    How Leadership Behaviors Affect Organizational Performance in Pakistan

    The purposes of this study are to analyze which leadership behavior is most closely related with organizational performances based on both leader’s and employee’s perceived; and to what extent leadership behaviors have impact on organizational performances in public and private organizations. Two questionnaires were developed to capture leaders’ behaviors and employees’ responses. Sample comprises of five hundred managers and five hundred employees of different private and public sector organizations of Pakistan. Correlation analysis and regression analysis are used to analyze relationship and effects of leadership behaviors with and on organizational performances. Results indicate that: firstly, all leadership behaviors are positively interrelated with leader is perceived and employee has perceived organizational performances. Secondly, only monitoring leadership behavior has significant positive impact on leader’s and employee’s perceived organizational performance based on individual analysis; whereas, innovative role modeling, support for innovation, recognition and monitoring leadership behaviors have significant positive impact on leader’s perceived and employee’s perceived organizational performances based on pooled analysis

    Influence of single and multiple dry bands on critical flashover voltage of silicone rubber outdoor insulators: simulation and experimental study

    Dry band formation on the surface of outdoor insulators is one of the main reasons leading to flashover and power outages. In this paper, a dynamic arc model is proposed for single and multiple dry bands configuration to predict the critical flashover voltage for silicone rubber outdoor insulators. An arc is modelled as a time dependent impedance consisting of a Resistor Inductor Capacitor (RLC) circuit. The effect of dry band location and existence of multiple dry bands on critical flashover voltage is investigated. To validate the proposed model, experiments were conducted in a climate chamber under controlled environmental conditions on rectangular silicone rubber sheets polluted using improved solid layer method based on IEC 60,507. Tests were conducted at different dry band configurations and pollution severity levels. A good correlation was found between experimental results and simulation results. This model can provide a good foundation for the development of mathematical models for station post insulators having multiple dry and clean bands and can be used in the design and selection of outdoor insulators for polluted conditions

    Accepting of E-banking among Banking Customers of Pakistan

    E-banking is a platform through which a banking customer can perform its financial or non financial transactions electronically without visiting bank, which not only reduces transaction costs but also saves time.E-banking customers are increasing worldwide but its adoption is low in Pakistan. This study is done to investigate the most important factors which contribute to the espousal of E-banking in Pakistan. For this research primary data was collected from 217 customers of different ages, data was collected by structured questionnaire. Statistical descriptive analysis was used to analyze the data. The results shows that privacy and security, trust, ease of usefulness, knowledge and awareness, inaccessibility and came in person preferences are the factors which affect adoption of E-banking in Pakistani customers. Findings also indicate that banking customers of Pakistan are willing to take on E-banking if proper guideline and awareness is provided to them by banks or banking regularity authorities

    Policy Alienation and Street-level Bureaucrats' Psychological Wellbeing:The Mediating Role of Alienative Commitment

    In an era of New Public Management reforms, public sector policies often create a mismatch between social and economic values that can lead to public policy alienation—professionals’ feelings of disconnection from public policies. Policy alienation can create unrest among public professionals and carry several negative repercussions for their wellbeing and work-related attitudes. The negative repercussions of policy alienation are likely to inhibit public service delivery. However, existing research on policy alienation and its consequences for street-level bureaucrats’ wellbeing is scarce. Thus, it is unknown how policymakers can curb policy disconnect and counter its negative implications. To contribute to both general policy alienation theory and practice, our study hypothesized that the two dimensions of general policy meaninglessness—client meaninglessness and societal meaninglessness—are negatively related to street-level bureaucrats’ psychological wellbeing. We hypothesize this negative relationship is due to alienative commitment. A time-lagged survey data collected from 401 public professionals and analyzed using structural equation modeling supported our hypothesized relationships. The present study extends the nomological networks of the antecedents and consequences of alienative commitment and offers important implications that can help policymakers counter the issues related to public professionals’ alienative commitment and psychological wellbeing

    “Articulating cognizance about what to hide what not":Insights into why and when ethical leadership regulates employee knowledge-hiding behaviors

    Given the dearth of research examining the distinctions across various facets of employee knowledge-hiding (KH) behaviors, there is little known about why and when leadership negatively influences playing dumb and evasive hiding but positively influences rationalized hiding. The present study fills this void by hypothesizing that employee justice orientation (JO) acts as a mediator of the associations of ethical leadership (EL) with different facets of employee KH behaviors. We also propose employee conscientiousness moderates the relationship of EL with JO and the indirect relationships of ethical leadership with distinct variants of employee KH behaviors. The results based on time-lagged data from 387 employees provide support for the hypothesized relationships. Together, our research provides a more nuanced account of the influence of leadership on employee KH behaviors that can facilitate the development of more appropriate interventions to deal with the intricate problems related to employee KH behaviors

    An area-optimized N-bit multiplication technique using N/2-bit multiplication algorithm

    A unique design for an optimized N-bit multiplier is proposed and implemented which utilizes a modified divide-and-conquer technique. The conventional technique requires four N/2-bit multipliers to perform N-bit multiplication, whereas the proposed design uses only one multiplier module in hardware to perform the functionality of four modules. It uses Dadda algorithm in its multiplier module. It has been implemented using Verilog HDL, and a good accuracy of results was observed in simulations which effectively verify its functionality. Design was also synthesized on various FPGAs including Spartan 3E, Virtex-5 and Virtex-7. Performance summary, after place and route, showed that the proposed approach significantly reduces hardware utilization. Furthermore, the proposed design is almost 75% more efficient in terms of resources utilization and operating frequency as compared to the conventional design

    A Communitarian Alternative Solution to the Pension Crisis

    This paper evaluates the economic effects of a politically communitarian model of family ties towards the pension crisis in developing countries. The use of a Canadian - an individualist-oriented political economic pension system - is compared to a religiously and culturally communitarian form of family care in Bangladesh, a country slowly feeling the effects of the pension crisis. The analysis concludes, based on theoretical and economic evidence, that it is not in the social or economic interest of Bangladesh or similar countries to use the same policies currently being deployed by Canada and most other OECD countries. This paper is the first of its kind to apply socioeconomic costs and benefits of developed countries’ policies and apply them to the context of a developing country—keeping in mind the cultural aspect and its implications. It aims at bringing back original ethical and moral values with a social orientation that should inspire all stakeholders to ensure family self-regulation that converge toward a solid foundation of communitarian principles
