Department of Criminal Justice and ProcedureMoney laundering (ML) evolves in tandem with global technological advancement. This phenomenon calls for multi-faceted responsive measures at national and international levels to combat this nefarious crime.1 Today, combating ML requires co-operation among, inter alia, financial intelligence units (FIUs), reporting institutions, law enforcement agencies, the judiciary, as well as inter-state co-operation. In response to the ML threat, Kenya has adopted comprehensive anti-money laundering (AML) laws, such as the Proceeds of Crime and Anti- Money Laundering Act No. 9 of 2009 (POCAMLA) and the Prevention of Terrorism Act No. 30 of 2012. These, among other statutes, constitute the principal arsenal of the AML legal framework

Adiabatic Lean Combustion of Liquid Fuel Mist In a Hot Porous Solid

For an ultra lean mixture of liquid fuel (Kerosene) mist and air, adiabatic combustion technology was studied experimentally using a simple perforated cylindrical hot porous ceramic burner. During the steady lean combustion, high excess air ratios; 2.8~3.6 could be achieved through the range of fuel now rate; 0.8~4 g/min. The emission levels of CO and NOx under the excess air ratios less than 2.0 were satisfactorily low. The effects of fuel flow rate on the emission levels were examined, and the mechanisms of flame confinement in the perforated cylindrical hot porous ceramic were discussed in detail. It was shown that the adiabatic combustion method of liquid fuel mist in a hot porous ceramics can be promising combustion technology for many applications owing to the ultra lean mixture condition, the strong light emission and the strong thermal radiation

Effect of Investment Regulations and Subsidies on the Proliferation of Next Generation Vehicles in China

We built a theoretical model of Bertrand competition among joint-venture automobile firms, and examined through numerical simulations the situations in which the Chinese government promotes either hybrid or electric vehicles. We took into account investment ratio regulations with regard to joint ventures and investigated the effects of investment regulations and subsidies that were considered part of environmental policy. Our results indicated that given the high manufacturing cost of electric vehicles and the high level of environmental damage caused by power generation, subsidies relating to hybrid vehicles lead to higher social welfare than those relating to electric vehicles
