    Gallic acid protects the liver in rats against injuries induced by transient ischemia-reperfusion through regulating microRNAs expressions

    Objective(s): Gallic acid (GA) is a highly effective antioxidant, which its beneficial effects are well known, but its impact on expression of microRNAs (miRs) following hepatic ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) is not well recognized. Therefore, the current research was designed to specify the beneficial effect of GA on miRs (122 and 34a), liver functional tests, and histopathological alterations beyond I/R-induced hepatic injury. Materials and Methods: Thirty-two rats were randomly divided into four groups (8 per group) including: sham-operated (S), I/R, and GA+I/R pretreated groups. Rats in sham-operated group received physiologic saline (N/S, 2 ml/kg), on a weekly basis, once a day via intraperitoneally route), then a midline abdominal surgery was performed. IR, and GA+IR pretreated groups received physiologic saline (2 ml/kg), and GA (50, and 100 mg per kg) for same time, IP, respectively, before induction of transient ischemia. One hour after reperfusion, biochemical, and histopathological evaluations were performed and expression of miRs were evaluated.Results: The results showed that GA reduced the concentrations of liver enzymes, miR-122, and miR-34a in serum, and preserved liver cells changes induced by I/R injury.Conclusion: These findings showed that GA has beneficial effect on liver damage induced by I/R. Therefore, it is suggested that GA can be administered as an anti-miR before elective hepatic surgeries for prevention of this complication

    An Applied Study on Integration Edges of Failure and TOPSIS to Educational Environment Safety Assessment: A Case Study

    A reliability and safety assessment for a bunch of listed schools can be challengeable for experts by the checklist system for safety reports. This paper aimed to respond to this challenge by merging the edges of failure 'EoF' and the technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution 'TOPSIS' to achieve an integrative approach for educational environment safety assessment. The qualitative assessment was implemented to detect safety faults in the case study area based on the results of the inspections. Then, the quantitative assessment was done to calculate critical points in edges of failure using the TOPSIS method. These points have been calculated for a bunch of listed schools that detected safety faults, and it also takes the form of the 'Jeopardous Pentagon' to calculate 'EoF Integration Mode'. It is an overall safety assessment to indicate performances region by region. This paper collected items of information about the twelve schools in Shahriar divided into three districts. Afterwards, a dangerous area is estimated to rank the existing options by the amount of achievement information. The first rank of the dangerous area between existence options is Shahriar two district. The most critical sides of the JP for first ranked reflect the human error 'RHE' and cultural governance 'CG' by values 0.989 and 0.989 for both intersection points. The combination of EoF and TOPSIS is recommended to apply for a physical and non-physical environment based on the safety checklist system

    Biosynthesis and recovery of rod-shaped tellurium nanoparticles and their bactericidal activities

    In this study, a tellurium-transforming Bacillus sp. BZ was isolated from the Caspian Sea in northern Iran. The isolate was identified by various tests and 16S rDNA analysis, and then used to prepare elemental tellurium nanoparticles. The isolate was subsequently used for the intracellular biosynthesis of elemental tellurium nanoparticles. The biogenic nanoparticles were released by liquid nitrogen and purified by an n-octyl alcohol water extraction system. The shape, size, and composition of the extracted nanoparticles were characterized. The transmission electron micrograph showed rod-shaped nanoparticles with dimensions of about 20 nm ļæ½ 180 nm. The energy dispersive X-ray and X-ray diffraction spectra respectively demonstrated that the extracted nanoparticles consisted of only tellurium and have a hexagonal crystal structure. This is the first study to demonstrate a biological method for synthesizing rod-shaped elemental tellurium by a Bacillus sp., its extraction and its antibacterial activity against different clinical isolates

    ABSTRACT In order to evaluate the effects of seed density, cutting number and Row Spacing on yield and some morphological characteristics of Persian clover, an experiment was conducted as a split plot factorial based on randomized complete block design with three replications at Agricultural Research Station of Borujerd in 2004. The factors were cutting number with two levels (C 1 : second cutting and C 2 : third cutting) as the main factor, seed density with four levels (D 1 :3, D 2 :5, D 3 :7 and D 4 :10 kg.ha -1 ) and row spacing with three levels (S 1 :30, S 2 :40 and S 3 :50 cm). Results showed that the interaction affects of three factors were significant in number of pods per plant, number of grains per pod and grain yield per m 2 . The highest values for the number of pods per plant in third cutting with 3 kg.ha -1 seeding rate and 40 cm row spacing, the number of seed per pod (43.45) in second cutting with 10 kg.ha -1 seeding rate and 50cm row spacing, and the grain yield (249.3 g.m -2 ) in second cutting with 5 kg.ha -1 seeding rate and 50 cm row spacing. Weight of 1000-grains was increased significantly by 5% and interaction effects of seed density and row spacing and cutting number on number of pod per plant, number of grains per pod and grain yield interaction effects significantly at 1% level of probabilities. The highest 1000-grains weight (1.485 g) was obtained with 5 kg.ha -1 seeding rate and 50 cm row spacing

    Background & Objective: Gossypiboma is the meaning of a residual foreign body such as gas in the abdomen following surgical operation, which is a rare complication of surgery. Residual of a foreign body causes mass, fistula, abscess and, obstruction after surgical operation. Computed tomography (CT) scan is a very useful method in the diagnosis of Gossipiboma. In patients who referred with abdominal pain and unexplained manifestations after surgery, Gossypiboma should be considered. Case presentation: A retrospective case study was performed in the year 2020 in a patient with a history of open kidney stone surgery in Hospital of Zabol. A 60-year-old male patient who referred with complaint of neck pain to an orthopedic doctor, which due to a history of kidney stone, the doctor orders an ultrasound of the kidneys. In the ultrasound, a number of stones are observed in the right kidney of this patient. After performing CT scan and Intravenous pyelography (IVP), a foreign body is identified inside the renal pelvis. In the following, the history taken from the patient, the history of open kidney stone surgery during 16 years ago in this patient is determined. During this period, the patient did not have any symptoms, including infection or pain in the mentioned area. Conclusion: In patients with a history of surgery who are referred with abdominal pain or mass, the residual foreign body should be included in the list of differential diagnoses

    Biosynthesis of selenium nanoparticles using Klebsiella pneumoniae and their recovery by a simple sterilization process

    The use of biologically derived metal nanoparticles for various proposes is going to be an issue of considerable importance; thus, appropriate methods should be developed and tested for the biological synthesis and recovery of these nanoparticles from bacterial cells. In this research study, a strain of Klebsiella pneumoniae was tested for its ability to synthesize elemental selenium nanoparticles from selenium chloride. A broth of Klebsiella pneumoniae culture containing selenium nanoparticles was subjected to sterilization at 121ĀŗC and 17 psi for 20 minutes. Released selenium nanoparticles ranged in size from 100 to 550 nm, with an average size of 245 nm. Our study also showed that no chemical changes occurred in selenium nanoparticles during the wet heat sterilization process. Therefore, the wet heat sterilization process can be used successfully to recover elemental selenium from bacterial cells
