CiteFinder: a System to Find and Rank Medical Citations

This thesis presents CiteFinder, a system to find relevant citations for clinicians\u27 written content. Inclusion of citations for clinical information content makes the content more reliable through the provision of scientific articles as references, and enables clinicians to easily update their written content using new information. The proposed approach splits the content into sentences, identifies the sentences that need to be supported with citations by applying classification algorithms, and uses information retrieval and ranking techniques to extract and rank relevant citations from MEDLINE for any given sentence. Additionally, this system extracts snippets from the retrieved articles. We assessed our approach on 3,699 MEDLINE papers on the subject of Heart Failure . We implemented multi-level and weight ranking algorithms to rank the citations. This study shows that using Journal priority and Study Design type significantly improves results obtained with the traditional approach of only using the text of articles, by approximately 63%. Assessing the Safety of Children's Playgrounds from the Parents' Point of View: A Case of the Third District of Tehran

Undoubtedly, playgrounds should be safe and secure environments for children so that children can play in them, enjoy the game and gain different experiences. Despite the above, the statistics regarding the playground environmental incidents in urban areas indicate a lack of proper attention to the safety of playgrounds. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety of children’s playgrounds from the perspective of parents in district 3 of Tehran. The sample of the present study included 295 children from district 3 of Tehran, Iran. The data was collected by the use of standard questionnaires. Also, in order to organize, summarize and describe the data, descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation) were implemented, and in order to test statistical assumptions and prioritization with the normally distributed data, T-Hotelling test and Friedman test were performed. It should be noted that in this study, SPSS software version 23 was used to analyze the data, also the level of reliability of the scale used in this study is 95%. The results of the t-hotelling test showed that the safety of design, the safety of the equipment and the safety of the environmental features in children's playgrounds were in good condition in Tehran's third district. The Relationship of Social Capital With Job Satisfaction And The Quality of Nursing Care In Critical Care Nurses

Introduction and Objective: Social capital is an important factor influencing job satisfaction and the quality of nursing care provided by nurses. This study aimed to examine the relationship between social capital, job satisfaction, and quality of nursing care among critical care nurses working in critical care wards (CCWs). Methods: A descriptive-analytical study was carried out in 2018, on nurses working in the critical care wards (CCWs) of Mazandarn University hospitals located in Sari, Iran. The study included 195 participants who completed a demographic questionnaire, Nahapiet and Ghoshal's Social Capital Questionnaire, Spector's Job Satisfaction Survey, and the Quality Patient Care Scale. The collected data were analyzed using both descriptive (Percentages, means, and standard deviations) and analytical statistics (Analysis of variance, Pearson's correlation coefficient and Univariate regression analysis). Results: The study's findings demonstrated a significant and positive correlation between social capital and both job satisfaction (p=0.001) and the quality of nursing care (p=0.001). Social capital was identified as an independent variable that accounts for 20% of the changes in job satisfaction and 41% of the changes in the quality of nursing care. Conclusion: This study highlights the importance of social capital in promoting job satisfaction and improving the quality of nursing care among CCW nurses. The findings demonstrate that social capital is a key factor that can significantly impact the quality of care provided to patients. Therefore, nursing managers must recognize the value of social capital and take active steps to promote it within their organizations

A Review on Genomics APIs

The constant improvement and falling prices of whole human genome Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) has resulted in rapid adoption of genomic information at both clinics and research institutions. Considered together, the complexity of genomics data, due to its large volume and diversity along with the need for genomic data sharing, has resulted in the creation of Application Programming Interface (API) for secure, modular, interoperable access to genomic data from different applications, platforms, and even organizations. The Genomics APIs are a set of special protocols that assist software developers in dealing with multiple genomic data sources for building seamless, interoperable applications leading to the advancement of both genomic and clinical research. These APIs help define a standard for retrieval of genomic data from multiple sources as well as to better package genomic information for integration with Electronic Health Records. This review covers three currently available Genomics APIs: a) Google Genomics, b) SMART Genomics, and c) 23andMe. The functionalities, reference implementations (if available) and authentication protocols of each API are reviewed. A comparative analysis of the different features across the three APIs is provided in the Discussion section. Though Genomics APIs are still under active development and have yet to reach widespread adoption, they hold the promise to make building of complicated genomics applications easier with downstream constructive effects on healthcare
