Labour productivity in the agri-food sector in the European Union countries
Celem badań była analiza porównawcza wydajności pracy w gospodarce żywnościowej w krajach
UE w 2009 r. Wydajność pracy obliczono odnosząc wartość produkcji globalnej i wartości dodanej brutto
gospodarki narodowej. Głównym materiałem źródłowym były Bilanse przepływów międzygałęziowych dla
poszczególnych krajów UE. Wyniki obliczeń wskazują, że poziom wydajności pracy w gospodarce żywno-
ściowej w krajach UE wykazuje znaczne zróżnicowanie. W krajach zachodniej i północnej Europy poziom
Rumunii. W ogóle w krajach środkowo-wschodniej Europy wydajność pracy w gospodarce żywnościowej
jest znacznie niższa niż w krajach UE-15. Spowodowane to było przede wszystkim wadliwością strukturalną,
związaną ze zbyt dużymi zasobami pracy w rolnictwie w nowych krajach członkowskich UE. Wpływało to
ściowym w stosunku do całej gospodarki narodowej. The purpose of the article was a comparative analysis of labor productivity in the agri-food sector in the
European Union countries in 2009. Labour productivity is calculated by referring the global productivity and
gross value added per 1 employee and labor relations were measured in the agri-food industry against the
background of the entire national economy. The primary source material were input-output table for individual
countries of the European Union. The calculation results indicate that the level of labor productivity in the
agri-food industry in the EU has significant differences. In the countries of Western and Northern Europe,
this performance level was about 160-180 thousand euro and it was almost fifteen more than in Bulgaria
and Romania. In all the countries of Central and Eastern European labor productivity in the food industry is
much lower than in the EU-15. This is due to a structural defect primarily associated with very large pools of
labor in agriculture in the new EU member states. It also affects the difficulty in obtaining in those countries
being compared performance in the agri-food sector against the background of the entire national economy
Input-output analysis of agriculture in the EU countries
Celem opracowania jest przedstawienie zaopatrzenia materiałowego (zużycia pośredniego),
produkcji globalnej i wartości dodanej brutto w sektorze rolnym w krajach Unii Europejskiej. W
krajach o wysokim poziomie rozwoju gospodarczego w zaopatrzeniu materiałowym rolnictwa duże
znaczenie posiada sektor wytwarzający środki produkcji i usługi (sfera I) oraz przetwórstwo rolno-spożywcze (sfera III), natomiast obrót wewnętrzny jest na niskim poziomie. Rolnictwo jest głownie
działem surowcowym. Z kolei w krajach biedniejszych, w tym w Polsce, w rolnictwie dominujące
znaczenie odgrywa produkcja surowców wewnątrz tego sektora, czyli obrót wewnętrzny. Sektor rolny
w tych krajach znajduje się we wczesnym stadium przeobrażeń w kierunku nowoczesności. W
wszystkim wzrost gospodarczy i objęcie całego sektora rolno-żywnościowego instrumentami WPR
UE.The aim of the paper was to display the agricultural material supply, global production and
gross value added in agriculture in the EU countries. In higher developed countries the sectors
providing means of production and providing services (sphere I) as well as food and fodder processing
industry (sphere III) are of the highest importance, while the significance of internal flows in
agriculture is rather smaller. Agriculture mainly plays the role of a material supplying sector. In the
poorer EU countries, including Poland, the internal supply flow in agriculture is still of the highest
importance. The agri-food sector is in an early step of development. Importance of the first sector,
especially services, in the material supply of agribusiness ought to increase. The main condition for
changing the situation in Poland is to generate an economic growth and to be able to benefit from the
CAP instruments
Selected interdependence intermodal in the agri-food sector in the European Union
The aim of this article is to present the possibilities of the use of input-output balances to determine the interdependence of branch based on selected indicators: profitability and labour consumption of agri-food sector in the countries of the European Union in the years 1995, 2000 and 2007. The primary research method was a method of input-output. The main test materials were input-output balances for individual countries of the European Union, which was calculated on the basis of profitability and labour consumption in the food industry. Input-output model allows for in-depth analysis of the macro-economy and is an important instrument for the evaluation and interpretation of economic phenomena. It also allows you to carry out comprehensive evaluations of basic economic relationships that characterise the structure of the studied phenomena occurring between them and interdependences, also in comparisons, in dynamic and international system. In developed countries, mainly in the EU-15 the presented dependencies are at a lower level than in the new Member States
The importance of agriculture in the Polish national economy: macroeconomic and regional analysis
The main objective of the article was to analyze the importance of agriculture in the
national economy in Poland at the macroeconomic and regional level, concerning its production
potential (labour, capital and investments) as well as its production output and income. The results of
the analysis show that agriculture still remains in Poland an important sector of the national economy.
After the accession to the EU the situation in the sector is being stabilized, however the importance of
the agriculture in Poland is still strongly regionally differentiated.Podstawowym celem artykułu była analiza znaczenia rolnictwa w gospodarce narodowej w
Polsce w ujęciu makroekonomicznym i regionalnym, w zakresie potencjału wytwórczego (zasobów
pracy, wartości brutto środków trwałych i nakładów inwestycyjnych) oraz wyników produkcyjnych i
dochodowych.
dalszym ciągu znaczenie gospodarcze rolnictwa jest dość mocno zróżnicowane regionalnie
Food industry output and its allocation in the context of the links with the national economy
The paper has been intended to present raw materials purchasing in the food industry, creation and allocation of food industry products supply in Poland and germany. A correlation analysis that has been carried out in the Polish agri-food industry shows that changes are favourable, and the internal structure of raw material purchasing as well as the ties between
food industry and national economy are changing. A comparative analysis shows that the role of the first sector, including mainly the services sector, for the raw material purchasing in the third sector has to increase. The agri-food sector will act as a recipient of agricultural raw materials and as the major supplier of finished food products to the customers (final demand). The role of exports and imports in creation and allocation of food industry products supply should increase – this in turn will result in a growing impact of the global processes on development of the entire agri-food sector in Poland. All elements of the
food economy are equivalent without any doubt, although the agri-food industry should play the leading and integrating role
Agricultural production and distribution in terms of relations with the national economy (comparative sectoral analysis of the agricultures in Poland and in Germany)
The aim of the paper was to present the material procurement of the agricultural sector as well
as the processes of creating and distributing of agricultural products’ supply in Poland and in
Germany. The economic development led to the growth of importance of the sectors providing
means of production and rendering services to the agricultural sector in the material procurement
of agriculture. As agriculture is becoming mainly a primary production sector, its significance in
this scope has diminished. It is confirmed by the fact that the supply of agricultural products is
intended mainly for indirect consumption. Apart from self-supply, agriculture is an important raw
material supplier for the food industry and other branches of the country’s economy. The remaining,
smaller part of supply is intended for fulfilling a final demand especially including the consumption
in households
Importance of agribusiness in national economies of Poland and Germany. Production and income results
Celem opracowania było porównanie wyników produkcyjnych i dochodowych
w agrobiznesie w Polsce i Niemczech.
i dochodowych.
i przemysłów wytwarzających środki produkcji i usługi. W latach 1995, 2000
The objective of the research is to compare the importance of agribusiness in
Polish and German economies. The paper analyses the internal structure of agribusiness
and its share in national economies in terms of production and income results. The analysis
is based on input-output matrix. The results show that the changes in the agribusiness
structure in Poland go in the desired direction. The agriculture loses its significance, while
food industry and industries manufacturing the production means and service become
more significant. Agribusiness’ share in the national economy in Poland has been systematically
falling in the analysed period. It must be emphasised here that the Polish agribusiness
is still run in an old fashioned way, while in Germany it is modern. The main condition
to change the situation in Poland is to generate economic growth and be able to benefit
from the CAP instruments
The material supply agriculture in Polish and Germany in the input-output analysis
Celem opracowania było porównanie zaopatrzenia materiałowego rolnictwa w Polsce i Niemczech. W
krajach wysoko rozwiniętych w zaopatrzeniu materiałowym rolnictwa dominuje sektor wytwarzający środki produkcji
i usługi, niewielkie jest znaczenie obrotów wewnętrznych. Rolnictwo staje się głównie działem surowcowym oraz
ważnym dostarczycielem surowców dla przemysłu spożywczego i innych gałęzi gospodarki narodowej. The aim of the paper was to compare agricultural material supply in Poland and Germany. The economic
development initialised an increase in signifi cance of sectors manufacturing means of production and providing
services in agricultural material supply. The signifi cance of an agriculture in this scope was diminished as this branch
has become mailny a primary sector. Apart from self-supply, agriculture is an important raw material supplier for
alimentary industry and other country’s economy branches
