The subject of web services has become a popular topic in the area of computer science, as it provides the ability to collect capabilities and components in a unique interface to meet user requirements. One of the significant issues in this area is the development of an accurate service selection approach. In the existing approaches, accuracy refers to the accuracy of the selection method; the accuracy of the input data are neglected. There are many approaches in service selection for managing modelling or algorithmic issues. This research proposes an Accurate approach based on multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) and web service modelling ontology (WSMO), which is called AMW. The accuracy of the selection method is improved compared to existing methods, and the accuracy of the input data are considered. For this purpose, first, a comparative evaluation of state-of-the-art approaches for web service selection approaches has been performed, and the strengths and weaknesses of those approaches have been discussed. Second, the weaknesses of the existing approaches have been identified by applying the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) method to define default criteria weights and enhanced VIšekriterijumsko KOmpromisno Rangiranje (VIKOR) for the selection of services. Moreover, to improve the accuracy of input data, the confidence level of the service provider and the power of the decision maker are considered. Finally, the AMW approach has been validated by applying two case studies with various situations. The results of the experimental validation demonstrate that AMW provides an accurate and feasible solution. The results of this research can assist service consumers in attaining a more accurate decision when selecting the appropriate service

Development of new product’s transaction in Unit Trust System (UTS) for Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB)

Nowadays Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) is the biggest fund manager in Malaysia by introducing some product for investing. One of the PNB strategies for remaining the best is announcing new product to society, the newest unit that will be offered is Amanah Saham XX which is called ASXX and its would be a fixed price unit. PNB for selling its product uses some agents such as banks that one of them is CIMB Bank. By entering every new product, the previous system of CIMB has to enhance and new product’s requirement add to the system. Generally the management system is included three major part, that are: Front End, Server and Host that three groups of people work on each of them. The most important activity of the system is transaction that is one of the Front End activities. In transaction all new information are inserted to the system, then system translate them to data and send them to server for saving. Also most of interfaces that exist in the system are related to transaction, so for new product it needs to create new interfaces for system. The methodology that is used during this project is Advise methodology and the focus of project is on elaboration and construction phases. Because of the system design doesn’t change, the only deliverable that needs to complete, is System Design Description (SDD) and new detail of the system should add to it

A hybrid approach for web service selection

Web service selection which is specified to evaluate and select the best candidate from discovered Web services became one of the most significant topic in recent research on Service oriented Architecture (SOA). Indeed, current approaches are not sufficient enough to overcome Web service selection problems. Due to the nature of Web service selection, it is important to lead it to Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM). However, there are several MCDM methods such as AHP, ANP, TOPSIS and VIKOR. In this paper we propose a hybrid approach to solve Web service selection problem. First, we apply Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) to evaluate the weights of criteria instead of collect the weights directly from service consumer. In the next tread, we use VIKOR (VIšekriterijumsko KOmpromisno Rangiranje) to identify and rank the appropriate candidate services. Finally, in order to demonstrate the proposed method we have afforded an example using four criteria of QoS and five alternative services

An approach for web service selection based on confidence level of decision maker

Web services today are among the most widely used groups for Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). Service selection is one of the most significant current discussions in SOA, which evaluates discovered services and chooses the best candidate from them. Although a majority of service selection techniques apply Quality of Service (QoS), the behaviour of QoS-based service selection leads to service selection problems in Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM). In the existing works, the confidence level of decision makers is neglected and does not consider their expertise in assessing Web services. In this paper, we employ the VIKOR (VIšekriterijumskoKOmpromisnoRangiranje) method, which is absent in the literature for service selection, but is well-known in other research. We propose a QoS-based approach that deals with service selection by applying VIKOR with improvement of features. This research determines the weights of criteria based on user preference and accounts for the confidence level of decision makers. The proposed approach is illustrated by an example in order to demonstrate and validate the model. The results of this research may facilitate service consumers to attain a more efficient decision when selecting the appropriate servic

UltiMatch-NL: a web service matchmaker based on multiple semantic filters

In this paper, a Semantic Web service matchmaker called UltiMatch-NL is presented. UltiMatch-NL applies two filters namely Signature-based and Description-based on different abstraction levels of a service profile to achieve more accurate results. More specifically, the proposed filters rely on semantic knowledge to extract the similarity between a given pair of service descriptions. Thus it is a further step towards fully automated Web service discovery via making this process more semantic-aware. In addition, a new technique is proposed to weight and combine the results of different filters of UltiMatch-NL, automatically. Moreover, an innovative approach is introduced to predict the relevance of requests and Web services and eliminate the need for setting a threshold value of similarity. In order to evaluate UltiMatch-NL, the repository of OWLS-TC is used. The performance evaluation based on standard measures from the information retrieval field shows that semantic matching of OWL-S services can be significantly improved by incorporating designed matching filters
