been applied as an appropriate add-on value to the UMI in order to increase its validity. In this research, two of the HEI websites from the Webometrics rank were used and an increased number of participants that is 60 participants were involved. The results were compared with their rank on the Webometrics ranking. The result showed that the gap between the two HEI websites were not as huge as shown in the Webometrics ranking. So, the rank of the Webometric is not the true reflection of the overall usability of the website itself. The UMI is considered validated because the instrument had been added an add-on value in Think-Aloud method and higher number of participants involved
