Analytical solutions of the QCDQED DGLAP evolution equations based on the Mellin transform technique in NLO approximation
In this paper we present a new and efficient analytical solutions for
evolving the QEDQCD DGLAP evolution equations in mellin space and
obtain the parton distribution functions (PDFs) in perturbative QCD including
the QED corrections. The validity of our analytical solutions, which have done
in the next to leading order QCD and the leading order QED approximations, are
checked with the initial parton distributions from newly released CT14QED
global analysis code (Phys. Rev.D93,114015(2016)). The evolved parton
distributions are in good agreement with CT14QED code and also with those from
APFEL (Computer Physics Communications 185, 1647 (2014)) program
Effects of electron-phonon interactions on the electron tunneling spectrum of PbS quantum dots
We present a tunnel spectroscopy study of single PbS Quantum Dots (QDs) as
function of temperature and gate voltage. Three distinct signatures of strong
electron-phonon coupling are observed in the Electron Tunneling Spectrum (ETS)
of these QDs. In the shell-filling regime, the degeneracy of the
electronic levels is lifted by the Coulomb interactions and allows the
observation of phonon sub-bands that result from the emission of optical
phonons. At low bias, a gap is observed in the ETS that cannot be closed with
the gate voltage, which is a distinguishing feature of the Franck-Condon (FC)
blockade. From the data, a Huang-Rhys factor in the range is
obtained. Finally, in the shell tunneling regime, the optical phonons appear in
the inelastic ETS .Comment: 5 pages, 5 figure
Spin-Orbit induced phase-shift in BiSe Josephson junctions
The transmission of Cooper pairs between two weakly coupled superconductors
produces a superfluid current and a phase difference; the celebrated Josephson
effect. Because of time-reversal and parity symmetries, there is no Josephson
current without a phase difference between two superconductors. Reciprocally,
when those two symmetries are broken, an anomalous supercurrent can exist in
the absence of phase bias or, equivalently, an anomalous phase shift
can exist in the absence of a superfluid current. We report on the
observation of an anomalous phase shift in hybrid Josephson
junctions fabricated with the topological insulator BiSe submitted to
an in-plane magnetic field. This anomalous phase shift is observed
directly through measurements of the current-phase relationship in a Josephson
interferometer. This result provides a direct measurement of the spin-orbit
coupling strength and open new possibilities for phase-controlled Josephson
devices made from materials with strong spin-orbit coupling
Effects of Interface Recombination on the Performance of SWCNT\GaAs Heterojunction Solar Cell
AbstractThis paper indicated a theoretical model for describing the effects of the interface recombination on the heterojunction solar cell parameters based on single wall carbon nanotube and GaAs as p-n junction. By choosing the zigzag nanotube and GaAs layer, it is shown that by increasing the interface recombination, short circuit current and open circuit voltage decrease. Depletion current, J-V characteristic and ideality factor variation in terms of interface recombination have been calculated
Near-field spectroscopy and tuning of subsurface modes in plasmonic terahertz resonators
Highly confined modes in THz plasmonic resonators comprising two metallic elements can enhance light-matter interaction for efficient THz optoelectronic devices. We demonstrate that sub-surface modes in such double-metal resonators can be revealed with an aperture-type near-field probe and THz time-domain spectroscopy despite strong mode confinement in the dielectric spacer. The sub-surface modes couple a fraction of their energy to the resonator surface via surface waves, which we detected with the near-field probe. We investigated two resonator geometries: a λ/2 double-metal patch antenna with a 2 μm thick dielectric spacer, and a three-dimensional meta-atom resonator. THz time-domain spectroscopy analysis of the fields at the resonator surface displays spectral signatures of sub-surface modes. Investigations of strong light-matter coupling in resonators with sub-surface modes therefore can be assisted by the aperture-type THz near-field probes. Furthermore, near-field interaction of the probe with the resonator enables tuning of the resonance frequency for the spacer mode in the antenna geometry from 1.6 to 1.9 THz (~15%)
Molecular epidemiology and nitrofurantoin resistance determinants of nitrofurantoin-non-susceptible Escherichia coli isolated from urinary tract infections
Objectives: The worldwide emergence of multidrug-resistant uropathogens has resulted in the revival of old antibiotics such as nitrofurantoin (NIT) for the treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs). This study aimed to identify determinants of NIT resistance and to investigate the genetic diversity of NIT-resistant (NIT-R) Escherichia coli isolates. Methods: Six NIT-R and three NIT-susceptible clinical E. coli isolates from patients with UTI were studied. The susceptibility of the isolates to various classes of antibiotics was evaluated by disk diffusion. The presence of plasmid-encoded efflux pump genes (oqxA and oqxB) was investigated by PCR. Nucleotide sequences of the nfsA, nfsB and ribE genes were determined. The genetic relatedness of the NIT-R isolates was evaluated by multilocus sequence typing (MLST). Results: All six NIT-R isolates were characterised with high-level NIT resistance (MIC 512 mg/L) and they belonged to five distinct STs including ST131 (n = 2), ST73, ST405, ST10 and ST354 (n = 1 each). Amikacin, carbapenems, minocycline, tigecycline and fosfomycin were the most active agents against the studied uropathogens. The oqxA and oqxB genes were not detected in any isolate. All NIT-R isolates harboured inactivating genetic alterations in nfsA and nfsB NfsA H11Y, S33N, S38Y, W212R substitutions, g638 (frameshift), a64-g73 (frameshift) and NfsB F84S, P45S, W94Stop, E197Stop substitutions, nfsB locus. The ribE gene of most isolates was unaffected, except for one isolate co-harbouring a deleterious RibE G85C substitution and NfsA/B alterations. Conclusion: NIT resistance in the studied E. coli isolates was mainly mediated by nfsA and nfsB alterations. © 201
