The Role of Personality Traits in Predicting the Spiritual Intelligence of Senior High School Students in Bostanabad
For downloading the full-text of this article please click here.Background and Objective: Nowadays, scientists of different fields pay a special attention to spirituality as a transcendent aspect of every person’s life. Several studies have shown that personality traits and spiritual intelligence are two structures that affect each other. The aim of this study was to predict the spiritual intelligence of senior high school students in Bostanabad based on personality traits.Method: This descriptive study adopted a cross-sectional design. The statistical population of the study consisted of all male senior high school students in Bostanabad in the 1395-96 educational year. 180 students were selected by multi-stage cluster random sampling. King’s Spiritual Intelligence Self-Report Inventory and NEO Personality Inventory were used for collect data. The gathered data were analyzed using descriptive (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (correlation coefficient and multiple regressions). All ethical issues were observed in this study and the researchers declared no conflict of interests.Results: The results of Pearson correlation coefficients showed that there were significant correlations between spiritual intelligence and the four factors of extroversion, openness to experience, pleasure and conscientiousness. On the other hand, neuroticism had a negative significant correlation with spiritual intelligence (p<0.001). Also, the results of regression analysis showed that conscientiousness, openness to experience, and pleasure could significantly predict students’ spiritual intelligence (P<0.01).Conclusion: The results of the research show a close relationship between personality and spiritual intelligence. Comparison of Forgiveness and Religious Commitment in Couples on the on the Brink of Divorce and Normal Couples
The rising rate of divorce in Iranian society is disconcerting. This study aimed at comparing religious commitment and forgiveness in couples on the rink of divorce and normal couples. The research method is descriptive and causal-comparative. To select the group of couples on the brink of divorce, firstly, the researcher referred to counseling units of the courts and law offices of various cities of the Guilan province. The cases of the couples who were qualified to enter the study were reviewed and of these cases 173 were selected based on availability. Then, 143 normal couples referring to the courts and offices of lawyers which the cause of their resort is nothing but the completions of the divorce case were selected through purposive sampling. They responded to Glock and Stark's Religious Commitment questionnaire, and Ray and et al Forgiveness scale. Obtained data were analyzed by Pearson Chi-squares, independent t-test, multivariate analysis of variance. The results showed that the mean of forgiveness and religious Commitment in couples on the brink of divorce and normal couples significantly different, that is, couples on the brink of divorce have less level of forgiveness than normal couples and in terms of faithfulness and ritual religious commitment, they scored less scores than normal couples. The remarkable difference between the two groups has important marital therapy implications for implementation of forgiveness-oriented intervention and also promotion of religious beliefs and ritual among couples in order to maintain and strengthen the marriage contract
نقش ویژگیهای شخصیت در پیشبینی هوش معنوی دانشآموزان دورهی متوسطهی دوم شهرستان بستانآباد
خلفية البحث وأهدافه: يولي اليوم العلماء من مختلف مجالات العلوم اهتماما خاصا للمعنوية التي تعتبر جانبا متسامياً في حياة كل فرد. اظهرت الدراسات المتعددة ان السمات الشخصية والذكاء المعنوي بمثابة هيكلين يعزز كل منهما الاخر. الغرض من هذه الدراسة تنبؤ الذكاء المعنوي لدى طلاب المدارس الثانوية في قضاء بستان أباد من خلال سماتهم الشخصية.
منهجية البحث: اجريت هذه الدراسة بطريقة وصفية واستعراضية واشتمل المجتمع الاحصائي جميع طلاب المدارس الثانوية في قضاء بستان آباد في السنة الدراسية 2016-2017 حيث تم اختيار 180 طالب منهم بطريقة اخذ عينة عشوائية عنقودية متعددة المراحل. وفي سبيل جمع البيانات، تم استخدام استمارة "كينغ" للذكاء المعنوي ومقياس العوامل الخمسة الكبرى للشخصية (NEO). ولتحليل البيانات وتجزئتها تم استخدام معايير الاحصاء الوصفي (المتوسط والانحراف المعياري) والاحصاء الاستدلالي (معامل الارتباط والانحدار المتعدد). تمت مراعاة جميع الموارد الاخلاقية في هذا البحث؛ و اضافة الى هذا فإن مؤلفي المقالةلم يشيروا الى تضارب المصالح.
الكشوفات: أظهرت نتائج معامل ارتباط بيرسون أن هناك ترابطًا كبيرًا وايجابياً بين الذكاء المعنوي وبين أربعة عوامل من الانبساطية، والانفتاح على الخبرة، و حسن المعشر (المقبولیة) ويقظة الضمير وكان بين الذكاء المعنوي وبين العصابية ترابطاً سلبياً ودالة احصائياً (001/0p<). كما اظهرت نتائج تحليل الانحدار انه تستطيع العوامل التالية: يقظة الضمير والانفتاح على الخبرة وحسن المعشر ان تنبئ عن الذكاء المعنوي لدى الطلاب بشكل ملحوظ (001/0p<).
الاستنتاج: لقد اوضحت نتائج البحث ان هناك علاقة وثيقة بين الشخصية والذكاء المعنوي وبالتالي يمكن لمسؤولي وزارة التربية والتعليم وللأخصائيين النفسيين والمستشارين، استخدام هذه النتائج لتعزيز شخصية الطلاب ومعنوياتهم.

روش کار: این پژوهش از نوع توصیفی - مقطعی است. جامعهی آماری آن شامل کلیهی دانشآموزان دورهی متوسطهی دوم شهرستان بستانآباد در سال تحصیلی 95-96 است که 180 دانشآموز به روش نمونهگیری تصادفی خوشهیی چندمرحلهیی انتخاب شدند. برای گردآوری دادههای پژوهش از پرسشنامهی هوش معنوی کینگ و پرسشنامهی شخصیتی نئو استفاده شد. برای تجزیه و تحلیل دادهها از شاخصهای آماری توصیفی (میانگین و انحراف استاندارد) و آمار استنباطی (ضریب همبستگی و رگرسیون چندگانه) استفاده شد. در این پژوهش همهی مسائل اخلاقی رعایت شده است و نویسندگان مقاله هیچگونه تضاد منافعی گزارش نکردهاند.
یافتهها: نتایج ضرایب همبستگی پیرسون نشان داد چهار عامل برونگرایی، گشودگی به تجربه، خوشایندی و وجدانی بودن با هوش معنوی همبستگی مثبت و معنادار؛ و عامل روانرنجورخویی با هوش معنوی همبستگی منفی و معنادار داشت (001/0p<). همچنین نتایج تحلیل رگرسیون نشان داد وجدانی بودن، گشودگی به تجربه و خوشایندی به طور معناداری میتوانند هوش معنوی دانشآموزان را پیشبینی کنند (001/0p<).
نتیجهگیری: نتایج پژوهش ارتباط تنگاتنگ بین شخصیت و هوش معنوی را نشان میدهد. بر این اساس مسئولان آموزش و پرورش، روانشناسان و مشاوران میتوانند از این نتایج برای تعالی بهتر شخصیتی و معنوی دانشآموزان استفاده کنند.

Physical Activity and Cognitive Function in the Elderly Population
Background: Old age is accompanied by impaired musculoskeletal and nervous system, which may result in low mobility and cognitive problems. This study aims to evaluate the relationship between Physical Activity (PA) and Cognitive Function (CF) among the elderly population.

Materials & Methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study conducted on 200 old people who were members of retirement clubs in Mashhad City, Iran in 2017. They were selected using purposeful sampling method. To collect data, International Physical Activity Questionnaires (IPAQ), and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) tools were employed. The Pearson correlation test and hierarchical regression analysis were used to determine the relationship and predictability of CF with PA, respectively after controlling intervening variable (age). Moreover, 1-way Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) analysis was used to examine difference between CF scores in different PA levels.
Results: There was a positive and significant relationship between PA and CF in the elderly (r=0.63, P<0.0001). After controlling the age factor, PA was able to explain 42% of CF variance (F2,197=72.17, P<0.0001). Moreover, ANCOVA results indicated that cognitive impairment was higher in the elderly with low PA (F2,197=54.40, P<0.0001).
Conclusion: This study showed that lower PA was associated with higher cognitive impairment and older people with moderate and high PA had better CF than elderly with low PA. Therefore, suitable physical activity should be planned for the elderly to improve their ability in performing cognitive tasks
