Decays Z' -> \gamma\gamma\gamma{} and Z -> \gamma\gamma\gamma{} in the minimal 331 model
The possibility of a significant effect of exotic particles on the
Z'->\gamma\gamma\gamma{} and Z->\gamma\gamma\gamma{} decays is investigated in
the context of the minimal 331 model. This model, which is based in the
SU_C(3)xSU_L(3)xU_X(1) gauge group, predicts the existence of many exotic
charged particles that can significantly enhance the decay widths. It is found
that the standard model prediction for the Z->\gamma\gamma\gamma{} decay
remains essentially unchanged, as the new physics effects quickly decouples. On
the other hand, it is found that the contributions of the new exotic quarks and
gauge bosons predicted by this model lead to a branching fraction for the
Z'->\gamma\gamma\gamma{} decay of about 10^(-6), which is about three orders of
magnitude larger than that of the Z->\gamma\gamma\gamma{} decay.Comment: 20 pages and 20 figure
Calorimetric and acoustic study of binary mixtures containing an isomeric chlorobutane and butyl ethyl ether or methyl tert-butyl ether
Densities and speeds of sound in the temperature range 283.15-313.15 K have been measured for the binary mixtures formed by an isomeric chlorobutane (1-chlorobutane, 2-chlorobutane, 1-chloro-2-methylpropane, or 2-chloro-2-methylpropane) and butyl ethyl ether or methyl tert-butyl ether. Excess isentropic compressibilities were calculated from the experimental data. Excess enthalpies at T = 298.15 K are also included for the same binary mixtures. All these properties provide an insight into the nature of interactions operating on the present systems. Finally, the Prigogine-Flory-Patterson theory has been used to analyze the H E results and to estimate the isentropic compressibility values of the mixtures at T = 298.15 K

Non Sequential Recursive Pair Substitution: Some Rigorous Results
We present rigorous results on some open questions on NSRPS, non sequential
recursive pairs substitution method (see Grassberger in \cite{G}). In
particular, starting from the action of NSRPS on finite strings we define a
corresponding natural action on measures and we prove that the iterated measure
becomes asymptotically Markov. This certify the effectiveness of NSRPS as a
tool for data compression and entropy estimation.Comment: 20 page
Electric dipole and magnetic quadrupole moments of the boson via a CP-violating vertex in effective Lagrangians
The possibility of nonnegligible electric dipole ()
and magnetic quadrupole () moments induced by the most general
vertex is examined via the effective Lagrangian technique. It is assumed
that new heavy fermions induce an anomalous CP-odd component of the
vertex, which can be parametrized by an -invariant
dimension-six operator. This anomalous contribution, when combined with the
standard model CP-even contribution, lead to CP-odd electromagnetic properties
of the boson, which are characterized by the form factors and . It is found that is divergent, whereas is finite,
which reflects the fact that the latter cannot be generated at the one-loop
level in any renormalizable theory. Assuming reasonable values for the unknown
parameters, we found that e-cm,
which is eight orders of magnitude larger than the SM prediction and close to
the upper bound derived from the neutron electric dipole moment. The estimated
size of the somewhat less-studied moment is of the order of
e-cm^2, which is fifteen orders of magnitude above the SM
contribution.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figures, REVTEX styl
Trans-splenic puncture during percutaneous nephrolithotomy: Outcome spectrum of the same complication
AbstractPercutaneous nephrolithotomy is an endourologic technique commonly used in the management of nephrolithiasis. However, this procedure is not complication-free. Splenic injury is exceptionally rare with a reported rate of 1% from the total case load. We present herein two cases of splenic puncture during percutaneous nephrolithotomy that illustrate two different outcomes. In the first case, the patient remained asymptomatic and was discharged on her third post-operative day after removing the nephrostomy, without any sign of hemodynamic compromise. In the second case, the patient presented with hemodynamic instability and an abdominal computed tomography scan was done that showed free fluid in the peritoneal cavity. Emergency laparotomy was performed and revealed a deep peripheral laceration (20mm×5mm in length) that required splenectomy. After a thorough review of the existing literature, we could find only 11 other instances of injury to the spleen in which treatment outcomes were reported. Patient hemodynamic status was the main factor in deciding on the type of treatment
