The workshop upon which this report is based drew prominent behavioral and social researchers in men's health and related fields together to develop a consensus about men's health care needs and the ways society and our culture create barriers to the development of healthy lifestyles. It examines the sources of denial and how it and related attitudes can be changed, and develops recommendations to address clinical practice, intervention, communications, and policy issues related to men's health. Shirley Jackson\u27 s Portrayal of Female Characters iri Conflict

Shirley Jackson is best known as the author of such horror pieces as The Haunting of Hill House and her most famous story, The Lottery. Although the frightening aspect of her work is unique and effective, readers and critics often respond to this alone. It seems that a more significant effect of her work lies in her portrayal of characters who must react to a wide variety of strange situations. Jackson combines her characters with unusual settings and incidents in a carefully balanced presentation that helps her portray human nature deeply. This paper will focus on a study of Jackson\u27s development of definite patterns followed by her female characters: patterns which convey Jackson\u27s view of humanity in which these characters function

Substance Abuse, Families, and Unified Family Courts: The Creation of a Caring Justice System

This article proposes an approach to family law decision-making tailored to assist families plagued by substance abuse. Substance abuse is linked to social, health, and economic problems facing Americans today and is a factor for a substantial number of family law litigants. By failing to address substance abuse issues, the family repeatedly may need to seek court intervention. The unified family court model is the concept of a single court that coordinates the work of independent agencies and tribunals, each with some limited role in resolving the problems incident to a family\u27s legal matters. Professor Babb has created an interdisciplinary framework for a unified family court, based on therapeutic jurisprudence and the ecology of human development, to help judges and other court professionals consider the many influences on human behavior and family life, thereby empowering the system to offer more pragmatic and effective solutions to contemporary family legal issues. The authors use the Family Division of the Circuit Court for Baltimore City, Maryland, as a case study to illustrate the proposed model. The authors describe the court structure, role of court personnel, and court services. Among the court services are substance abuse resources for litigants. If a judge and/or other court personnel are concerned about substance abuse, they may refer the litigant to a court clinical social worker, who evaluates litigants for substance abuse, prepares a court report, and refers family members to treatment as necessary. For this system to work, expertise in addiction and substance abuse is imperative. The authors conclude that all family justice systems must make a commitment to address substance abuse issues, both by understanding how these issues affect family law cases and by developing policies and procedures to effectively respond to the problem

Aplicación de un sistema de acumulación de costos pecuarios en la granja la “Prosperidad” ubicada en la Comarca Santa Lucia-Condega durante el periodo del 01 de enero al 05 de Junio del 2014

La granja la prosperidad, desempeña un papel importante en el crecimiento económico de la comarca Santa Lucia del municipio de Condega, debido a que es fuente generadora de trabajo y como productora de un bien alimenticio. De aquí surge la necesidad de la implementación de un sistema de acumulación de costo para la granja la prosperidad, otro razón es que la actividad que realiza el propietario no le permite conocer en concreto los resultados de su negocio y nuestro propósito es brindarle una herramienta que le permita llevar un control de las actividades que realiza al interior de la misma. Esta investigación contribuirá a obtener información confiable sobre el entorno que involucra la actividad productiva, administrativa, contable de la granja Se pretende brindar una fuente de información sobre un sistema de costo que facilite la distribución y control de los costos en registros contables dentro de la misma. Como primera actividad, realizamos una investigación y análisis en cuanto a los antecedentes de la granja, con el propósito de conocer la reseña histórica y la situación actual de la misma y así determinar el punto de partida para la implementación del sistema de costos pecuario en la granja. Desde una visión de contaduría pública es necesario contribuir en la toma de decisiones estratégicas en una unidad productiva como son las granjas y las microempresas avícolas rescatando los diferentes costos que tiene cada una de las tareas y de las actividades en los procesos de producción de pollos de engorde desde la recepción, levante, producción y terminación del ciclo, con el sentido de presentar mejoras en la calidad del producto, en el nivel de tecnificación de las actividades, la bioseguridad, la limpieza del pollo de engorde, etc
